Chapter 03

Katherine's POV

We continued to stare at each other when I saw my visiting card on his dashboard.

I chuckled at him softly while he looked confused. I showed him my visiting card.

“When did I give you this? I totally forgot about it. I am having a lot of work nowadays that's why I keep forgetting things.” I said while he smiled at me and wished me a goodnight and left from there.

I changed into my night and blushed thinking about our dance when I saw my best friend, Leo, my pet dog looking at me. I showed him Benjamin's photo which I got from his social media.

“This is Benjamin. I know I promised to not love anyone and should be strong but I guess this guy is different. After Travis whenever I go on a date with someone I feel like I am cheating on him and thought that he would come for me one day but now I realized he will never come to me.” I said while Leo looked at me confused.

“I am not sure whether I am completely over Travis or not but I like Benjamin. I am actually attracted to him and his eyes. I am going to meet him tomorrow.” saying I kissed Leo and took out I phone to message Ben.

Katherine: Hi.

Benjamin: Hi, Who is this?

“Leo, he is asking me who I am. What should I reply.” I asked him and realized he can't talk.

Benjamin: Kat? I mean Katherine?

I felt goosebumps reading him calling me Kat. This is what I always wanted. An instant connection and getting to know each other in the same interest. I hope Benjamin won't turn out to be like the rest of the men.

Katherine: Yes. I just messaged to ask you whether you have reached home safely.

He saw the message but didn't reply. I felt bad thinking I again misunderstood the signals but then he sent me a pic of him eating pizza. I showed it to Leo who started licking my cheeks in happiness.

Katherine: It Looks tasty. I am about to eat my boring dinner. Okay, have fun, bye.

Goodnight.

He replied to me with a goodnight and slept wondering whether this relationship heals me or will cause more pain to me.

The next day, I went to my office but my staff members were shocked to see me.

“Why are they looking at me like that? I asked my secretary who made me stand in front of a mirror.

“This madam.” saying she pointed towards my face, “You are smiling.”

I glared at her and asked her to get everyone back to work.

“No one should gossip in my office.” I said angrily and went inside. But as I sat on my chair and realized Ben is the reason for me smiling again. I just met him yesterday but it feels like we are soulmates.

I heard my phone ringing and realized he was calling me.

“Hello, who is this?” I asked in a fake arrogant voice.

“Katherine this is Benjamin.” he said while I chuckled.

“I know Ben i was just playing.” I said while he didn't say anything.

it's.. Be.. Benjamin” he stammered and told me indirectly to call him Benjamin itself. I also noticed how he again started calling me Katherine instead of Kat.

“Sorry.” I said embarrassed and tried to keep my voice normal.

“No, No, No need to say sorry. I just felt like we were taking it too fast. Let's go slowly. I just want us to be best friends.” Benjamin said while I realized he is not into me like how I was into him.

I ended the call saying I will call him in a few minutes. Taking a deep breath calmed my heart and again promised to not expect anything from anyone.

“I should do something. I should do something” saying I started working and also took the work of other workers and gave them leave for that day.

Soon it's night 11 pm and I am still working. I heard a knock and saw Benjamin coming inside my cabin.

“What are you doing here? Mr Benjamin Augustus?” I asked him while doing my work.

“I went to your house to take you out for dinner but then realized you are still in your office.” He said while I glanced at him.

“I thought you wanted to take things slow.” I said casually without showing any emotions on my face.

“Yeah but we are friends already right? I thought about taking my friend out. You are my only friend with whom I got close in just one day.” he said while I chuckled sarcastically.

“Becoming friends with someone in one day will make them leave that friendship one day.” I said avoiding eye contact with him.

“Anyways you were teasing me with that werewolf story right? For the past two days I have been dreaming about werewolf.” I realized that he was not interested and was more interested in having dinner.

“Fine, let's leave.” I said as I can't deny him but suggested going in my car.

But on our way my car stopped moving and we were struck in the middle of the road. He tried to get help calling his secretary but nothing worked. Every mechanic said he will come only tomorrow morning.

“I will help you.” saying I started doing the repair work, surprising him.

We started the car but I was already too hungry to find a restaurant and wait for food.

“I have cup noodles in my car with other snacks. Can we eat here itself?” But he asked me about the hot water needed for making noodles.

“I like to drink only hot water. It's also in the car itself.” and we started having our dinner peacefully on that lonely road.

“How do you know to repair the car?” He asked me while I revealed how I was interested in these things from childhood itself and learnt so many skills.

“Your parents must be proud of you.” he said, making me chuckle sadly.

“Yeah. They are proud of me.” we looked at each other and I held his cheek and he was about to kiss my lips when I faced sideways and he kissed my cheeks.

We both blushed realizing what was about to happen.

“Are we sure that it's been only one day since we have met?” he asked me while I smiled happily at him wondering why he came into my life too late.

We completed our dinner and I felt sleepy. Suddenly I heard many bike sounds and people coming there on their bikes with weapons. With my half closed sleepy eyes I realized these people are there to rob us.

Slowly I fell asleep even though I shouldn't be in this situation and I heard Ben asking if I am ok before I completely lose my consciousness.
