Chapter Three
Raffael ~~ I drove my car out of the compound looking at her through the rearview mirror as she watched me leave, looking defeated. She had refused to sign the papers claiming it was because of Tori. That was half true. I’d already planned to file for divorce months ago, Tori coming back was just the tip of the iceberg. Three years ago we got married because she liked me. She persuaded her grandfather to meet with my dad and organize an arranged marriage for us. My father, in a bid to save his failing company, had no choice but to agree. I only agreed to it because of my father but after he passed a year ago, I had no reason to be in a marriage where I didn’t love my wife. My mum and sister weren’t in support of our marriage so I had backup for the divorce. I drove to the hotel where Tori was staying. I parked at the underground parking and made my way to the elevator. I pressed the button to go up to the fifth floor and made my way to her suite. “Tori?” I called out as I went into the room. “I’m in here.” She said from the balcony. She came out dressed in a little cropped top and tight short shorts. She came and engulfed me in a hug. “I gave her the divorce papers,” I said as we broke the hug. “You did? Oh my God.” She squealed as she walked back to the balcony. I followed behind her. “She refused to sign it though.” “Why?” “I don’t know but I’ll definitely get her to sign it,” I said as I sat on one of the stools. “She manipulated you into marrying her, it’s no surprise she doesn’t want to sign the papers.” “How so?” I asked, curious to hear what she had to say. “She knew your father couldn’t refuse the offer her grandfather made. She also knew her grandfather would do anything to make her happy and now she’s acting like the spoiled brat she is and refusing to sign the papers.” “Interesting,” I said, nodding my head. “Come here,” I added, dragging her towards me. I pulled her in for a hug holding her tight. After she pulled away, we stared at each other for a while then she kissed me. Her lips felt familiar yet foreign at the same time that I couldn’t help but kiss her back. I withdrew after a few seconds, shaking my head. “I’m still married to my wife. This isn’t supposed to happen.” I wanted to divorce her but that didn’t mean I wanted to cheat on her. “It didn’t matter then and it shouldn’t matter now.” She shrugged, going back to the living area. “I was drunk then.” “Still doesn’t change the fact that it happened.” She turned back around. “She needs to sign those papers quickly. I don’t want to hear that excuse again.” “She’ll sign it. It’ll only be a couple of days.” “Better.” We hung around in bed. We didn’t do anything inappropriate, we just talked, watched a movie, and ate food I prepared. After a long day, I decided to go back home to face my reality. I said goodbye and went down to my car. I got in and drove off. I made a quick stop at the office to sign some documents then headed home. As soon as I parked my car in the driveway, I got a call from my assistant. “Mr Edwards there are videos and pictures of you kissing your ex-girlfriend on the news.” “What?” I said shocked. How the hell did they get a picture of me and Tori kissing? “We’re trying our best to take down the articles and erase the news but everyone’s talking about it.” “Make sure it dies down before tomorrow. I’ll call you later.” I said and hung up the phone. “Fuck.” I cursed under my breath, knowing how it would affect our reputations. After taking a deep breath, I exited the car. I went into the house and rushed upstairs. Camilla shouldn’t see the video that was circulating. She would throw a tantrum again and refuse to sign the papers. I went to the room but I couldn’t find her. I went to the backyard but she wasn’t there either. I checked every possible place in the house she could be but she was nowhere to be found. “Martha,” I called. “Martha.” She came rushing. “Yes, Mr Edwards?” “Where’s Camilla?” “She left immediately after you did this morning. She didn’t tell me where she was going.” “So she’s been out all day?” “Yes.” “You can go.” I waved her off. I picked up my phone and was about to call her when I heard a car pull up in the driveway. I went out the door and saw as she came down from her car. “Where have you been?” I asked as soon as she reached the door. She didn’t give me an answer and acted like I didn’t exist as she walked past me. She went upstairs and I followed behind her. “Camilla, answer me,” I demanded frantically, following behind her. I held her wrist as she was about to go into the room. She looked at her hand which I held and looked back at me. She didn’t say anything but her stare was deadly enough to make me release her hand. Has she seen the video already? I followed her into the room. I watched as she moved around the room, taking her jewelry off and undressing. “Camila,” I said again. “Don’t act like I’m not standing in front of you. I need an answer. Where were you?” She folded her arms and walked up to me. “That’s none of your business.” She said, quoting me from earlier this morning. I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. “I’m sorry.” “Yeah right.” She walked back to her dresser to clean her face. “While you were out kissing that bitch, I was with Skye at an amusement park.” She had seen the video. “What were you doing at an amusement park?” She looked at me crazy. “That’s the question you’re asking?” She walked back to me. “You don’t have anything to say about you kissing Tori? It’s bad enough you were out with her last night, now you’re kissing her? Do you have to embarrass me like that?” “Look, it was a mistake. She kissed me, I didn’t kiss her.” She raised her hand and landed a slap on my face. “Say that again.” I moved my hand to feel the place where she slapped me. My cheek was throbbing really bad. “Did you just slap me?” “Yes, and I’ll do it again if you keep lying to me.”Chapter One Hundred and Twenty TwoRaphael’s POVAfter my call with Camilla, I called my assistant to arrange for extra security to be put around the house. I also carried more security when I was on my way to work. When I got to work, I met with my assistant and cybersecurity team. They were working on tracing the file that contained our plans. They also filled me in on what had happened.I had a meeting with my legal team. We needed to file a lawsuit that would at least stop the progress of our rivals. They couldn’t get away with stealing our designs. We also contacted the city to inform them.I called for an emergency meeting with the board. Most of them were already aware of the situation at hand. It was a few minutes but eventually we all settled down in the conference room.We started the meeting by talking about the breach and what we were doing to correct it. “We all are very concerned about your position.” One of the older board members said. He used to be my fathers right h
Chapter One Hundred and Twenty OneCamilla’s POVI had talked to my grandpa about my conversation with Jeremy. He said he was going to inform his assistant to continue with the investigation. It was going to be a full sweep of everybody on the board.I was having vivid nightmares of what happened in that room with Jeremy which ended with him attacking me. I woke up at various points during the night breaking out in sweats.I was really tired when I woke up but I didn’t want to rot in bed all day. I got up as early as I could and went to check up on my grandpa and then Rory. After getting ready for the day, we went downstairs to have breakfast. While we were having breakfast, I got a call from my grandpa's assistant. I figured he wanted to give me updates on the case. I stepped away from the table to answer.“Hello.”“We have bad news.” He said and my heart dropped. “What happened?”“Jeremy escaped. He's on the run now. The police are currently searching for him. He disappeared around
Chapter One Hundred and TwentyRaphael’s POVIt seeme like there was never meant to be a moment of rest for us. We first thought everything had ended with Jeremy but it was clear that was something bigger behind it. I could see that Camilla was drained, really drained. I suggested that she take a step back from everything and let the lawyers and the team handle it. She was also worried about what her grandfather had told her about taking over the company.I thought it was a good idea. She of all people deserved to run the company. But before all of that, we needed to get rid of the threat that was lurking around. Since Jeremy was not working alone, there was someone out there that still wanted their family gone. After she left the house, I went upstairs to check on Jason and Tori. I’d found a new place for Tori to stay. This one was much more secure and I’d also hired security for her.I knocked on her door.“Come in.” She said.I walked inside and she and Jason were on the bed. Chapter One Hundred and NineteenCamilla’s POVAfter Raphael found out Jeremy was behind the article and every other thing, he reported to the police along with evidence. New charges were filed against him along with the existing ones.I’d finally told my grandpa that Jeremy was the one behind his heart attack. He refused to believe he was working alone. I also told him that when they were questioning him, his father came in and left in a matter of minutes. My grandpa requested to talk to him personally but I advised him not to. Talking to him would only rile him up and make his health worse. I told him I would talk to him instead.Jeremy’s charges were released to the public and people were already speculating on why he came after mine and Raphael’s family. There were different theories going around. I got ready early that morning to go and see Jeremy. When I got to the station, I entered the small interrogation room and waited for him to arrive. After waiting for a few minutes, he
Chapter One Hundred and Eighteen Raphael’s POVAs soon as I finished my phone call with Camilla, I went online to see what was happening. Jeremy’s arrest had already started making the rounds online. There were many speculations on what was happening.I couldn’t believe it at first. What motive would he have behind everything? And how stupid was he to leave his traces everywhere? I didn’t think he was working alone.Jason and Tori were going to spend the night at my place. They had already found out their address and had stormed the place. I had to look for new accommodation for Tori because after all this was over she couldn’t go back there.Jason just fell asleep. He was crying since the incident happened saying he couldn’t understand why people were throwing things at them. Most of them were already in police custody on grounds of assault while the rest managed to escape. Tori had already settled into one of the guest rooms. I knocked on her door.“Come in.” She said.I walked in
Chapter One Hundred and Seventeen Camilla’s POVThe investigations were going kind of smoothly. Somehow word had gotten out that it was happening so reporters were camping outside the company hoping to get a story. We didn’t want any of it to get out so there wouldn’t be any problems in the company but somehow it did.I could say we were close to catching the culprit. All through all of the mess, I was staying indoors. My grandpa had also been discharged from the hospital but he was still on bed rest. This time around, he wouldn’t return back to work for another month or more.Carla and other house staff had been interrogated and they were already cleared and had resumed their duties.“Your grandfather's asking you,” Carla said.“Okay. I’ll be there in a minute.” I finished up what I was doing on my laptop and made my way to his room. I knocked softly then opened the door.“Camilla.”“Hey, grandpa. How are you feeling?”“Good. I wanted to talk to you about something.”“What is it?”
