"What have you decided?" Sean questioned. She couldn't see him properly, but the intensity of his gaze seared her skin.

Violet sat up, wincing as her back hurt due to sleeping in that position. The floor was too rough and uneven. She had also heard a mouse scurrying around in the cell.

"About what?" Her voice came out croaky as she hadn't spoken a word since yesterday.

"About the deal," he said, his voice cutting through the air like forged steel.

"I already told you my decision," she said as she grew conscious of the ache in her stomach. Her whole body was aching.

A deafening silence swallowed the room. And then, without warning, she was yanked to her feet with a roughness that stole her balance. Her head spun violently, and she stumbled into him, only for him to shove her hard against the wall. Pain shot through her back, and her breath hitched.
