Callum's POV
“Just tell him Vincent is here to see him, he'll see him.”
I frowned as I stopped halfway to the door of my office building and saw Vincent, my ex struggling with the security guards.
What was he even doing here? And couldn't he have taken a hint from the video of my engagement?
He spotted me and his eyes lot up. “Get away from me you useless lot. Hey babe, I've been waiting for you,”
When he reached out his hand to hug me, I stepped back. “What are you doing here Vincent?”
He shrugged. “I saw the proposal video you posted recently but I knew your account had been hacked because there was no way you were leaving me. Right?”
I pinched the bridge of my nose and took a deep breath to calm my nerves. .
The last person I wanted to deal with was Vincent. I looked to my right to ask Roman to kick him out but he wasn't there.
I frowned as I realized I hadn't seen or heard from him since he stormed off two days ago.
I could see clearly why Adam hired him because if he had been here, Vincent would have been kicked off the property a few minutes back.
I gritted my teeth and glared at Vincent feeling irritated by the sight of him. “Stay away from me Vincent, I'm getting married.”
He blanched and staggered backwards as if I had pushed him.
Behind me, I heard some clocking sounds and groaned.
A small group of reporters were standing there soaking in the drama as much as they could.
“You don't mean that right?” He asked with an awkward laugh. “We were so in love Callum and I know I made a mistake but I've changed I promise you that!”
Changed? I snorted. Perhaps it was time to give these reporters a show and get rid of Vincent for good.
I took two steps forward and crossed my arms over my chest. “Mistake? Vincent, forgetting to take out the trash is a mistake, getting a recipe mixed up is a mistake but cheating isn't.”
The color drained from his face but it was too late. He had brought this upon himself by choosing to show up here and he was going to get everything that was coming to him.
My pent up anger for his cheating and Roman's disappearance merged as I revealed everything he had done and how I had got him sucking off his neighbour.
His face was ashen as he tried to hide behind something but we were in an open space with nowhere to hide.
“The game is up Vincent and you've lost your chance with me.” I told him, a stern look on my face. “If I ever catch you on my property, I'll hand you over to the police. Let's see what they think of you trespassing.”
He shook his head and held up his hand. “I didn't mean to cause any trouble Cal, I just wanted to apologise to you. I miss you,”
He reached to touch me but his hand was stopped midway by another large and hairy one.
“Touch him again and I'll see to it that you can't use your hands for a week.”
At the sound of his voice, I looked up and spluttered. “Roman? What are you…?”
I blinked, wondering if I was seeing things while the reporters continued soaking up all the gossip.
“Miss me darling?” He whispered with a smirk. “I left you for two days and look at the meds you made.” He leaned closer and whispered. “I'll do it. It's too late to back down anyway and I'm sure after this unpleasant encounter with your ex, you have realized how much you need me around.”
I flushed at his words mainly because they were true and hugged him trying to keep up appearances since the cameras were still clocking away. “The next time I disappear on me again, don't think of coming back.”
He chuckled and placed a wet kiss on my forehead which I itched to wipe off but couldn't because we weren't alone.
The evil bastard! I thought and glared at Vincent.
“Why are you still here? I snapped, fighting back my emotions.
He shook his head and looked down. “I won't bother you anymore. Be happy with him.” He whispered and started to walk away.
I heaved a sigh of relief and turned to leave when his voice stopped me in my tracks.
“What now?” I whispered, completely irritated.
“I'm not talking to you Cal,” he said and then directed the rest of his words to Roman. “You’d better take care of my Caly bear or I swear, you'd be hearing from me.”
Roman eyed him wordlessly for a bit and then chucked. “Caly bear uhn?” He whispered at me and I flushed. “Best believe I know how to take care of my man.”
Then he did the most absurd thing and grabbed my ass.
Whistles and gasps of surprise came from the small group of people and reporters that were gathered and my cheeks grew hot.
“Come on babe, let's go inside. I have missed you.” he winked suggestively and dragged me towards the entrance of the company.
“Kill me now.” I whispered to no one in particular wishing the ground would open up and swallow me whole.

“Nice office,” Roman commented as he fiddled with everything in sight.
I itched to kick him out but the reporters were still hovering around and my staff members seemed to have caught the gossip fever.
“Where did you go?” I asked and he scoffed.
“Pray tell, why would you want to know? You didn't want me around, remember?”
I gritted my teeth and turned my attention back to the load of work sitting ducks on my desk.
The design team had just submitted a new proposal for our new AI technology and I had to review it and make corrections so the launch date wouldn't be delayed.
“Nice work out there you guys,” Adam said as he walked into my office. “Roman, it's nice to have you back.”
“Did you bring the contract and NDA?” I asked without looking up from my laptop.
“Hello to you too, Callum. Now let's talk about your wedding and the honeymoon.”

Roman's POV
I played with the bracelet around my wrist as I watched Callum work.
He was one good-looking man, I hated to admit it but even a fool could see it.
If the circumstances were different and we had met at a different time, place and situation then I'd have gone for him.
Atlas, he was just a heartless murderer who covered up crimes.
I gritted my teeth as memories began to flood my mind.
Tyler's distress call before the accident which I had only heard because it was recorded as a voicemail and then the announcement that he had died.
No official statement had been released by Callum's company even though he had been an employee and it had all been swept under the carpet but I was here to get answers and pay Callum back in his own coin.
Meeting him hadn't been a coincidence but a carefully mapped out plan.
I wanted what was so great about him that made Tyler give up his life to save him.
Did he even know Tyler? Has he ever interacted with him?
Did he notice Tyler was dead?
I scoffed at my own questions. Of course he knew nothing because it was beneath.
A man like Callum only saw his subordinates as the help and nothing else.
Just a bunch of disposables he could toss aside whenever he felt like it.
But by the time I was done with him, he would realize that he had messed with the wrong one, the wrong family.
Unlike the others, Tyler had someone who could fight for him.
My cover was perfect and no one would ever find out, not until I was close to getting my revenge at least because I had tightened all the loose ends.
I would stay close to Callum until I got a chance to ruin him and then I'd walk.
Such a brilliant plan.
By Tyler's birthday in the fall, Callum would be paying for his sins.
“Roman!”
I jerked as I felt a hand on my shoulder and my instincts kicked in.
I grabbed it and Callum fell into my lap. “What are you doing?” I hissed in anger as I released his hand.
He blinked, looking momentarily confused. “I have been trying to get your attention.”
His face began to flush and I narrowed my eyes.
“What is that digging into my back?” He asked as he jumped to his feet.
I blinked trying to gather my thoughts.
Great, now the moron would think I had been thinking about him which I had but not for the reason he'd think.
“Tell me Roman, what were you thinking about?” He asked with a smirk and I rolled my eyes.
“Don't flatter yourself, Caly bear. That's my gun but if you want it to be something else then I could grant your wish as well.”
His cheeks grew red and I chuckled. He was so easy to tease.
“I have no problem getting it up if you want to help yourself. Just say the word.”
He opened his mouth no doubt to cuss me out but the door opened behind him, cutting him off.
“Even though the media is eating all this up, I don't think a sex tape getting released would be good for the board Callum.”
I leaned back in my seat and watched the two of them as the plan formed in my head.
It was simple. Get him to fall for me and then walk.
That way I could uncover the truth behind Tyler's death and expose him at the end of the day.
“Roman, here, read this and let me know what you think.”
Callums pov“Bench more than he does,” Roman responded, in the same tone of voice as if he were speaking about the weather.I laughed. A real laugh that I didn’t think I was capable of giving. “Oh my gosh, Roman. Shut up. You are such a liar!”“You remember those weights I got in the gym and lifted? The ones you told me about last time? You said they looked, ‘unnecessarily heavy.’”I nodded cautiously. Of course I did. How could I forget? They were this mound of serious-looking black metal junk over at one end of the gym room."They're lightweight compared to the heavy area I’ve lifted and that is what reacher benches," he said, his grin widening. "Back in the army, I had weights doubled. Twice the density.”I kept staring at him. This had to be a joke. What the hell!“So you’re stronger than a fictional person. Big deal.”“It’s not actually,” he laughed. "It's just sort of… weight. It's just physics." Another shrug. "I remember one time in Kandahar, my Humvee got flipped in an ambush
Callums povAdam who had been overheating the conversation chimed in. “Hey, Roman. Yeah, he’d love to. He’s on his way.” He hit ‘end’ then tossed the phone back to me with a smile I wanted to punch right off his face.“What are you doing?” I hissed.“I’m taking your things home,” he said, like that was the most obvious plan in the world. He wrenched open the limo door and climbed inside.“How am I supposed to get home?” I cried. “You can’t just leave me here you know.”He waved a hand at Roman through the glass. “He’ll take you home. It’s what you guys do! Remember? Story line! Fun times, lovebirds!” Then he closed the door and the window dropped an inch. “And try not to kill each other! Literally!”I stood there as the driver shrugged at me before getting in and the limo pulled away. I stood at the curb in rage as I looked across the street to see him still sitting and watching me in surprise.I stood there for a full minute, fuming, debating whether to just call an Uber and leave hi
Callums povThe words seemed to strangle me with treachery,“The illusion is there to protect the reality, Callum,” Adam said softly. “The reality is that you need a guy who will knock a potential threat on his ass without a second thought. The illusion is that he’s your loving husband so he can be close enough to do it. He is doing a great job being both from my angle.I ran a hand through my hair. It was a mess. I was a mess. “I know. I know that. Logically, I know that. It’s just… hard. He’s so… intense. And I just… I snapped.”“Yeah, you did," Adam agreed, not in a kind way. “So maybe cut the guy a little slack. Let him do his thing. The thing you’re paying him an ungodly amount of money to do.”I sighed and looked around. “So you expect me to let him run around taking down every threat in his way?”“I didn’t say that,” he sighed. “I’m saying… trust his instinct. Just a little. His instinct just now was to protect you.”I stayed there for a while before signing as I turned to the
Roman’s povAdam’s face had drained of all colour like he was sick and Callum’s face had gone a deep, angry-red colour. He looked pissed with his fused hands by his side. “What. The fuck. Was that?”I blinked at him stupidly for a moment before answering. “He was going for you. I told you the place felt wrong. Did my job.”“Your job?” Callum’s voice rose, cracking on the words. “Your job was to stand there and look pretty! Your job was to not cause a scene! Your job was not to body-slam some random junkie through a display of two-hundred-dollar ties!”“He wasn’t a random junkie, he was a threat until proven otherwise,” I shot back, my own temper starting to fray. “My job is to assess and react. I assessed. I reacted.”Adam looked at the people staring at us as he told the salesman to push people out of the store. The salesman nodded and went ahead to shove people out as Adam looked at us.“The press is probably already filming this out there! ‘Billionaire’s New Husband is a Violent M
Roman’s povI took the jacket. The leather was soft, like nothing I’d ever felt before. In that instant, I could feel all of their eyes on me, the salesman’s, Adam’s, and everybody else in the store who had all turned to look, I think I felt Callum’s most of all. This wasn’t protection clothing. This was performance art clothing. I sighed as I decided to do what they wanted from me.I just followed them. Where else was I gonna go? I was the stupid one who signed the contract, after all. I didn’t complain. I held up jackets, put on pants that felt like wearing air, and stood on a little pedestal while a tailor fussed around my legs with pins in his mouth. The whole time, though, my eyes were on the doors. The hair on my neck was up. Something didn’t feel right. The crowd outside the glass doors was moving, as the store was getting a bit too full for a Tuesday afternoon.I tried to say how uncomfortable I felt but could get only half of what I meant to out. “Callum,” I said. “It’s gett
Roman’s povI just needed him off my back. Anything he was thinking of doing I wanted him to stop and leave me alone. This shopping trip… I couldn’t wait for it to be all over so I would get back to my life.“You’re not fine. You look like a wall. You realize people are going to see you, they’re going to want pictures. ‘Callum West’s reclusive husband!’ That’ll sell papers. So you have to…” He trailed off and waved his hand in the air vaguely. “Smile. Look like you don’t totally hate him.”I sighed, the air rushing from my lungs in a tired whoosh. “I’ll try to smile,” I mumbled. It sounded as unconvincing as I felt.He didn’t care if I was convincing or not. He seemed to like my words as he nodded. It didn’t take long before we got to the mall as the driver notified us and Adam looked at me with a smile and a nod. Oh this was going to be a long day I thought.Callum didn’t look like he cared. From what I was seeing he just wanted to get rid of me so he would go back to his phone or hi
