Prologue: The Pigeon Falls Hard

The air gushed through the windows, the curtains dancing and celebrating the beautiful moment. The dim light of the full moon entered the room, enlightening the smooth milky skin of two humans who shared the depths of the ocean, drinking the wine of love slowly and lustfully. The heavy breathing, thumping heart against the ribcage felt like a piece of music playing in the background, becoming rapid every other second. It was a beautiful moment that she awaited for ages.

Lilian bit her lower lip between her teeth, trying to calm her stupid heart going crazy at the moment. Her eyes stared deep into his, the amber collarette of his blue-coloured iris enchanting her from the first time she saw him. This man above her was just so fine. Every single detail of him felt remarkable like one in a million carvings. His sharp nose, silky and slightly long hair, the smooth skin which even an angel would envy, that sexy mole just on his lower lip and finally his ocean-deep eyes... Maybe God had spent ages making this beautiful sculpture.

Lying under him on the giant king-sized bed in his bedroom, Lilian gripped the sheets tightly as she watched him lower down to approximate the remaining distance between them. He stroked her cheek gently like a feather, his attention on those rosy-tinted lips as he lowered more, their lips touching each other. She closed her eyes, her heart beating with an inhuman speed and her chest heaved up and down with deep respirations. His lips were so soft and this man over here smelt terrific. Was she this impatient?

Richard Tucker, her husband was finally giving her the love she was yearning for, reciprocating the love once she thought was one-sided. She had craved him enough.

His cold attitude, rude remarks and rigid personality! She didn't know why she would love this guy so much. She tried to keep her heart in the cage but she couldn't. The pigeon just flew high in the air. She often felt afraid of how hard she would fall one day after his rejection but that was all the past, now he was there, sharing the warmth she wanted.

Lilian pushed her head up a little, pressing her lips against his, wanting to let him know that he had her consent.

"Nia…" He breathed out as he kissed her but the lass felt an incredible chill inside her body. The heart which was screaming so loud a moment ago turned so silent to be worried. Her breath hitched and she opened her eyes. Her pigeon had fallen so hard.

He opened his eyes, realizing that she was not responding to his kiss at all. He saw her eyes, a thin layer of tears coated on her sclera. Her eyes... It spoke everything.

"Lilian... I... I can explain!" He shamelessly said, not apprehending the graveness of the matter. He had called some other woman's name in the peak moments, wishing he would know how that thing hurts.

Lilian gulped her thick saliva, pushing her husband off her with all her might. She gathered herself, getting up from her bed but...

He held her back, gripping her wrist, "Lilian, wait, let me explain!"

She clenched her hands into a fist, turning to look at him with tears falling down her cheek, "It's enough now. I can't bear this anymore. I really can't. Everything between us which never even existed ends now, here at this moment Richard Tucker!"

She flicked her hand from his grip, running barefoot out of his room. He followed her back, calling her name but she didn't care. The burrowing feeling inside her heart was starting to suffocate her. She just ran towards her room, almost stumbling upon her own feet.

Slamming the door in her husband's face, Lilian was too hurt to say or even see his face. She denied his presence or his voice to reach her ears as she locked herself in the bathroom. Sitting under the shower, she let cold water slap her numb body.

All this time, she saw her husband's little gestures changing. Richard didn't leave her on hold, he wasn't that rude, he even gave her the meds when she was sick last week. But you were an idiot Lilian! Such small things didn't mean that he had started liking you. This man never cared for you and he never would.

But still!

Why would he be so heartless? Why did he even give her hope? Why would he play with her poor heart?

God, that hurts a lot. She had been so foolish, literally a big fool. She shouldn't have opened the cage of her heart. No, wait! She shouldn't have fallen for him in the first place.

Lilian cried hysterically with the embracement of the cold water, wishing for a lot of things if they didn't happen. She had loved the wrong man at the wrong times, how was she supposed to go back now? She was married to this heartless man who was trying to show his soft side, giving her false hope but wait, that softness, that love and care in his eyes wasn't for her in the first place. It belonged to some other woman, it belonged to Nia.

Two years had passed since their wedding. She was bound by her parent's words while he had his obligations but one thing for sure, it wasn't a marriage out of love.

After their marriage, Lilian started falling for him even if she knew that she wasn't supposed to. There were some forbidden lines she was crossing, but still, her silly heart skipped a beat. The young innocent and naive woman had started experiencing the softness of the petals, forgetting the thorns pointed at her directly. But somewhere she always hoped that he would reciprocate her magical feelings but in the middle of the chaos, she had forgotten the most important thing.

Richard Tucker, the CEO of the multi-billion company, her lawfully wedded husband was married to the love of his life before she came into his life. She had somewhere forgotten the fact that she was his second wife. That second which always comes after the first!
