Elevator

“By the way Bett, I heard that you have a new owner and CEO of this company. Caleb asked

“Yes actually Mr. Smith surprised us this weekend, he just told us and now we are still in an adjustment period although there are no changes in management except from our CEO”. I answered while waiting for the elevator to stop on our floor.

“Oh, so how is your new boss look? Is he good-looking like me? he teases

“Come on Caleb he’s looked far than yours, hahaha. I tease him back

“I see so you’re eyeing your boss, is he that good-looking?

“Stop your nonsense, Caleb, if someone hears you, they might believe it. I don't have the guts to have an eye on him. hahaha".

“Okay, but why you’re blushing? Don't tell me he is your style?”. Ha, ha, ha,

“No, it’s just hot here are you not hot, stop teasing me, Caleb”.

The elevator dings and opened and I stopped. Caleb had already gone inside but I felt my feet get numb and freeze, I was stuck where I am when I saw who was inside the elevator. My face blushed even more when I was reminded of what Caleb and I talked about a few minutes ago.

“Bett, are you coming? Caleb called for my attention.

“Oh, Yeees”, I stuttered and went inside. Do I need to acknowledge Isaac? I think I need to he is my boss now. My mind is in chaos and messed up right now.

“Mr. Jones, I greeted him at the end.

“Ms. Wright, he nodded.

“Bett is he you’re, hot new boss? Caleb whispered.

“Yes, I whispered back. I give Caleb a stern look to stop talking but knowing Caleb he will not stop until he satisfied himself.

“I guess what I said earlier is true then, it's your style. He teased and laughs at me.

“Shut up or else I will not be accompanying you anymore”. When I finished talking the elevator doors opened.

My G that’s the longest and most awkward ride in the elevator I had and thanks to Caleb who can’t shut his mouth. He didn’t stop teasing me at all. I'm sure Mr. Jones heard it all thanks to Caleb's big mouth.

Restaurant

“Caleb, are you sure we can go inside without any reservation here? I asked it's a recently opened Italian restaurant and it is nearby to our office.

“Yes, only their function hall needs a reservation.

“Hmm, this is good let’s go inside then.

We settled at the nearby window in the back corner side. When I’m trying to focus on my menu, Caleb got my attention again.

“Coincidence or Fate?”. He murmured

“Ha? What are you talking about? I looked at him with a confused face.

“Look at the door, I might say heaven's above are helping you today, it’s your lucky day girl”. he winked at me with his teasing smile

When I look at the door Isaac and his assistant are walking in. I look away immediately, afraid that Isaac will notice me. I hope he will not see me at all. I think I can’t enjoy my lunch this time. My thoughts brought me somewhere again.

“Hi, world for Bett? Caleb waved his hand in front of me.

“Oh, yes let’s order now I still need to be back at the office”, I avoided his questioning look.

“Bett, tell me why are you always out of your mind when you are seeing your boss? And why do I feel that you are way more awkward than when we are in the elevator earlier? Caleb question

Before I answer Caleb's question, the waiter excuses us and took our order and I know Caleb will not stop bothering me until he hear what he wants to hear. So, while we waited for our food, I told Caleb everything.

“I know him before I could get to know he is our CEO. He is my neighbor, we ate one time when his assistant is not yet around. I think he is new in the area, he comes to my place just to ask for the nearby hypermarket before. That’s why I felt awkward. My neighbor is my boss now”.

“Wow, Bett, I think it’s fated. I will be your number one shipper can I write a book for your story then? Caleb excitedly said.

“What on earth are you talking about, stop that and let’s eat before the food gets cold" while shaking my head.

Our food arrived and we took our time to eat. We continued to chat and laugh at Caleb's nonsense joke. I felt that someone is looking at me but I ignored it maybe it was just my imagination. Time passed and we finish our lunch, Caleb needs to go and I need to go back to the office as well.

Outside of the Restaurant

“Bett, sorry I can’t drop you back I got an emergency”. Caleb sadly told

“It’s okay don’t mind me go ahead it’s nearby at our office I can take a taxi to go back”.

“You sure, It's a rush hour and I felt bad about it. I’m the one who asks you out for lunch.” Caleb sadly said.

“Caleb it’s really okay don’t be dramatic, there are so many ways I can go back, so go ahead it’s an emergency, right? I will see you next week at our next meeting”.

“Okay see you, I owe you this one Bett, I will go ahead then”, Caleb said goodbye and kiss both my cheeks.

“Don't worry, bye take care then.

Caleb leave and I left waiting for a taxi to come by. I think Caleb is right it’s hard to get a taxi at this time. It’s rush hour anyway. I have two options to go back, walk or book an Uber, and I decided to book an Uber. But when I'm ready to book a car stopped in front of me. When I looked up, It was Isaac's assistant.
