BAB 4 I Don't Pretend You Dont Kow Her Name

Max’s laughter, mocking her drunken state, made Mia so upset that she waved her hand aimlessly, which only hit the air. Her eyes felt heavy, and her body was starting to go limp. She wasn’t sure she would be conscious for the next few minutes.

“I didn’t think you could be even cuter, Sweetheart. Your attitude like this is entertaining. “

Mia’s fist only lightly touched the surface of the man’s chest without hurting the target. She completely lost control of her body.

“Hey, Max!”

From the corner of Mia’s eye saw two tall men approaching them. Their faces were flat without emotion, but Mia’s feelings said there would be nothing good if they were visited by Bouncer. Not just one, but two at once.

Mia was about to scream for help from the men, but Max seemed to know what Mia was thinking. Roughly, Max covered Mia’s mouth, who was about to scream. Max’s loud growl startled Mia until her heart was racing.

The two Bouncers were standing so close to them that there was no longer any distance. Mia’s eyes caught the attention of one of the bouncers. Help me, please. She hopes her gaze can communicate with the Bouncer.

“You hurt that girl Max.”

“I didn’t hurt anyone, Thomas. So go away. I can take care of myself. “

Mia’s body shuddered at Max’s tone, which turned cold with emotion. Much different from the sweet honey voice when they were talking.

“Miss, are you all right?”

Mia’s heart warms up hearing the Bouncer named Thomas’s worries. She was about to nod when suddenly her vision blurred, and she lost consciousness. Her body kissed the floor as soon as Max was pulled by the two bouncers by force. Max screams out loud, making a scene amidst the loud DJ music. Curses colored his rebellion. The two Bouncers paralyzed him until he was lying on the floor with both hands locked by Thomas, who knelt beside him.

Max’s eyes glanced wildly around. The little circle they had created was now five times bigger. That’s when he saw a figure he hated standing not far from him, and Mia, who he had forgotten about, was now in another man’s arms. The girl seemed to be asleep with a coat covering her whole body.

“Jaxon!” shouted Max in frustration. Everyone can see his hateful gaze as he looks at Jaxon. Plus, Mia is in his arms. “How dare you! You think I’ll just shut up! “ he said threateningly.

Jaxon just silently looked at the brother he had never considered. Even though his body looked relaxed and did not care about what was happening around him, his eyes could not lie. His hatred was probably greater than how Max felt about him.

“How many times have I given you warnings not to set foot on my property?” said Jaxon in a cold tone.

Max laughed out loud as if Jaxon had just said a funny joke. Thomas had to hit him on the back three times to make him stop laughing.

“I don’t remember that this place is your property, Jaxon. All I know is that you used my money to build this place!” Max’s curse was followed by some profanity.

Jaxon’s left eyebrow rose slightly at Max’s sentence just now.

“If there’s something you don’t like about my property ownership, please contact my lawyer Maxon. Don’t forget the ethics you learned in the elite social circles you glorified before me.” Jaxon quipped in a condescending voice.

Jaxon turned his attention to Thomas. He motioned with a nod. A clear signal saying to get Max out of the club and all clubs in Denver. Indeed, it is not until five minutes after Max leaves the club that the news of Maxon Bradwood’s banned throughout the Denver nightlife will spread quickly.

Jaxon turns around, leaving the scene of the commotion, entrusting his subordinates to take care of everything, ignoring Max’s curse that he wants a fight with him as he walks back to the second floor.

His attention was diverted to the woman who was now in his arms. That’s when he realized he was carrying the woman. Earlier, he immediately rushed to save the woman. His instincts worked fast to protect her.

“What are you going to do with that woman, Jax?”

Jaxon just now noticed Gavin’s presence. His focus is only on Max during the commotion.

Again, Jaxon looked at the woman in his arms. He also didn’t know what he would do to her. Consciously he watched the woman’s slumbering face. Her tiny nose made the corners of Jaxon’s lips curl slightly. Button Nose, he whispered. Natural eyebrows and lashes, no exaggerated make-up except for pink lipstick, which adds to the appeal of her full lips. Her porcelain face looks… perfect.

Jaxon took several breaths to clear his head from images it shouldn’t have.

“You want me to take care of that woman, Jax? You don’t have to bother thinking about women― “

The glare that Jaxon gave was enough to cover Gavin’s mouth. His best friend just smiled and laughed at his reaction. Jaxon cursed softly. He knew Gavin was just playing with him.

“But you wouldn’t do anything to that girl, right?”

Jaxon sighed and looked at his friend.

“What do you think I’m going to do to this woman, Gavin?”

Gavin shrugged his shoulders.

“I won’t do anything. She’s just a harmless woman. You can see how easy it is to make this woman believe strangers until her drinks are drugs without her knowing. “

“Well, well, you’re right. But this woman is named Jaxon, and don’t pretend you don’t know. You know this city even better than the elders who lived hundreds of years in Denver. Not a single whisper escaped your ears.” Gavin shook his head. He had known Jaxon since they were young boys whose hobby was rowing a bicycle around this city to deliver some “stuff” to the cartel or “mafia” who needed their “services.” Since childhood, they were crime partners because the money was enough to buy a new toy.

Jaxon ignored Gavin’s babbling until they entered the office. He laid the woman in his black coat on the sofa.

“Aren’t you wondering what this girl wants in Denver and running around looking for you?”

Somehow Jaxon could not take his eyes off the face of the girl who seemed sound asleep like an angel on his maroon sofa. Her honey yellow hair hung down to the floor.
