“Allow me to introduce Eleanor Montgomery, my fiancée—the woman I love and intend to marry.”

Eleanor Montgomery’s eyes widened in shock. She stared in panic at her boss, Archibald Richter—or Archie—a thirty-one-year-old man who, at a remarkably young age, was already the President Director of Richter Company, a multinational corporation with immense influence in the nation’s business world.

What was the meaning behind Archie’s words? Why did he introduce Eleanor as his fiancée?

Eleanor felt a faint squeeze from Archie’s fingers resting on her waist. She tried to process what was happening—how on earth had she ended up trapped in this situation?

Eleanor had come to the restaurant to meet her fiancé, Julian Blackwood, only to catch him red-handed in an affair with Paula Hazelwood, the heiress to the Hazelwood fortune. An argument had ensued, ending with Julian unilaterally breaking off their engagement.

Having just walked away from Julian and Paula, consumed by anger and disappointment, Eleanor had accidentally bumped into Archie. Without hesitation, the man had grabbed her hand and said, “Come with me.”

Before Eleanor could even process what was happening, she realized that Archie had pulled her into the room to use her as a shield.

Indeed, Eleanor could see that the woman sitting across from them was so furious her face was flushed bright red upon hearing Archie’s sudden declaration.

Archie was claiming Eleanor as his fiancée.

Her boss had completely lost his mind.

“Archie, you’re just joking, right?” Greta Lindemann—the woman arranged to marry Archie—stood up from her seat, her eyes fixed intently on him.

Greta refused to believe what Archie had just said.

“As you can see, I am only going to marry Eleanor.” Archie’s voice was firm and leaving no room for argument.

Greta scoffed with a bitter smile. “Her?” Greta’s finger pointed at Eleanor, her eyes beginning to scan Eleanor’s appearance from head to toe.

“Don’t make me laugh, Archie! She isn’t even your type.” Greta sneered once more. “Only I am suitable for you. Tell this woman to leave, and I will forget everything you just said.”

Archie’s eyes narrowed sharply at Greta as he spoke. “My type? You don’t need to know my taste to decide whom I should marry. And you have no right to dictate this arranged marriage.”

Eleanor remained silent, caught in the middle of a conflict she knew nothing about.

The gentle pressure of Archie’s fingers on her waist seemed to lock her in place, preventing her from escaping the vortex of this charade.

Greta crossed her arms over her chest, her chin tilted high as she glared directly at Eleanor. She still refused to accept Archie’s explanation.

“Archie, look at her.” Greta’s voice was low, yet dripping with contempt. “Do you think I don’t know the kind of women who try to get close to you? Look at her appearance, her clothes, the way she stands, her posture—she doesn’t even dare to look me in the eye.”

Eleanor blinked, her hands balling into tight fists at her sides as Greta continued to look down on her.

“How much did you pay to bring her here?” Greta’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “Your tactics are far too cheap, Archie. Rejecting our families’ arranged marriage by bringing a paid woman off the street? Absolutely laughable. Couldn’t you find a woman with a bit more class? At least someone taller than me.” Greta mocked again.

One corner of Archie’s eyebrow arched upward, his gaze cutting sharply toward Greta.

“A paid woman?” Archie repeated the phrase in a low voice, but it sounded far more dangerous than a shout.

“Yes, of course. I will never believe that she is someone you actually like. That’s impossible.” Greta kept her condescending smile, shaking her head softly.

Archie’s eyes flashed. He turned his body slightly, now fully facing Eleanor. His sharp eyes, usually as cold as ice, suddenly softened with an inexplicable glimmer.

Archie’s hand moved up from Eleanor’s waist, his long fingers slowly creeping upward until they rested at the nape of her neck, weaving through her hair.

Eleanor held her breath. The touch was warm, yet it left no room for resistance.

“I don't need to pay a woman who holds absolute control over my heart, Greta.” Archie’s tone was tender, his gaze remaining locked on Eleanor’s lips, which were slightly parted in surprise.

Before Eleanor could process her confusion, shock seized her as Archie pulled her in and pressed his lips to hers.

Time seemed to slow down. Eleanor could see Archie’s dense eyelashes resting close as he closed his eyes, right before she felt a soft yet firm pressure on her lips. The kiss was not rushed; it was a quiet, unyielding declaration of possession.

Eleanor finally finished her last bite in a hurry. After tidying the food containers and leftover wrappers back into the paper bag, she let out a long breath."I'll be returning to my division now, sir," Eleanor announced first to take her leave.Noticing a subtle nod from Archie, she exhaled a sigh of relief and promptly exited his office.A wave of relief swept through her chest the moment her feet stepped outside Archie's office, having felt thoroughly intimidated the entire time she was in there.Eleanor quickly went to the elevator and headed down to the fifth floor where her division was located. Upon arriving, she walked down the corridor toward her cubicle in the planning division to resume her remaining tasks. However, just as she turned the corner near the room partition, Eleanor's steps came to a sudden halt as she saw who was standing directly in her path.Abigail was already standing there, arms crossed over her chest, pinning her with an icy, piercing glare."How marvelo

  • My Contract Marriage with the CEO   Chapter 12: No Appetite?

Eleanor clasped her hands tightly in her lap.She kept her knees together, sitting stiffly upright.Being inside the spacious, dark-toned executive office of the President Director made her intensely nervous.Forget moving around—even breathing normally felt exceedingly difficult for Eleanor. Her eyes stole an awkward glance toward the large executive desk in the corner of the room. There sat Archie, calmly settled in his high-backed chair, his fingers steadily flipping through page after page of important documents as if Eleanor's presence on the sofa didn't bother him in the slightest.Feeling the atmosphere around them becoming increasingly suffocating, Eleanor finally gathered the courage to speak up. "Mr. Richter..."Archie didn't answer. He didn't even shift his gaze away from the papers before him.Eleanor swallowed hard, trying to soothe her suddenly dry throat. "If... if the food arrives, may I take mine and eat at my own desk, sir? I feel uncomfortable staying here."Still,

Sam suppressed a chuckle at the unusually loud growl coming from Eleanor's stomach. However, he immediately lowered his head upon catching the sharp, icy glare Archie shot his way.Archie shifted his gaze straight back to Eleanor. His face remained expressionless as he looked at her hanging her head in shame."Sam," Archie said flatly, without glancing back at his assistant. "Buy lunch right now, then bring it directly to my office.""Understood, sir," Sam replied promptly.Eleanor snapped her head up, her eyes widening in surprise. Her embarrassment instantly gave way to confusion. Before she could process the order, Archie spoke again in his usual impassive tone."Follow me to my office," Archie instructed, locking eyes with Eleanor in a way that left no room for debate.Eleanor gasped, looking at Archie with clear shock on her face. "F-For what reason should I go to your office, Mr. Richter?"Her sudden question caused Sam—who had just turned to leave—to halt in his tracks. He glan

Eleanor wiped a bead of sweat from her brow with the back of her hand. She had just finished organizing the files Abigail had requested, sorting them meticulously by date and sequence.Glancing at the wall clock above the doorway, she saw the short hand had already passed one in the afternoon. The employee lunch hour had begun an hour ago.Taking a deep breath, Eleanor lifted the heavy stack of documents once more, her arms beginning to ache from the strain. She stepped out of the planning division toward the elevator, heading down to the archive storage room. When the elevator doors parted on the lower floor, Eleanor's steps felt heavy as she walked down the corridor toward the main archive room located at the bottom level of the building.Eleanor pushed open the heavy wooden door of the archive room with her free elbow. Inside the space lined with row upon row of metal cabinets, a middle-aged male staff member looked up at her."Excuse me. I'm returning these report files," Eleanor

Archie’s luxury car cut through the city streets as traffic began to build up.Inside the vehicle, a heavy silence lingered. Eleanor stared straight out the window, watching the soaring skyscraper of Richter Company gradually come into view in the distance. Her heart began to race once again as she pondered how she ought to conduct herself at the office later."Mr. Richter," Eleanor called out, breaking the silence, her voice exceptionally cautious.Archie kept his eyes fixed on the road ahead. "What is it?""Please drop me off by the side of the road near the bus stop right after that intersection, sir," Eleanor said, pointing toward a bus stop a few hundred meters before the company's main entrance.Archie briefly glanced over at her. "Why drop off there? We are heading to the same building.""In accordance with the contract draft we signed last night, sir," Eleanor explained, her voice low yet firm. "We agreed to keep our relationship a secret at the office. If any staff or employe

  • My Contract Marriage with the CEO   Chapter 8: Awkwardness

Eleanor twirled her fingers nervously in her lap, trying to suppress her overwhelming embarrassment. She kept her head down, not daring to look at Archie, who stood right in front of her."I'm sorry, Mr. Richter. I swear, I really didn't realize I was hugging you," Eleanor said softly, her voice barely audible above the rapid beating of her own heart.Archie stared down at Eleanor in silence. Finally, he sat up and swung his legs onto the floor.Standing up, he said, "Go wash up."Without looking back at her, Archie added, "Mother is likely waiting for us in the dining room. I don't like keeping her waiting for too long."Eleanor gave a few gentle nods, still not daring to make eye contact with him.She watched Archie's shadow move away from the bed, followed by the sound of the bathroom door shutting.Eleanor let out a soft sigh of relief, glad that Archie hadn't been angry over her unseemly behavior. She made a mental note to be far more careful from now on to avoid a similar incide
