Chapter Two
Camilla ~•~ “What’s this?” I asked, feigning ignorance. “Open it.” He said. I opened the file he handed to me and brought the documents out. They were divorce papers. I flipped through them and let out a laugh but there was no humor in it. He turned around to leave and then said, “Sign those before I get back.” I laughed again. “I’m not signing these.” He turned back to me. “What do you mean you’re not signing it?” I threw the papers at his face. “I’m not signing it.” “Camilla, don’t be difficult. Sign the papers so we can go our separate ways. I’m tired of this.” He picked the papers up, arranged them, and handed them back to me. “Are you deaf? I’m not signing it. You’re going to divorce me and go be with Tori?” “This is not about Tori. It’s about us and the fact that we’ve been in a loveless marriage for three years.” “I love you Raffael. I’ve always loved you. Why won’t you love me back?” “Love you back?” He scoffed. “You and your grandfather forced me into this marriage.” He screamed angrily. “You had a choice Raffael. If you didn’t want it you would have refused.” “Fuck you, Camilla.” He said and went out of the room. I followed after him. “Where the fuck do you think you’re going?” “Away from you and all of this.” He said walking out the door. “Make sure you sign before I get back except you prefer it the hard way.” I followed behind him and watched him get in his car and drive out of the compound. I took a deep breath and went back into the house. I picked up my phone and called Skye “I’m coming over.” “Ok. I’ll be waiting.” I got to her house in less than twenty minutes. I parked outside and made my way to the door. When she opened the door she welcomed me with a big hug. “How are you?” She asked, still in the embrace. “I’m good.” “What happened? What’s going on?” She asked again as we broke the hug. “Come, sit.” We went to the couch and sat down. “Raffael gave me divorce papers,” I said, sighing. “What?” She exclaimed, genuinely shocked. “He gave you divorce papers? Why?” “He said he doesn’t want to continue in a loveless marriage.” “Oh my God.” She pulled me in for another hug. “Did you sign it?” “No. I told him I wouldn’t.” “And what did he have to say about that?” “He told me to sign them before he got back or we would have to do it the hard way.” Tears started rolling down my cheeks and I didn’t even know when. “He says he doesn’t love me anymore. What am I going to do Skye?” “Cammy, don’t cry. We’ll get through this.” She said, stroking my hair. “Is it about Tori?” “He says it is not but I don’t believe him. How can he randomly give me divorce papers the day after our anniversary when he was out with his ex-girlfriend? I’m not a kid!” “You guys need to talk about this maturely. The media is already going crazy. The headlines are outrageous. Where is he?” I doubted he still cared about what the media thought. “I don’t know, he stormed out of the house after we fought.” I sniffed trying to hold back my tears. “You guys are going to fix this okay?” She said, reassuring me. “It’s not the end.” “Can we go somewhere? I need to clear my head and it’s suffocating inside.” “Where do you want to go?” “I don’t know.” I shrugged. “Anywhere’s fine as long as it’s away from everything.” We got out of the house and Skye was driving. I didn’t know where she was taking me but I was grateful to be going out. We drove for a long time before we finally stopped outside an amusement park. I looked at her and laughed. “An amusement park? Really?” “What? It’s the best place for a distraction.” She says unbuckling her seat belt. “And you used to love coming here all the time. Come on, let's go.” We got out of the car and went to get our tickets. We got inside and I instantly felt like a child again. We spent almost the whole day there, going from ride to ride. It felt peaceful. After a long day, we were both tired and decided to leave. “Thank you,” I said to Skye when we got in the car. “Sincerely, I don’t know what I would do without you.” “It’s no big deal. That’s what friends are for.” She was about to speak again when she was interrupted by my phone ringing. I checked the caller and saw that it was my assistant. “Hello?” “I’ve been trying to reach you” “Why? Is there any problem?” “I’ll send it to you right now.” She hung up the phone and my phone pinged. She sent me a video. A video of my husband and his ex-girlfriend kissing. The clothes he was wearing were the clothes he was on when he left the house. I felt an unfamiliar ache in my chest and I placed my hand above it, hoping it would numb the pain. It did nothing. “What is it?” I showed her the video and she gasped. “Oh my God. I’m so sorry.” “You don’t have anything to be sorry about.” I shook my head as she handed me my phone. It wasn’t her fault. She had nothing to do with my cheating husband. “What are you going to do about it?” “Nothing.” “Nothing?” She exclaimed. “Cammy, I know you love him but you have to sign those papers. He’s embarrassed you enough already.” “I don’t know Skye. Let’s see about that.” He was hurting me but I still didn’t want to let him go. I knew it was pathetic but I couldn’t help how I felt about him. Looking away from Skye’s pitiful gaze, I called my assistant back. “Where did you get this from?” “It’s all over the news.” My heart broke. “Okay. I’ll speak to you later.” “Cammy…” Skye trailed off.” “Don’t. I don’t want to talk about it. Let’s go.” I buckled up and she started driving. I was going to deal with my failing marriage later. I was too exhausted to think about it.Chapter One Hundred and Ten Raphael’s POVI woke up pretty early in the morning. I wanted to get ready early to go to the project site. I was dreading seeing Danielle. Not because I was afraid of her or anything but because I didn’t want things to be awkward between us. She told me things I'm sure nobody else knew. I wondered if she would remember. After getting ready, I headed out of my hotel room. I got in the elevator to head downstairs. When I got downstairs, some of the team members were waiting for the rest of us to arrive. Danielle hadn’t come yet. I assumed she would have a headache or handover from the previous night.I greeted the others and tried to make small talk with them. We waited for a few minutes before everybody arrived. Danielle kept on avoiding eye contact with me. She was probably embarrassed. That meant she remembered. She was still her usual self though, bossy and all. Some people got in the van to take them to the site while I went in the car with Danielle an
Chapter One Hundred and Nine Camilla’s POVI couldn’t sleep, not when my grandpa was in a coma. I was scared for him. What if he woke up and things weren’t the same as before?Even though I told Raphael not to worry about me and go on his trip, there was a part of me that wanted him to stay and be there for me. But I was trying not to be selfish. He still had his life apart from me.He came very early in the morning to see me and Rory before leaving for his trip. I got ready for the day, dropped Rory off at school and headed to the hospital to check up on him. There were still no signs of him waking up yet. His vitals were stable though, that was a little glimmer of hope. I stayed with him for about 2 hours before heading to the office. As much as I wanted to spend the whole day with him, life had to continue for the rest of us.As expected, there were already rumors of what happened to my grandpa. As much as we tried to keep everything under wraps, the media still found a way to get
Chapter One Hundred and Eight Raphael’s POVI was skeptical about leaving in a time when Camilla would need me the most but I had to take her word for it. Like she said, it was just two days. Soon I’ll be back with her.I paid a visit to her before I left for my trip that morning. As we took off on the plane, I tried my best not to think of her too much but still kept her at the back of my mind. If I needed to do my work efficiently, I needed to free myself from distractions. After seven hours, we finally landed in Los Angeles, California. We first made our way to the hotel, it was a long flight for all of us. When I settled in, I texted Camilla to ask her if there was any update on the chairman. She called and we talked for a while. He wasn’t showing any signs of waking up still.I had to get off the phone because we had dinner with some of the project managers along with Danielle and her team. I had to start getting ready quite early. After I was done getting ready, I got out of my
Chapter One Hundred and SevenCamilla’s POVI was getting ready for dinner with Raphael. I liked how things were with us. I wish there were a way for us to forget about our current lives and move across the country to start a new life. Being in the public eye was not for the weak.Everybody else in the house had fallen asleep except for my grandpa. He was in his study still doing work even though his doctor had advised him not to stay up too late.Raphael texted me to tell me he had arrived. I did finishing touches on my makeup, took one last look at myself in the mirror, and headed out. I had worn the jewelry he got for me at that auction. I wondered if he would notice.“Grandpa, don't stay up too late, okay?” I said as I opened the door to his study.“I know. You don't have to keep nagging me. Go, go. Have fun on your little date.”I laughed. “Bye. I love you.”“I love you too.”By the time I got downstairs, I heard the doorbell ring. I went and opened it. Raphael stood on the other
Chapter One Hundred and SixRaphael’s POVAfter eight days, our trip had finally come to an end. The last few days were the best days of my life. Me, Camilla and the kids were living like a true family. Camilla and I were acting like we’d been married for ten years. For once, we forgot about everything else and focused on ourselves. We loaded the last boxes inside the car and said goodbye to the villa. I think it was somewhere I would always remember. It signified the start of something good and new.The drive to the airport was calm. We got on the flight and were on our way back to New York. After 11 hours, we finally got to New York. It was around 8pm when we arrived. The kids were tired. We dropped Rory and Camilla off at their house and then made our way to our house.Jason went to sleep immediately we arrived and I stayed up for a few hours before going to bed. I was on a call with Camilla. We fell asleep on the call. The next day, I woke up later than usual. I was still trying t
Chapter One Hundred and FiveCamilla’s POVAs soon as we kissed it felt like butterflies erupted in my stomach. I thought I was a bit old for that. He pulled away and looked me in the eyes, as if asking for permission to continue. I knew what he wanted and I wanted it too so I nodded. He pulled in again and this time we kissed with more passion. I missed the taste of his lips. I wrapped my hands around his neck. It was like we couldn’t get enough of each other. I kept leaning in and he kept pulling me in. He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his torso. He took me to the bed and then hovered above me. He pulled away. We were both out of breath. “Are you sure?” He asked in a hoarse voice.“Yes.” I sounded really desperate. He moved his lips to my neck and a soft moan came out of my mouth. He sucked on my neck and eventually made his way down. He unbuttoned my shirt and then looked at me for confirmation. I gave him the go-ahead.He took his time unbuckling it and then threw th
