LOGINEthan's pov
I stepped out of the private elevator and into my corner office, slamming the heavy double doors shut behind me.
The silence of the room was oppressive, but it did nothing to quiet the chaotic storm raging in my mind.
Opening the top drawer of my desk, I bypassed the whiskey bottle and reached straight for the pill, shaking out two distinct navy-blue capsules into my palm. I didn't bother with water; I just swallowed them whole, pushing down the familiar, bitter taste that had followed me since my early twenties.
Just a precaution, I reminded myself, grimacing as I closed the drawer. The stress from the Australia expansion was already pushing my levels. I don't need a flare-up now.
I leaned against the massive glass desk, unbuttoning my collar with a harsh, impatient tug, and stared out over the sprawling city skyline.
I couldn't believe what had happened last night. After moving to Australia to avoid the torture of them being together in guise of expanding the family business, I still messed up.
I squeezed my eyes shut, my jaw clenching so tight the muscle leaped. How could I let that happen? I thought it was years ago when she had worked as my junior secretary.
I had wanted her then but she was off limits. I was her boss, I couldn't let that happen. And right under my nose, that bastard snapped her up in a cold contract marriage.
But it was years ago, what happened now? Do I still want her?
A knock came on the door and shattered my thoughts.
"Enter," I barked coldly.
The door opened, and my father’s personal assistant bowed low. "Mr. Ethan… Your father requires your immediate presence in his private study."
My stomach hardened into ice. I straightened my charcoal suit jacket, masked every trace of emotion and walked down the executive corridor.
When I pushed open the heavy oak doors of my father's study, my father was standing by the fireplace. He didn't offer a greeting. He didn't ask me to sit.
He simply picked up a thick manila folder from his desk and hurled it violently across the room. It slapped against my chest and fell to the floor, spreading glossy photographs across the polished hardwood.
I looked down.
My heart completely stopped.
There, in high-definition clarity, were pictures of me dragging a drunken Olivia inside my room last night. My hand was wrapped tightly around her waist; her face was buried in my neck.
"Look at you,"He spat, his voice dropping into a low growl that echoed off the walls. "You disgraceful, pathetic fool. You come back from Australia acting like a king, and the first thing you do is sleep with your own brother's wife?"
"Father—"
"Silence!" the old man roared, his gray eyes flashing with absolute disdain. "I brought you back to lead this empire, Ethan! I built this conglomerate on power, authority, and an immaculate reputation. And you trade it all away for a night with a barren, useless orphan?!"
"You are weak," He sneered, stepping closer and pointing a harsh, accusing finger at my chest. "You are stripped of all morals. You are completely unfit to be the overall CEO of this company. I am stripping you of the nomination. I will hand the entire Conglomerate to Kelvin by the end of the week."
My gaze met his glare.
Father—”
“You brought this up on yourself.” He growled.
A cold, suffocating rage paralyzed my chest. Everything I had worked for, everything I had sacrificed in Australia…gone. I was right, I thought bitterly, my fists clenching until my nails bit into my palms. It was a frame-up. She set me up.
Before I say anything else, the heavy double doors of the study were shoved open.
Olivia stood in the doorway.
She looked pale, disheveled, and breathless, her eyes wide with frantic, fake distress as she clutched her phone in her hand.
"Father," she rasped, her voice trembling. "Please. Kelvin released a fake video of me... I have the real proof right here—"
I stepped back into the adjoining glass office, staring at her through the partition with pure, murderous hatred burning in my veins.
This was how she did last night. Played the victim and I had fallen for it and now she's here to finish the job.
She wasn't clear but I knew that she had said something against me. I didn't hear the rest of what my father said to her. I didn't care.
She thought she could play me. She thought she could destroy my life and walk away untouched.
I watched her back out of the study in fake horror, her heels clicking against the marble floor as she retreated into the hallway.
I smoothed down my cuffs, my expression turning into terror. I was going to ruin her.
Olivia's Pov The words had barely left my mouth before a sudden spike of panic shot straight to my chest.Did I just make a massive mistake? My heart hammered against my ribs like a trapped bird. But as I forced myself to hold Ethan's gaze, I quickly talked myself down. No. It's better this way. If Ethan was going to look into me—if he was planning to dig into my life to ruin me—he would have found out about Vincent eventually. Telling him now made it look like I had nothing to hide. It eliminated the suspicion before it could even start. For a second, the cold, composed mask Ethan wore completely shattered. His eyes widened, his lips parting in genuine, unscripted shock."You... have a son?" he asked, his deep voice faltering slightly."Yes," I said, keeping my chin up and my tone completely even. "I have a son.""How?" Ethan stood up slowly from his leather chair, his massive frame towering over the desk. "You aren't married.""I was," I lied without blinking, wrapping the false s
Olivia's povMy hand froze in mid-air, the leather folder slipping an inch against my palm as his words hung heavy in the silent room.Ethan— Ethan—No. That was impossible. The sharp, uncompromising jawline, the broad shoulders, the piercing gray eyes that had haunted every single one of my nightmares for seven long years... it was Ethan."Nice to meet you, Ms. Olivia," he said smoothly, leaning forward and extending a hand across the polished mahogany desk. His voice was lower than I remembered, deeper, but the underlying danger in his tone remained unchanged.A wave of icy panic rushed through my veins, but seven years of building an empire from nothing had taught me how to wear a mask. I forced my fingers to stop trembling, swallowed the lump in my throat, and stepped forward."Nice to meet you too, Mr. Rothwell," I replied, taking his hand. His grip was firm, warm, and sent a sudden, unwelcome shock straight up my arm. I withdrew my hand as quickly as politeness allowed and took
Seven Years Later"Mommy, I don't want to stay in the hospital again," My baby's voice crackled through the phone, with a tired grumbling. "I want to go home. It smells like medicine here, and the beds are scratchy."I sank into my office chair, pressing a hand to my forehead as a sharp ache throbbed behind my eyes. "No, baby, the doctor said you have to stay for a bit. Your condition will get worse if you leave now, and Mommy needs you to get better.""But I feel fine now!" he protested softly. "I just want to play with my trains.""I know, my heart," I said, softening my voice to a soothing murmur. "Put the phone on speaker and give it to your nanny for a second, okay?"There was a heavy rustle on the other end before Elena’s warm, polite voice came through. "Ms. Olivia?”"Elena, how is he really?" I asked, dropping the light facade. "What did the doctor say when he came in for the rounds?"Elena sighed, stepping out into the quiet hallway so Vincent wouldn't hear. "The specialist s
I stared down at the two dark, bold pink lines, my knees buckling until I hit the cold bathroom tiles. The world felt like it was spinning completely out of control.Pregnant. With Ethan’s baby. The door unlocked and opened softly. Maya stepped inside, her eyes dropping to the plastic stick in my trembling hand. She gasped, kneeling next to me and wrapping her arms tightly around my shaking shoulders."Oh, Olivia..." Maya breathed, her voice cracking with pure empathy. "It's... it's Ethan's, isn't it?"I could only nod, tears silently streaming down my face.“Oh my God.” She gasped. My throat was dry as I stared at the lines, like it was going to disappear. "Olivia, listen to me," Maya said firmly, pulling back to look me straight in the eyes. "You have to tell him. Whatever happened between you two, forget it. This is his child. He's a billionaire, Olivia. He has power. He can protect you from Kelvin, and he has a right to know—""No!" I choked out, a wave of violent panic surging t
Olivia's pov I marched into the Blackwood Corporate Headquarters, my blood boiling so hot I could barely feel the ground beneath my feet."You can't go up there, ma'am!" the front desk guard called out, scrambling after me as I pressed the button for the executive elevators."Tell Kelvin Blackwood if he doesn't see me right now, I’m screaming the truth in this lobby until the police arrive!" I shouted back, tears of pure rage stinging my eyes. The guard frantically spoke into his earpiece, listened for two seconds, and let out a heavy sigh. "Floor 40. He'll see you."I rode the elevator up, my hands clenched into tight fists. The moment the doors opened on the top floor, I shoved open the heavy oak doors of Kelvin 's corner office.Kelvin was sitting behind his massive glass desk, casually sipping espresso as if he hadn't just destroyed my life."You sick, pathetic bastard!" I yelled, slamming my palms onto his desk. "An AI video? You framed me for cheating to cover up what you and E
