Laura.

I stepped out of the car, taking my sunglasses from my eyes as I stared at the building before me. I walked into the building after locking my car and looking around to make sure no one had followed me.

The door was closed, but after two repeated knocks, it was pulled open from the inside.

“Laura,” I smiled as I walked into the building, without saying much.

The door closed, and the clicking sound made me know it was locked.

“How did it go?” She asked.

“Before I can answer that I need a drink. A strong one.” She didn't say anything as she walked past me to her kitchen. I followed closely behind her, watching as she brought the bottle of Jameson and two glasses.

I didn’t hesitate to open the bottle and pour the drink into our glasses. I picked up the glass and downed everything, wincing a bit when it burned down my chest.

“Fuck! Just what I need,” I whispered as I turned another round and took a little sip from it.

“So….. are you ready to speak now?” She asked, and I smiled, hea

Nicole.I was downstairs fifteen minutes later, yeah, I took longer than I planned, and that’s because my body decided to use that time to become so lazy.I had to force myself downstairs before I would crash on the bed again.I followed the voices to know where the dining room was, and it took me just a few seconds to find it.Mom was sitting on the chair with an already served meal before her, but she wasn’t alone. A man was sitting at the head of the table; he was also eating, but they both paused when I stepped into the room.I looked at him and then at Mom, who started blushing so hard as soon as our gaze met. That was everything I needed to know that this man was someone special to Mom.“Nikki, come have your seat before dinner gets cold,” she said, standing up and helping me to the chair beside her.She made sure my plate was full with food before taking her seat. I stared at the heap of food and was ready to comment about it being too much, but then realized I wasn’t eating fo

Nicole. The car pulled up in front of a big building, no, it wasn’t just any building but a mansion, one that is bigger than Jackson’s house.I couldn’t help but leave my mouth wide open in shock as I stared at the mansion.A lot of questions were on my mind, but I couldn't find myself asking them. I was in shock to even realize the car had stopped moving.I know the car, the guards, and how she dressed should be the giveaway that she was doing well, but no, I didn’t want to believe that. I had thought the car and guards belonged to the company she’s working at, or something like that. But now, staring at this huge mansion, I know it was more than that.I wanted to know how she was able to get all this when dad didn’t give her anything, how she was able to acquire these things when I know very well she doesn’t have any family. Mom was an orphan.“Come on,” she grabbed my hand, pulling me out of my head.“Wait, what about my things?” I asked. We are supposed to take them inside, right?

Nicole.Mom didn’t let go of my hand even after saying that, and I didn’t want to let go either. It still feels unreal to be holding her hand when I have never thought I would hold her again and talk more, being this close to her.At least I can say my life isn’t all black and grey now, I have found something that brought a smile to my face. Seeing my mother again made me forget thinking about Jackson and his many problems.Speaking of Jackson and the divorce….“How did you know about Jackson and me separating?” I asked the one question that she used to grip my attention from the start.“I…..I saw that he wasn’t wearing his ring and he was with another woman, kissing her on her lips like he wasn’t married.” She said with a scowl on her face. What was she talking about? How and where did she meet Jackson? And how did she see Jackson without him knowing who she was?“You saw him with her?” I asked softly. My heart ached at the thought of Jackson with Laura, even after he hadn't signed.

Nicole. We stared at each other without saying anything since we stepped into my room. I noticed how she looked around the place with a scowl of disapproval before taking her seat on the bed.Since there wasn’t much space in the room, the bed was the only available space to sit on.“How have you been?” She asked, breaking the silence.I opened my mouth ready to answer, but then shut it.I don’t know how to answer that. So instead of saying something that would definitely hurt her and make me regret it later on, I decided to say the one word that came to my head.“I’m fine.” She stared skeptically at me like she didn’t believe my words.Again, the room went silent, my stomach felt queasy as we both tried hard not to look at each other. She said she wanted to talk, but why wasn’t she saying anything now that we’re in here? She should talk, tell me where she had been all this while. As much as I want to keep lying to myself that I don’t want anything to do with her, I want to know why sh

Nicole. I stood frozen as I tried to think myself out of this. No, this can’t be happening. This….. it wasn’t possible. There’s no way that could be her, there’s no way that could be my….. I shook my head, I must be going mad. I think I am. I was there when they were bringing her down in that casket, I was there when they closed it, and when the whole thing was done. I was there, so how the hell is she here? Too much thinking has made me mad. I laughed as I shook my head. “Nicole,” she called again, but I didn’t turn around. It wasn’t her, maybe I was hearing things. “Please look at me, Nikki,” she called, and that got a reaction from me. What? Slowly, I turned around, hoping it wasn’t just my ears playing tricks on me. Hoping it was…. I didn’t know I was crying until the tears rolled down my cheeks. It was her. My heart beats faster and louder as I stare at the familiar face I have imprinted in my head. She was standing before me, looking okay and not….. not dead. “H

Nicole. The car ride was silent. My whole body was still shaking from the encounter I just had with Jackson.‘A whore’That’s what he called me. I have been nothing but faithful to him for the past three years, we have been married, and this, this is what I get from him. There was no sight of remorse in his eyes after he called me that, the fucking bastard.Who does he think he is to call me that?“Are you alright?” The silence was broken by Rowan’s question.I let out a sigh. I don’t think I’m alright, though; I don’t think I will ever be.“I am.”“You sure?” He asked again, and that caused me to look at him.“Why would you think I’m not alright when I have just told you that I am?” I asked.“I can tell you’re still mad with how tightly you’re clenching your fist.” His eyes looked at my hand, and I followed his gaze; truly, he wasn’t lying.“I hope that isn’t for me.” He joked, and my lips tugged at the side a bit.I feel a bit better than I did before leaving the restaurant. Rowan di

Jackson. My teeth ground together as I take a good look at the people before me. My blood boils as rage filled me, what the fuck is she doing her and to make the whole thing worse she was with fucking Steele.“Diana,” I called, moving closer to her without knowing I was dragging Laura with me.“Jackson,” she called, staring at me with her eyes wide open like a thief caught stealing. What is she doing here? And with him?“What are you doing here?” I asked, forcing myself not to unleash every single anger in my body. Before she could answer, and I realized my question was stupid, I turned my gaze to the man standing beside her. His fucking hand was still wrapped around hers causing me to grind my teeth tighter so I wouldn’t do anything stupid.I’m already thinking of some stupid stuff I could do to him right now.“What is he doing here? Why are you together?” I asked the one question I have been waiting to ask since I saw her. They looked like they were either going into the restaurant

Jackson.I was pissed at Laura after the lady left and didn’t let her stay to say what she wanted, although she did yell at me for not introducing her as my girlfriend. I mean, she isn’t my girlfriend, she’s just carrying my child. There’s a big difference between them.I ran my hand through my hair over and over again for the past hour now I couldn’t stop staring at my laptop and then calling Giselle to know if she had received any emails from HT today, but her reply was still the same thing.I haven’t called her for an hour now, I kept myself busy with other paperwork that needed my urgent attention and when I was done, I decided to call her.“Giselle, anything yet?” I asked, and she let out a breath while muttering something that sounded like a minute.“No, Mr Davenport. There hasn't been any email, I promise to call you once it comes through.” I thanked her and hung up.Fuck!I needed this partnership to work more than ever; I didn’t want to say this, but my company was facing a b
