Chapter 39

Ria's POV.

I sat next to Miguel since that was the only empty seat. "I guess you are showing your true colors now." Miguel muttered, moving closer to me so I could hear what he just said.

True colors? What did he mean by that? Sometimes, I wonder how he got to this stage with the level of intelligence he had.

This was the first time I would be seeing him after that incident. I didn't have enough time to scold him.

"Just shut the fuck up." I whispered to him.

What made him think he could talk to me after that incident?

"What do you think you are doing, Luca? Have you forgotten you have to meet us before making any important decisions, just like the one you did this morning? One of the men in the room started first.

"The position has been empty for a while, and I found the right person who was perfect for the job. Do I have to discuss it with you?" He defended.

Everyone knew he was in the wrong here, but he was still trying to defend me and himself.

"That's not the point.

  • My Ex-Husband's Brother    Chapter 167

Avia’s POV My body lay still beside his, but my mind wouldn’t shut off. Every sound—the ticking of the clock, the faint hum of the city outside, even the slow rhythm of his breathing—seemed too loud. My chest ached with a heaviness I couldn’t explain, a weight that pressed deeper with each passing second. By the time dawn broke, I had barely closed my eyes. Tristan stirred before me. His hand brushed lazily across my waist before he slipped out of bed. The sheets lifted, and the sudden absence of his warmth made me curl tighter into myself. I watched him silently through half-open eyes, the way he pulled on his shirt with quick, distracted movements. His jaw was set, brows pulled together in thought. He looked like a man carrying too much, and for a moment, I wanted to reach out and stop him. Ask him what was wrong. Demand answers to all the things he never says. But I didn’t. I stayed still until he left the room. The moment the door clicked shut, I exhaled shakily, sitting up

  • My Ex-Husband's Brother    Chapter 166.

Tristan’s POVMorning sunlight leaked in through the half-drawn blinds, cutting sharp lines across the floor of my room. My head was heavy, still buzzing from everything that had happened yesterday. I rolled over, staring at the ceiling, but it wasn’t blank anymore—it was crowded with voices, accusations, and the kind of silence you never really forget.Brianne showing up at the house still didn’t make sense. Her voice, her face, that stupid photo in her hand—it was all glued to my mind like it had been branded there. I kept telling myself it couldn’t be true, that I couldn’t possibly be the father of her child. I had tried explaining that to Avia last night, fumbling over words like a guilty man even though she had stopped me halfway.“I know you wouldn’t do that,” she had whispered, her face soft in the dim light. “You don’t have to prove it to me.”Her faith in me should have been enough to calm my nerves, but it hadn’t. Because the truth was, I didn’t even trust myself anymore. Ev

  • My Ex-Husband's Brother    Validation?

Chapter — Avia’s POVThe air in the house was cold when I woke up, far colder than it had any right to be. My fingers brushed against the side of the bed where Tristan had slept last night, but all I felt was emptiness. His scent still lingered on the pillow, faint, stubborn, and painfully comforting. He had left without a word again.I sat up slowly, my heart twisting in a way I hated. How many times was I going to allow this cycle to repeat? He drew me close, whispered promises in my ear, and then vanished the moment morning came like everything he said was fragile enough to break with the sunrise. The silence was broken by soft footsteps outside the room. My entire body tensed. It wasn’t Tristan. I knew the weight of his footsteps like I knew the beat of my own heart.Brianne.She pushed the door open just a little, her face appearing like a shadow at the crack. Her smile was smug in a way that made my chest tighten.“Oh. You’re awake,” she said, her voice dripping with fake sweetn

Avia’s POVThe night felt endless. Even after Tristan came back into the room, his warmth against me wasn’t enough to lull me into sleep. My body lay still beside his, but my mind wouldn’t shut off. • My Ex-Husband's Brother    Chapter 164

Chapter 164Avia’s POVI woke up to silence. The kind of silence that creeps into your chest and makes your heart beat faster because you know something isn’t right. Tristan’s side of the bed was cold, empty, as though he had been gone for hours. My hands brushed against the sheets, hoping I was wrong, hoping he had just rolled to the far end. But no.The alarm clock blinked red at me. 4:30 a.m.I sat up slowly, the duvet falling off my body, and my eyes roamed the dimly lit room. Something else was missing too—Brianne. The little snake who had wormed her way into our lives, always finding the perfect time to poison my peace. She wasn’t here.My stomach tightened. If Tristan wasn’t here, and Brianne wasn’t here, then where the hell were they?I tried to tell myself not to think the worst. That maybe Tristan had gone out for a walk, maybe Brianne had left to get water, maybe I was just being paranoid. But paranoia was better than naivety. I wasn’t naïve anymore. Life had beaten that ou

  • My Ex-Husband's Brother    Mystery?

Chapter — Avia’s POVThe silence in the house was louder than anything I had ever heard. It clung to my skin, heavy, suffocating, reminding me of words I wished I could unhear.Brianne’s voice replayed in my head, that smug tone dripping with secrets she never meant for me to catch. My heart still raced from it. I sat at the edge of the bed, my knees pulled close, as if folding myself smaller could somehow drown out the echo of her laughter. What was she hiding?I couldn’t shake the way she had sounded—so sure, so careless. It wasn’t just her usual taunting. This was different. It was darker, crueler.I swallowed hard and pressed my palm to my chest. Tristan wasn’t home. He had left early, muttering something about meetings that needed his attention. I didn’t question him; I didn’t want to. But the empty space he left behind only made the walls feel thinner, the whispers in my mind louder.Brianne hadn’t left the house. She moved like she owned the place, her footsteps clicking softly
