Brody's hands trembled as he opened the metal box. Inside lay the ring he'd made for me all those years ago, the same one I'd stepped on and said made my hand feel dirty just by wearing it.

But now, on the inside of the band, there was a line of text so tiny it was almost invisible, carved with a needle point. Brody's hands shook so badly that it took him a long time to finally make out the words.
