Chapter Forty-Three-Delaney

Delaney stared at Katy's vehicle, and her blood ran cold. Katy's vehicle was parked in her driveway and her front door was locked. Delaney called her phone again but this time it went to voicemail.

She ran her palm over her ponytail and took a deep breath. Lucas jogged around from the back of the house, and jabbed his finger over his shoulder. "Looks like the back door is unlocked … come on."

She raced around the single story house, and into the small unfenced backyard. The sliding door opened when Lucas slid it opened. The house was clean, the TV was off, and everything looked untouched. Lucas stalked around the house like a madman, and Delaney took her time, looking at everything.

If she knew anything about Katy due to the OCD habits that she had at the bakery, she knew everything needed to be in its place. So, she looked for anything that was out of place.

Lucas barreled back into the living room. "I'm calling the police," he said, digging his phone from his pocket.
