Ivan’s POV

Smiling to myself, I already saw Lexi make her way to my office but I never moved my gaze away from the document I was working on. She’d frozen in her tracks for a moment.

I had thought that it was probably because she saw the name and remembered who it was but my thoughts were cleared when she turned and the fear was evident in her eyes.

She didn’t freeze because she recognized me, she froze because she wasn’t expecting that I’ll be the one sitting behind that CEO tag.

She didn’t recognize Cassian Alessio but she sure as hell recognized Ivanović Volkov. My hope of the name by the door jolting her memory was dashed and once again fresh anger flowed through me.

Was I really that forgettable that she forgot all about me? All about the beautiful moment we shared and how she was herself whenever she was with me?
