The hours pass slowly, as if the world had slowed its rhythm just to let us feel each second of this torment. Shadow and I remain here, caught in a silence heavy with unspoken promises and a tension that refuses to release us. The air is still thick, but I no longer feel as trapped. Something inside me has shifted, as if Shadow’s words—his promise to fight—had given me the strength I so desperately needed.

We haven’t left yet. This dimly lit room has become something like a sanctuary. The noise outside—the constant murmur of the city—no longer touches us. We are isolated, though not entirely. I know the forces that seek to pull us apart are still moving, restless, and that makes us feel more vulnerable than we should.

“Eve...”

Shadow finally speaks, breaking the silence that had settled between us. His voice is deep, burdened, as if carrying something heavy—but there’s no hesitation in his words.

“We have to leave this place.”

I look at him, and something in his expression tells me he finally understands what’s at stake. This isn’t just about surviving—it’s about escaping something far greater than ourselves. A danger that can’t be faced with words or empty promises.

“I know,” I reply, my voice dropping a tone, as if there were no longer room for illusions. I can’t ignore what we just lived through, what we’ve seen. But the fear—the constant pressure—is no longer as suffocating. If Shadow is ready to fight, then so am I. There’s no turning back.

He doesn’t seem entirely convinced, but he nods, something in his face softening. In this world, the only thing that can truly sustain us is the will *not* to give up. And I won’t.

“There’s something I haven’t told you,” he murmurs, almost as if afraid his words will shatter the fragile calm between us.

I look at him, waiting for him to go on. Something in his tone makes me hesitate, and the weight of his words surrounds me like a creeping shadow.

“The man we’re fighting... he’s not just anyone. He’s not just another enemy. He’s someone from my past. A dark bond.”

His voice falters, and I see the battle behind his eyes. I don’t know if he’s ready to tell me everything, but the intensity in his gaze tells me it matters.

The air grows heavier. Fear seeps into my thoughts, waiting to pounce. A dark bond. That tells me we’re walking in territory far more dangerous than we imagined.

“What do you mean by a dark bond?” I ask, though deep down, I already understand. Shadow’s connection to this man isn’t something that can be easily severed. It’s deeper—something that goes beyond what either of us can comprehend.

He closes his eyes for a moment, breathing deeply, as if the words he’s about to say weigh more than he can bear.

“He’s someone with whom I shared... more than my life, Eve. My very nature. My curse. He’s not just an enemy. He’s part of me. A fragment of who I am. And that makes him all the more dangerous.”

My fingers curl around the edge of my dress, trying to hold on to something—control, maybe. Something inside me fractures, but I refuse to let it show. Shadow isn’t asking for pity. He’s not looking for understanding. He’s warning me.

“Then... he knows what we are?” I ask, my voice cracking slightly. I know that question matters, because if he *knows*, the fight will be so much harder. We won’t just be fighting his plans—we’ll be fighting the truth of what we are.

Shadow nods slowly, and a shiver runs down my spine. That single gesture speaks louder than a thousand words. We both know what that means. If that man knows what we are—what *Shadow* is capable of—there will be no truce. The battle will be merciless. There will be no room for rest. Or doubt.

“He’s always wanted what I have, Eve. But now\... he has something far more important.”

His eyes grow heavy with sorrow, the weight of it almost crushing.

“You have to be ready for what’s coming. And if something happens to me... promise me you won’t give up.”

I don’t need time to think. I have no doubts. No matter what happens, I won’t give up.

“I promise,” I say, firmly. There’s no hesitation, and for a moment, I feel we’re in complete alignment—as if we are a single force, despite all that stands between us.

The moment grows tense—almost unbearable—and for an instant, I forget everything that’s at stake. All I want is to feel him close, to be together, to believe that nothing can pull us apart. My gaze softens as I take in the lines of his face, the intensity with which he watches me.

I don’t know who moves first—but I know that when our lips meet, the world disappears. In one kiss, all the fear, all the uncertainty, dissolves. It doesn’t matter what’s happened, or what awaits us. As long as we have each other, there’s nothing we can’t face.

His hands move along my back with urgency, searching—perhaps—for an answer only touch can give. And I hold him with the same desperation, as if it were the only way to prove we are truly alive, that we truly have something worth protecting.

“Don’t leave me,” he whispers against my lips, and in his words, I hear the vulnerability he’s always hidden behind his strength. Something inside me shatters, but I also feel stronger than ever.

“I’ll never leave you,” I answer, just before the world begins to turn again, just before danger comes even closer.

There’s still so much ahead. The battle has only just begun.

But as long as we’re together—as long as we don’t let fear and darkness tear us apart—nothing can defeat us.

  • My Dark Desirable Wolf   77. A Breath Before the Storm

Maxwell’s presence fills the cabin with a tense, electric energy. It's as if he brings with him the promise of more chaos—but also, strangely, a sense of relief. Shadow trusts him, that much is clear, though not completely.“Is there a safe way out of here?” Shadow asks, his voice carrying that commanding tone he uses when he’s in control.Maxwell shakes his head, jaw clenched.“Not with the speed they’re moving. Klaus has trackers in every direction. If we leave now, we’ll be surrounded before dawn.”“Then we fight here,” Shadow replies, calm but resolute. My stomach twists. We fight?” I repeat, my throat suddenly dry. Both men turn to me. Maxwell looks at me like I’m a lost girl in a dark forest, but Shadow steps closer, placing a steady hand on my shoulder.“Lyra, this cabin isn’t ideal, but we can use it to our advantage. It’s familiar ground, and we have a little time to set traps.”“Traps?” My voice rises a little higher than I’d like, but I can’t help it.Maxwell lets out a sho

Shadow holds me in his arms as I try to steady my breathing. His warmth—so comforting, so familiar—is the only anchor I have in the midst of the chaos. The cabin is a wreck: shattered furniture, claw marks on the walls, and the metallic stench of blood thick in the air. But right now, the only thing that matters is that we're still alive.“You shouldn't have done that, Lyra,” he says, his tone stern, though his hands on my back are unbearably gentle.I pull back just enough to look into his eyes, my fingers still clutching the front of his blood-stained shirt.“What was I supposed to do? Just stand there and watch them kill you?”He exhales slowly, eyes closing like he's caught between yelling at me or kissing me.“I can't lose you, Lyra,” he finally confesses, his voice no more than a whisper.“Then don't ever ask me to walk away again,” I reply firmly—and this time, it's me who closes the distance between us.Our lips meet, and the world stops spinning. It’s a desperate kiss, charge

  • My Dark Desirable Wolf   75. Howls of War

The air inside the cabin feels heavy, thick with tension and emotions that refuse to settle. Shadow moves like a caged wolf, pacing the small space back and forth, checking the windows, making sure everything is locked and secure. I remain seated on the couch, my hands still trembling slightly after his kiss. It’s as if that moment ignited something in both of us—something we can’t ignore, yet are terrified to name.“How dangerous is Klaus, really?” I ask, breaking the silence.Shadow stops, leaning against the wall beside the window. His face is grim, and the moonlight spilling through the glass sharpens the angles of his features.“He’s dangerous like few others,” he replies, not looking directly at me. “He’s calculating. Patient. He won’t stop until he gets what he wants.”“And what is it he wants?” I press, though part of me already knows the answer. At last, his eyes meet mine, and the weight of his gaze steals the air from my lungs.“Me… dead. And you, Lyra, as his weapon.”His

  • My Dark Desirable Wolf   74. Beneath the Moon of Secrets

We don’t go straight back to the cabin. Shadow insists on taking a long, winding path through the forest, making sure Klaus isn’t following us—though I’m pretty sure that if that man wanted to find us, he already would’ve. The tension between us is thick enough to choke on. He walks ahead of me, broad back and stiff shoulders, like he’s carrying the weight of the world.I, on the other hand, am battling the thousand questions spinning in my head. Who is Klaus, really? What kind of “mistake from the past” could stir up that level of hatred? And more importantly: what role do I play in all of this? The silence stretches until I can’t take it anymore.“You can’t keep leaving everything up in the air, Shadow.”My voice comes out sharper than I intended, almost like a challenge. He stops so abruptly I nearly crash into his back. He turns to me, his dark eyes gleaming with a mixture of frustration—and something else I can’t quite name.“What do you want me to say, Lyra?” he asks, his voice

  • My Dark Desirable Wolf   73. On the Edge of Chaos

The name Klaus is a poison that seeps into the air between us. Shadow stands rigid in front of me, like a wall of iron, and I can feel the intensity of his inner struggle. His protective instinct clashes with the fury crackling in the air, like a storm waiting to be unleashed."Who the hell is Klaus?" I whisper, trying to keep my voice steady as I take a step back, aware that my presence might be more of a burden than a help.Klaus lets out a laugh that echoes through the trees. It's a hollow sound, laced with malice, and it sends a shiver racing down my spine. He takes another step toward us, his figure now bathed in the pale glow of the moon. His eyes shine with something wild, and the smile on his face feels more like a challenge than any sign of joy."Hasn't he told you, darling?" Klaus asks, his tone mocking as he looks at me with bold amusement. "I’m... an old thorn in your precious lycan’s side. Though, personally, I prefer to think of myself as a reminder of everything he trie

  • My Dark Desirable Wolf   72. A Perfect Disaster

The wind blowing through the open windows carries a cool breeze that brushes against my skin.Shadow is leaning against the window frame, staring out at the forest surrounding us, as if searching for something in the distance.Though the stillness of the moment should soothe me, I know there's a storm behind his eyes he's trying hard to hide.“You know,” I say, breaking the silence that has settled between us, “I always thought that if I ever ended up trapped in a situation as ridiculous as this, it would be with someone a bit more… normal.”He turns to me, one brow arched, that crooked smile of his already forming—clear warning that something sarcastic is about to leave his mouth.“Normal?” he repeats, dragging the word out like it’s an insult. “And where’s the fun in that?”I can’t help but laugh. The way he always twists my words back at me makes me want to punch him… or kiss him. It’s a constant inner war, one I honestly enjoy far more than I should.“I don’t know. Maybe it’d be l
