Book 3 - Ch. 189: Promises

I stand back in the doorway of the kitchen, where neither Ella or Jude can see me, and I watch them. I don’t mean to eavesdrop, but I don’t want to interrupt their conversation either. Listening to Jude confess his feelings gets me right in the center of my chest. I’ve never seen the big guy speak this way or act the way he does with Ella. He is truly in awe of our girl, and I couldn’t be happier. He needs this in his life. I’ve only heard snippets of his childhood and so I know he didn’t have it good growing up, but he's done well for himself, and he turned out decent.

Ella. What is it about this girl that has us both wrapped around her finger? She is innocence and wicked all rolled into one, and anyone who meets her falls in love with her. The fact that she is choosing me and Jude to love only proves that she isn’t the type to judge a book by its cover. She likes to read the pages herself before deciding whether it's worthy of her time. There must be something in the both
