-The next day-

“Huh? Why would she be back? Chase her out!” Ivy Scott, Elena best friend exclaimed after listening to Elena situation.

Elena shook her head, “No. she’s sick. I’m not heartless..the least I could do for her right now is to accommodate her. Lucas is the only person she has,” Elena explained while Ivy scoffed.

“And you’re not? Isn’t he the one who married you? Come to think of it, no one knows you! He kept your marriage a secret, didn’t he?” Ivy lashed, drinking her latte coffee aggressively. One could tell she was angry on Elena’s behalf.

Then, Elena suddenly gagged. Her morning sickness kicked in. Before she could say a word, she rushed to the bathroom.

She returned and Ivy’s face was already doing all the questions she might want to ask. “Girl? Are you-?”Ivy asked looking at Elena’s stomach.

Elena pressed her lips against each other and nod. Ivy gasped, “You’re pregnant??! What?!” Ivy voice was louder than a police siren.

“Keep it low. Yes, I am.”

“Does Lucas know?” Ivy threw the next question almost immediately.

“I’m waiting for the perfect time to tell him. I don’t think it’s necessary…he’s talking about a divorce..” Elena said, drinking her lemon tea slowly. Her heart dropped at the mention of the divorce.

Is it going to end like that?

“Jokes on him. You’re going to tell him. Once he’s aware of your pregnancy, he will accept you. You’re carrying his heir! Heir to the Rhodes!” Ivy added.

“But-”

“You know what? You’re telling him today, I will drive you there myself,” Ivy suggested.

Elena widened her eyes, “What..?”

Within a twinkle of an eye, Ivy had already reached Rhodes company. Elena looked out through the window and sighed, “Do I really have to tell him? He’s..”

“Yes, you have. He’s the father of your baby, he has all right to know. Go girl…own what’s yours!” Ivy backed. Her positive energy making Elena has hope, she got down from the car while Ivy popped out her head through the window.

“Text me when you’re done. I’m sorry I couldn’t follow you in..” Ivy pouted while Elena simply shook her head.

“No, I understand. You have to take your grandma from the hospital…” Elena told her.

“Byeeee!” With that Ivy zoomed off, Elena looked at the tall Rhodes company standing in her front, the last she came here was when he wanted to give Lucas his car keys, no one knows her anyways.

Ivy encouragement has already served as a courage to enter the compamy with Elena’s head high. She walked to the two ladies on the counter, “Good morning ladies,” Elena said and the two ladies looked up.

“Good morning, how may we help you?” One answered, scanning Elena’s shabby outfit from head to toe.

“Is Lucas in? I need to see him,” Elena asked and the two ladies exchange a weird looks before rolling their eyes.

“And who are you?” One asked again.

Elena cleared her throat, she’s not going to hid anylonger…afterall she’s carrying his child! She deserves to be known! “I’m his wife,” She answered and the two ladies bursted out in laughter.

“Wife you say? If you’re the wife then we are his mistress! Quit dreaming and get out of this place! Lying brat!” One lashed out on her.

Elena was shocked. “Don’t speak to me like that, I will report you to my husband and you will be fired!” She yelled.

One of the ladies acted like she was scared, “Oh…you’re going to report us,,,,oh, I’m so scared. A scam is going to report us.” she micmicked with so much sarcasm.

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you!” Elena told them, and wanted to head to Lucas office, the two ladies stopped her by blocking her way.

“You’re a fraud. There’s no way you can be our boss wife! The only wife he has is Tara Andrew!” One of them yelled, making Elena’s eyes almost popped out.

“That’s a lie! I’m his wife! His legal wife!” Elena defended herself.

Instead, the ladies laughed, “Get out before Ms. Tara comes out. It won’t be funny, you’re pretending to be her! You poor thing!” One added.

“You’re so doomed. I will make sure the both of you get fired!” Elena promised and one of the ladies landed a slap on her face.

Elena was shocked, did she just slap her? “What-what did you just do?” Elena asked holding onto her red cheeks.

“Yes. I will slap you again if someone like you threatens to get us fired. You’re a liar! You should be disgraced! Youre disgusting our rich clients,” One pointed out.

Elena managed to look at the people in the company, they were elites. She was no where close to them…she was just a leverage to Lucas’s wealth.

Elena was about to break down when someone’s voice interrupted, “What’s happening here?” Tara asked.

Elena felt a little bit of hope, Tara was going to defend her! “Tara..”

“Ma’am, someone is impersonating you. She claims to be Mr Lucas wife.” One of the ladies cut Elena off.

Tara raised an eye, “Who?” She asked and Elena came forward.

“Punish her! She’s a liar!”

Tara definitely looked at Elena in the eye and said, “Don’t treat a beggar so poorly. She’s human too. Give her some money and chase her out,” Tara instructed and one could see how shocked Elena was.

Tara can’t do this to her?

“Heard her? She’s so kind for not punishing you! Now get out,” One commanded but Elena was adamant.

She will wait till Lucas is out before she conclude on what to do. ‘Tara is going to regret ever denying me! I will make sure she’s punished,’ Elena said in her head.

One of the ladies pushed her to the floor, making her stomach hit the ground and a sharp pain hit her. “Arghh, my stomach. It hurts!” Elena elbow hit a sharp object, blood gushed out.

She was passing through a severe pain but Tara just stood there, watching her with a weird smile.

“What’s happening here? Who’s that?” Lucas finally appeared at the scene. His eyes saw Elena, he furrowed his brows.

“ Elena?” He exclaimed and was about running to meet her when Tara suddenly acted like she was about to faint.

“Argh, Lucas. My head is pounding. Please take me to the hospital,” Tara said, her voice so weak.

Elena was still going through pains but all who Lucas cared about was Tara.

“Let’s go,” Lucas glanced at Elena but carried Tara in his arms, rushing out.

“You should go to your wife. She’s not feeling well too..” Tara suggested on their way out but Lucas shook his head.

“Elena will understand. I'm sure she can manage herself. Your health comes first,” Lucas said to her but Elena heard him crystal clear and her heart broke even more.

How could he? Love has the most craziest way to hurt.
