Chapter One

Alethea, where are my prints!"

I sighed as I hovered over the printer and copy machine. I haven't been here for more than a minute and she is already yelling for her damn prints. She is the most obnoxious person I have ever met, but nobody would ever dare tell her that. Everybody around here kissed her ass, because it was better than to piss her off. I'm sad to say that I am one of the few who kisses her ass.

Oh, I'm sorry, how very rude of me. My name is Alethea. I have long black hair with light brown highlights that goes down to the middle of my back. I have green and brown hazel eyes, I am mixed with black and white; so my skin complexion is tan. Most people often mistake me to be Puerto Rican. I am also four foot eleven. I currently work in designing clothes, but my real passion in life is writing books. Although I never succeeded in creating a book. Every time I tried to start one, my mind just goes blink, so for right now I have given up. I chose to design clothes instead. I often told myself that maybe if I experience new things in life, then maybe I will have something to write about.

Well it has been five years since I worked here and I still have nothing to write about. Maybe writing isn't my calling after all. Oh and that crazy lady who was just yelling at me. Yea that would be none other than my boss, Ms. Petoskey. I know, I know, what a horrible name; but the name suits her, because she is a horrible lady to work for. I would go and find another job, but I don't feel like starting over and plus I get paid a lot where I'm at right now. So as horrible as Ms. Petoskey is, I suck it up and deal with it.

"Alethea, if you don't get in here with my prints right this second, then I will make sure to do everything in my power to keep you here, while you take your vacation!"

She is so damn impatient! I thought to myself. I grabbed all of the hundred prints, that I just printed out and walked over to her office. I cursed her out at least hundred times before I even made it to her office. Once I was outside of her door, I knocked before entering. That is rule number one around here. If you do not knock, then you could be fired. I learned that my first day here. I walked into her office with a fake smile and gently placed the prints onto her desk.

"I am sorry Ms. Petoskey for taking so long with the prints. The copy machine took a minute to start, since someone turned it off." I said while trying so hard not to reach over and strangle her. It took everything in me every day to not do just that; but she pisses me off almost every day. Especially this week, because she knows that I am planning to go back to Rhode Island for three months, for my older brother's wedding. If I do anything she doesn't like, then she threatens to keep me here while I use my vacation time. That's okay though, because after I get off work today, I can finally go to the airport and be rid of this lady for three whole months. Oh how happy that makes me feel. I needed this long vacation too.

I currently reside in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The sunshine state where old people come to retire. Florida is a very big state. You can't get around without a car, even if you need to go to Walgreens that is down the street, because it really isn't just down the street. It's more like five street lights down from where you stay. Florida is always sunny if it isn't raining and it rains a lot here; for like five minutes then it goes back to being sunny. Florida is the most bipolar state I have ever lived in. Florida is beautiful but also annoying. It isn't like Rhode Island at all. While Rhode Island is small, you can walk to Walgreens, because it is literally down the street from your house.

Everything is basically down the street from your house in Rhode Island. I'm used to being around woods. In Florida, you barely see trees, all you see are roads and highways. I was instantly smacked out of my thoughts just then.

"That is okay Alethea. You may go home early today since you have a long flight ahead of you." Those were the happiest words I have ever heard coming from her mouth.

"Thank you so much Ms. Petoskey."

"Yea, yea, you can leave now, unless you want me to change my mind". I instantly turned around and walked quickly to her door. I yanked open the door and walked out. I went over to my desk to clean up my desk and turn my desk light off, before I left the building. I didn't want to take any chances just in case she decided to come and stop me. I walked into the garage of my work place and hopped into my car. I put the key into the ignition and started my car. As soon as my car started, I looked at the dash board. Shit I only have twenty minutes to get to the airport! Ms. Petoskey, you stupid, stubborn, lonely asshole! I cursed her out again inside my head. I checked to see if anyone was behind me, before I pulled out of the garage and drove to Miami Airport.

"Anything you have on you, cellphone, jewelry, shoes, place it all in this bucket and put it through the scanner. Then walk through the metal detector. I did as the guard told me to. I made it to the airport ten minutes later from where my job was. I had ten more minutes of going through the security and finding out where I needed to go. Once everything checked out, I put my shoes and necklace back on and ran off to find my plane. I finally made it to the right plane, but when I got there I didn't see anyone else but a lady who worked at the airport.

"Excuse me, but did everyone board this plane yet?" I asked the lady. She looked at me up and down before putting a fake smile on and answering me.

"Yes they did, do you need to get on this plane?"

"yes I do, I hope it isn't too late."

"It isn't, let me see your plane ticket please." The lady said while talking into her walky, I guess to let the pilot know that he has one more passenger.

"Okay you may board the plane now." The girl said while smiling at me. I said my thanks to her, took my ticket back, and walked through the tunnel that led me to the plane. I walked onto the plane with my luggage as I tried to find my seat. When I found my seat I tried to lift my luggage to put it in the little cubby area above my seat, but I failed. My luggage was too heavy.

"Here let me help with that." A guy around my age said before grabbing my luggage from me and lifting it and placing it in the cubby in one swift move. Damn he was cute and tall. I said to myself. He was my skin complexion with blue eyes. He had short black hair and he was muscular in all the right places. He cleared his throat as I looked at him up and down.

"Oh I'm sorry, thank you so much for helping me."

"No problem." He said with a smirk. He totally noticed me checking him out. Damn. I took my seat after I checked out the guy's ass as he walked away. Yea I know I'm weird, I love when a man as an ass, it's a turn on for me. I buckled myself in and sent my brother a text message, letting him know I'm on the plane now, before turning my phone off. The pilot went through all the what not to have on the plane, what needs to be turned off while the plane is in the air, and how to buckle ourselves in, before he finally took off.

I took out my iPad mini 2 and plugged my headphones into it. I went to my iTunes and played my playlist while closing my eyes. The plane ride was bumpy, but I never minded it. I loved riding in planes, it made me feel closer to the sky. I was always amazed when I looked out of the window of the plane, while we were very high up.
