The clan leader, his posture rigid and his face carved by the scars of time, raises a hand to silence the murmurs. Every motion he makes radiates authority, and his presence fills the clearing as though the moon itself had crowned him.

“Very well, human,” he says, his voice tinged with mockery—but there’s something darker in his eyes, as if he’s savoring the chance to break me. “The trial is simple: if you wish to stay, you’ll prove your worth to the clan by facing one of our challenges. Survive, and you’ll be accepted. Fail, and Shadow will understand why you don’t belong here.”

Shadow releases my hand and steps forward, his body trembling with restrained fury. “This is insane! She doesn’t need to prove anything. She doesn’t need your approval to be with me.”

“You know the rules, son.” The leader’s tone is sharp, his gaze cold, as if speaking to a disobedient pup rather than the warrior who fought to earn his place among them. “This isn’t just about you. This is about the balance of our pack.”

“This is an excuse to get rid of her,” Shadow growls, his eyes darkening with a barely contained rage.

I step forward before the argument can escalate. “Shadow, it’s all right.” My voice is steady, even though my heart hammers in my chest. I face the leader with the same resolve I’ve clung to since this all began. “I accept your challenge. Tell me what I have to do.”

For a moment, he seems surprised by my courage. But his expression quickly hardens again.

“To the north lies an ancient sanctuary,” he says. “Inside, you will find a flower that blooms only under the full moon. You’ll need it to prove your strength and bravery. But beware… that place is no simple path. The pack knows it as The Den of Shadows.”

The silence that follows his words is heavy, thick with tension. Some of the clan exchange uneasy glances. Others stare at me with curiosity or doubt. It’s clear this trial is far from the simple task the leader pretends it to be.

“The Den of Shadows?” I repeat, striving to keep my voice even.

“It’s a place where your deepest fears take shape,” he replies, voice thick with grim satisfaction. “If you return with the flower before dawn, you will be welcomed. But if you fail…”

He lets the threat hang in the air, like a blade suspended above my head. Shadow moves to speak again, but I stop him with a glance. I need him to trust me—as I trust him.

“I’ll do it,” I say firmly, even though a knot tightens in my stomach.

The night grows darker as we approach the forest’s edge. Shadow insists on walking with me up to the boundary, ignoring his father’s protests and the clan’s disapproving stares.

“This is madness, Eve,” he murmurs as we walk. His voice trembles with a mix of anger and desperation. “You don’t have to prove anything to them. We could leave. Right now. Walk away from all of this.”

“And then what? Keep running forever?” I meet his gaze, my words sharp with emotion I can barely contain. “Shadow, I want to be with you—but not like this. I won’t let our love be something we hide from. If I’m going to be at your side, I want it to be with my head held high—not in the shadows, like a shameful secret.”

He falls silent, eyes torn between love and fear. At last, he nods—though I know this is killing him inside.

“I’ll be waiting for you,” he says, voice low but fierce. “If something goes wrong… I don’t care what they say. I’ll come for you.”

I give him a faint smile and lean in to brush my lips against his. It’s a brief kiss, but it carries every promise we’ve ever made. Then I turn toward the forest, draw a deep breath, and take the first step.

The forest is a world apart, a place where moonlight barely filters through the branches. Every shadow seems to move, and the silence hums with a strange energy, as if the air itself is alive. I move carefully, flashlight in hand, my heart pounding.

It doesn’t take long before the forest begins to play tricks on me. I hear whispers—words I can’t understand, but that fill me with unease. I catch glimpses of figures between the trees, but when I turn to face them, they vanish.

“It’s just your mind,” I whisper to myself, trying to stay grounded. “Nothing here can really hurt you.”

But then I hear a low growl—a sound that freezes the blood in my veins. Slowly, I turn. Two glowing eyes stare at me from the darkness.

“Perfect, Eve,” I mutter, trying to keep my voice steady. “You just had to fall for a guy with the most intense family ever.”

The growl deepens as the creature steps forward. It’s a massive wolf, larger than any animal I’ve ever seen, its fur black as pitch, its teeth gleaming in the moonlight.

I can’t move. Fear roots me to the ground, whispering that this could be the end. But then I remember Shadow’s words—his love, his promises—and something inside me hardens.

“I didn’t come this far to give up.” My voice shakes, but I force myself to stand my ground.

The wolf watches me for what feels like an eternity… then, to my astonishment, it retreats. As if it had only come to test me, to see whether I would run. When it vanishes into the dark, I let out a shaky breath and keep going.

When I finally reach the sanctuary, I’m scratched, exhausted—but more determined than ever. The flower is there, glowing beneath the pale moonlight like a treasure waiting to be claimed. I step forward and pick it gently, feeling a strange warmth bloom in my chest at its touch.

“One part down,” I whisper, smiling despite everything.

But I know the real challenge lies in making it back alive. And as the forest seems to close in around me once more, I can’t help but wonder:

Are Shadow and I truly meant to survive all the trials ahead— or is this only the beginning of our end?

  • My Dark Desirable Wolf   77. A Breath Before the Storm

Maxwell’s presence fills the cabin with a tense, electric energy. It's as if he brings with him the promise of more chaos—but also, strangely, a sense of relief. Shadow trusts him, that much is clear, though not completely.“Is there a safe way out of here?” Shadow asks, his voice carrying that commanding tone he uses when he’s in control.Maxwell shakes his head, jaw clenched.“Not with the speed they’re moving. Klaus has trackers in every direction. If we leave now, we’ll be surrounded before dawn.”“Then we fight here,” Shadow replies, calm but resolute. My stomach twists. We fight?” I repeat, my throat suddenly dry. Both men turn to me. Maxwell looks at me like I’m a lost girl in a dark forest, but Shadow steps closer, placing a steady hand on my shoulder.“Lyra, this cabin isn’t ideal, but we can use it to our advantage. It’s familiar ground, and we have a little time to set traps.”“Traps?” My voice rises a little higher than I’d like, but I can’t help it.Maxwell lets out a sho

Shadow holds me in his arms as I try to steady my breathing. His warmth—so comforting, so familiar—is the only anchor I have in the midst of the chaos. The cabin is a wreck: shattered furniture, claw marks on the walls, and the metallic stench of blood thick in the air. But right now, the only thing that matters is that we're still alive.“You shouldn't have done that, Lyra,” he says, his tone stern, though his hands on my back are unbearably gentle.I pull back just enough to look into his eyes, my fingers still clutching the front of his blood-stained shirt.“What was I supposed to do? Just stand there and watch them kill you?”He exhales slowly, eyes closing like he's caught between yelling at me or kissing me.“I can't lose you, Lyra,” he finally confesses, his voice no more than a whisper.“Then don't ever ask me to walk away again,” I reply firmly—and this time, it's me who closes the distance between us.Our lips meet, and the world stops spinning. It’s a desperate kiss, charge

The air inside the cabin feels heavy, thick with tension and emotions that refuse to settle. Shadow moves like a caged wolf, pacing the small space back and forth, checking the windows, making sure everything is locked and secure. I remain seated on the couch, my hands still trembling slightly after his kiss. It’s as if that moment ignited something in both of us—something we can’t ignore, yet are terrified to name.“How dangerous is Klaus, really?” I ask, breaking the silence.Shadow stops, leaning against the wall beside the window. His face is grim, and the moonlight spilling through the glass sharpens the angles of his features.“He’s dangerous like few others,” he replies, not looking directly at me. “He’s calculating. Patient. He won’t stop until he gets what he wants.”“And what is it he wants?” I press, though part of me already knows the answer. At last, his eyes meet mine, and the weight of his gaze steals the air from my lungs.“Me… dead. And you, Lyra, as his weapon.”His

We don’t go straight back to the cabin. Shadow insists on taking a long, winding path through the forest, making sure Klaus isn’t following us—though I’m pretty sure that if that man wanted to find us, he already would’ve. The tension between us is thick enough to choke on. He walks ahead of me, broad back and stiff shoulders, like he’s carrying the weight of the world.I, on the other hand, am battling the thousand questions spinning in my head. Who is Klaus, really? What kind of “mistake from the past” could stir up that level of hatred? And more importantly: what role do I play in all of this? The silence stretches until I can’t take it anymore.“You can’t keep leaving everything up in the air, Shadow.”My voice comes out sharper than I intended, almost like a challenge. He stops so abruptly I nearly crash into his back. He turns to me, his dark eyes gleaming with a mixture of frustration—and something else I can’t quite name.“What do you want me to say, Lyra?” he asks, his voice

The name Klaus is a poison that seeps into the air between us. Shadow stands rigid in front of me, like a wall of iron, and I can feel the intensity of his inner struggle. His protective instinct clashes with the fury crackling in the air, like a storm waiting to be unleashed."Who the hell is Klaus?" I whisper, trying to keep my voice steady as I take a step back, aware that my presence might be more of a burden than a help.Klaus lets out a laugh that echoes through the trees. It's a hollow sound, laced with malice, and it sends a shiver racing down my spine. He takes another step toward us, his figure now bathed in the pale glow of the moon. His eyes shine with something wild, and the smile on his face feels more like a challenge than any sign of joy."Hasn't he told you, darling?" Klaus asks, his tone mocking as he looks at me with bold amusement. "I’m... an old thorn in your precious lycan’s side. Though, personally, I prefer to think of myself as a reminder of everything he trie

  • My Dark Desirable Wolf   72. A Perfect Disaster

The wind blowing through the open windows carries a cool breeze that brushes against my skin.Shadow is leaning against the window frame, staring out at the forest surrounding us, as if searching for something in the distance.Though the stillness of the moment should soothe me, I know there's a storm behind his eyes he's trying hard to hide.“You know,” I say, breaking the silence that has settled between us, “I always thought that if I ever ended up trapped in a situation as ridiculous as this, it would be with someone a bit more… normal.”He turns to me, one brow arched, that crooked smile of his already forming—clear warning that something sarcastic is about to leave his mouth.“Normal?” he repeats, dragging the word out like it’s an insult. “And where’s the fun in that?”I can’t help but laugh. The way he always twists my words back at me makes me want to punch him… or kiss him. It’s a constant inner war, one I honestly enjoy far more than I should.“I don’t know. Maybe it’d be l
