“Do you have to go with him?” I asked quietly, my voice barely above a whisper as Logan turned back toward me.

Logan offered a soft smile, the kind that tried to reassure but didn’t quite reach his eyes. “It’s nothing serious. Just a quick conversation. I’ll be back soon.”

I opened my mouth, wanting to ask more, to say I didn’t like the way that man had looked at him. But Logan gave me a subtle look. A don’t-worry look.

I swallowed my words and nodded slowly. “Okay.”

He leaned in, voice lower now. “If anything feels strange… text me. Right away.”

Then he was gone.

And I was alone.

I stood in a corner of the grand hall, surrounded by people who sparkled under the golden light like they were born to belong here. My purse felt too tight in my hands. My dress, once something I’d loved, now felt too bold, too bright.

I didn't know where to go.

“Feeling lost?” a warm voice said beside me.

I turned to see Susan—the kind woman I’d met earlier. She held a wine glass in one hand, her lipstick a

Haley’s POV:The afternoon sun was warm but gentle, the kind that made the water sparkle like a sheet of glass scattered with diamonds. Lily was knee-deep in the water, holding her arms out as tiny waves lapped against her legs.I stayed close to the shore, watching her. She had been taking swimming lessons for a while, but she still wasn’t confident in deep water. She could float, kick, and paddle well enough in the shallow end, but the moment her feet couldn’t touch the bottom, panic always took over.Sebastian noticed too. He stood beside me, his feet sinking slightly into the wet sand, his eyes on Lily. “She’s good,” he said, “but she’s hesitating.”I glanced at him. “Yeah, she freezes up in the deeper section even in pool.”“Mind if I try helping her?” he asked. His tone wasn’t pushy — just matter-of-fact, like he’d already made up his mind to give her a boost if she’d let him.I hesitated, then nodded slowly. “Let’s ask her first.”We walked closer, the water cooling our feet. “

Haley’s POV:I sat on the edge of the bed, phone in hand, staring at the message I’d just typed. My thumbs hovered over the screen for a second before pressing send. How’s my mom?The reply came a minute later from Peter. She’s stable, Haley. The surgery went well. But she’s still weak. Needs at least a week of rest before she can handle too many visitors.I exhaled, some of the tension in my chest loosening. Still, a dull worry remained. Is she in pain? I typed.Peter replied almost immediately.Minimal. But her mood isn’t great. I think she’s feeling a bit down.I closed my eyes for a moment. “That’s exactly what I was afraid of,” I muttered under my breath.Logan came out of the bathroom, towel draped over his neck. His hair was damp, messy from the quick rub with the towel. He noticed my expression right away.“What did Peter say?” he asked.I put my phone down. “She’s stable. Surgery went well. But she needs more time… maybe a week before visitors. And—Peter said she’s not in the

Haley’s POV:The sound of Susan’s voice cut through the noise of the street.“Help me!” she shouted, her voice high and panicked.Logan’s head turned instantly. I followed his gaze and saw her. The man had caught up to her and now Susan was struggling in the grip of a man whose hand was clamped hard around her arm. His face was half-hidden in shadow, but I could see the ugly set of his jaw and the way he leaned toward her like he owned her.“Stay here,” Logan murmured in my ear, his voice low, tight. His arm around my waist tightened. “Don’t move.”The man looked up and saw us watching. His lip curled into a sneer. “Mind your own business.”Logan stepped forward. “Let her go.”“She’s fine,” the man said, gripping Susan’s arm even tighter. She winced, trying to pull back.“Does she look fine to you?” Logan’s voice was calm but sharp, each word clipped. The man’s eyes narrowed. “Walk away. This isn’t your problem.”Logan’s tone didn’t change. “Last chance.”The man gave a mocking laugh.

  • My Ex-husband And Son Wants Me Back After Divorce   Chapter 125 Bribing my people

Haley's POV:Logan’s shadow fell over me before I even saw him. I felt the familiar heat of his presence before I heard him speak. Warm hands slid around my waist, firm but gentle, pulling me back until I was pressed against the solid wall of his chest. His cologne — that faint mix of cedar and something darker — curled through my senses, and I had to steady my breath.“What’s going on here?” he asked, his voice low and teasing, eyes flicking between me and my team.I didn’t have time to answer because, without warning, he tilted my chin up and kissed me.Not a polite peck. Not a quick brush. This was a claim. His mouth moved against mine with a slow, deliberate pressure that made my toes curl in my heels. His lips were warm, coaxing, yet demanding, tasting faintly of the wine he’d been drinking. I could feel his heartbeat, steady and unhurried, as if he had all the time in the world to kiss me like this — and he was going to use every second. When he deepened it, his hand slid up my

Haley’s POV:Logan’s presence was warm at my back before I even heard his voice.“What’s wrong?”I stiffened, forcing my expression into something neutral before turning my head slightly toward him. “It’s nothing.”He didn’t look convinced, but I wasn’t going to say a single word about Susan. Not here. Not tonight. I was done getting involved in her messy love life. Before he could press, a wave of movement caught my eye. Erin was making her way through the crowd with a few people from my department. Her face lit up when she saw me.“There you are! I’ve been looking everywhere.”Logan gave me a quick squeeze on the shoulder. “I’ll leave you with your team. Have fun.”He kissed my temple before disappearing into the crowd, probably heading toward a group of investors he’d spotted earlier.I turned to Erin and her colleagues, smiling. “Okay, I promised you all some quality time tonight. Drinks are on me. And… maybe some rewards for the amazing work you’ve been doing lately.”That instan

Haley's POV:The soft morning light slipped between the sheer curtains, casting pale gold shadows on our tangled sheets. Logan’s arm was draped lazily over my waist, and I could feel his steady breathing against the back of my neck.I didn’t want to move. His body was warm, firm, familiar. Everything I didn’t know I needed. I nestled closer, feeling his lips brush the top of my shoulder. He was awake."You're clingier than Lily this morning," he murmured, voice still thick with sleep.I smiled into the pillow. "You love it."He chuckled and pulled me tighter, burying his face in my hair. “I do.”I rolled over to face him, his messy hair and sleep-rumpled features making him look boyish. “What time is it?”He said while brushing a strand of hair from my face. “Let’s stay here. Just a little longer.”“You have meetings, CEO.”“And you&rsqu
