As soon as I stepped out of St. Jude Hospital, a sleek, jet black Maybach pulled up smoothly to the curb in front of me.

The tinted rear window rolled down, revealing a middle aged man wearing a tailor made suit and crisp white gloves. His hair was streaked with silver, and his posture exuded authority and quiet power.

It was Master Harrison, the chief butler of the prestigious Sterling Global Conglomerate, the shadowy financial giant that controlled over forty percent of the world's maritime trade and banking networks.

"Young Lady Sophia," Harrison said respectfully, stepping out of the vehicle and opening the rear door for me with a deep bow. "We have been waiting for your signal. The Old Master was deeply grieved when he heard about your third loss."

I placed my handbag into the leather interior and stepped inside, sinking into the soft, luxurious seats.

"Thank you, Harrison," I said, my voice quiet but firm. "It's time to end this farce."

"Understood, Young Lady," Harrison replied, closing the door softly before walking around to the driver's seat. "The papers for your official return to the Sterling Group have already been prepared. The Old Master said that as long as you return home, the entire Sterling family will stand behind you."

I rested my head against the cool leather headrest, staring out at the passing skyscrapers of Crestview City.

Three years ago, when my biological grandfather found me after years of searching, he begged me to take over the Sterling family's global enterprise. But back then, I was blindly, foolishly in love with Damien Vance. I wanted a simple, ordinary life. I didn't want corporate power or billionaire titles. I wanted to be a good wife to the man I loved.

So, I hid my real identity as the sole heiress of the Sterling empire. I hid my legal qualifications, my master's degrees from Oxford, and my vast personal wealth. I walked into the Vance family as a humble, middle class girl, believing that true love didn't care about money or status.

How naive I had been. In the eyes of Damien and his mother, my humility was treated as weakness, and my simplicity was treated as trash.

"Harrison," I said softly, looking at the butler through the rearview mirror. "Has Damien tried to freeze my personal bank accounts yet?"

Harrison let out a low, polite chuckle. "Yes, Young Lady. Two minutes ago, Mr. Vance's assistant issued an executive request to freeze all secondary cards associated with the Vance corporate account."

"And?"

"And the bank manager informed them that your primary card is not linked to the Vance family at all," Harrison answered, a sharp glint in his eyes. "It is an unlimited Black Centurion card backed directly by the Swiss Sterling Vaults. When Mr. Vance's assistant tried to flag it, the Swiss central bank flagged his corporate servers for unauthorized financial interference."

I let out a soft, breathy laugh. "Damien must be quite confused right now."

"Indeed, Young Lady. Where would you like to go first?"

"To the Vance Villa," I said coldly. "I have three years of my life to pack into a single suitcase."

Thirty minutes later, the Maybach pulled into the quiet, gated neighborhood where the Vance family estate was located. I had Harrison wait near the front gates while I walked up the marble steps to the grand front door.

I unlocked the door with my key and walked inside. The house was quiet. The marble floors, crystal chandeliers, and expensive oil paintings looked cold and lifeless.

I went straight up to the master bedroom on the second floor. I pulled out a single, medium sized hard suitcase from the closet. I didn't touch any of the expensive designer dresses, diamond necklaces, or luxury handbags Damien had bought for me over the years. Those were bought with Vance money, and I wanted nothing that bore his name.

Instead, I only packed the things I had brought with me three years ago: a few simple cotton dresses, my late father's old wristwatch, my legal journals, and my personal documents.

In less than twenty minutes, my single suitcase was packed and zipped shut.

As I walked down the grand staircase holding my suitcase, the front door clicked open.

Mrs. Vance, Damien's mother, walked into the foyer, holding a box of luxury baby clothes from an expensive boutique. Beside her was Clara, wearing a silk shawl over her shoulders, leaning weakly against Mrs. Vance's arm while acting as if she were a fragile porcelain doll.

When Mrs. Vance saw me standing on the stairs with a suitcase in hand, her face immediately twisted into an expression of deep disgust.

"What is the meaning of this, Sophia?" Mrs. Vance demanded sharply, setting her shopping bags onto the hall table with a loud thud. "You disappear from the hospital without helping Clara with her luggage, and now you're standing there with a suitcase? What kind of ridiculous scene are you trying to create now?"

Clara looked at me, a subtle, triumphant smirk flashing across her eyes before she quickly wiped it away, putting on a worried, innocent expression.

"Sister Sophia..." Clara whimpered softly, reaching out her hand. "Are you still angry at Damien because he was with me in the delivery room? Please don't be mad at him. It was my fault... I was so scared during labor, and I asked him to stay..."

"Quiet, Clara," Mrs. Vance snapped, patting Clara's hand gently before turning her glaring eyes back to me. "You don't need to apologize to this ungrateful woman! Sophia, let me tell you clearly: Clara has just birthed two healthy sons for the Vance family! She is the greatest hero of our household! Meanwhile, you couldn't even keep a single baby in your belly for three months!"

The words were meant to stab me straight through the heart. They were meant to reduce me to tears, just as they always had in the past.

Mrs. Vance stood there with her chin held high, waiting for me to lower my head, burst into tears, and apologize.

Instead, I walked down the remaining stairs, my heels clicking sharply against the marble floor. I stopped right in front of Mrs. Vance and Clara, looking down at them with a look of cool, unbothered indifference.

"You're right, Mrs. Vance," I said, my voice smooth and icy cold. "Clara is indeed the greatest hero of your household. That's why I'm leaving, so the two of you can live together in perfect harmony."

I pulled out my key ring, unhooked the master keys to the Vance villa, and tossed them carelessly onto the marble table beside her shopping bags.

"What... what are you doing?" Mrs. Vance stammered, taken aback by my complete lack of tears.

"I'm divorcing Damien," I replied simply. "Enjoy your house. And enjoy each other."

Without waiting for another word, I grabbed my suitcase, brushed past them, and walked out the front door into the afternoon sun.

The next morning, I woke up thinking about Alexander. I immediately frowned at myself. It had been one dinner. One. Yet somehow, his voice was the first thing that came to mind when I opened my eyes. I reached for my phone. No message. I stared at the screen for a moment before placing it back on the bedside table.Good.I didn't need another man filling my phone with endless messages. I got out of bed and started getting ready. By the time I reached the dining room, Julian was already there. He looked up from his coffee.“You're smiling.”“I am not.”“You are.”“I just woke up.”“Exactly.”I ignored him and reached for a cup.“Did you enjoy dinner?”“Yes.”“With Alexander?”I gave him a look. “Why are you so interested?”“I'm your brother.”“You're nosy.”He laughed. Before he could continue, my phone rang. Alexander. looked at the screen.Julian's smile returned. “Answer it.”“I was going to.” I walked away from the table before picking up. “Hello?”“Good morning.” His voice was cal

By six that evening, I had already changed my clothes twice. And I stood in front of the mirror in my bedroom, staring at the two dresses hanging beside me. One was black. The other was emerald green. I picked up the black dress. Then put it down. I picked up the green one. Then put that down too. I sighed. This was ridiculous. It was only dinner. At least, that was what I kept telling myself.Alexander had called earlier that afternoon. Not about Sterling Global. Not about a contract. Not about business. He had simply asked if I would have dinner with him. I had almost said no. Then I remembered how easy it had been to talk to him at lunch. He never asked questions about Damien. He never reminded me of the marriage I had just left. He didn't treat me like something fragile. So I agreed.I finally chose a simple black dress and left my hair loose around my shoulders. When I walked downstairs, Julian was waiting in the living room. His eyes moved over me.“Dinner?”“Yes.”“With Alexand

By eight the next morning, I was sitting at the head of the Sterling Global boardroom table. For three years, I had sat at the Vance dining table while Mrs. Vance decided whether I was worthy of eating with her family.I placed my folder on the table. “Good morning.”Everyone stood. “Good morning, Chairwoman Sterling.” Julian sat to my right. Marcus had joined us as legal counsel, while the rest of the executives watched me carefully. For years, Sterling Global had been run by people who had known my grandfather, then Julian. Now the youngest person in the room was me. I opened the first report. I kept reading.“Let's start with the shipping division.”The Chief Financial Officer slid a document toward me. “Revenue increased by fourteen percent in the last quarter, but operating costs have also risen.”“Why?”Nobody spoke. He explained the increase. Then I pointed to one figure. “This supplier.”“Yes.”“Why has the company paid them nearly twice the previous contract rate?”“We've ha

I turned the photograph over again. The handwriting was unmistakably my grandfather's.“He knows where your father is.”For several seconds, nobody spoke. I looked at Harrison's younger face in the photograph, then at my father's. I had spent years believing my father was simply another painful part of my family's past. Now I was beginning to wonder if I had ever been told the truth about him."Where was this taken?" I asked.Julian took the photograph from my hand. "Westbridge.""And when?"He checked the date written in the corner. "Twenty-four years ago."I looked at my father again. He looked younger than I remembered. Not the version of him I had carried in my memories, but the man from before everything went wrong."Why was he with Grandfather?""I don't know.""You don't know?""I was away at university then."I turned to Marcus. "Can you find out?"He nodded. "Give me the photograph."I handed it to him.He examined it carefully before taking a picture of the back. "I'll have

"Who?"The word left my mouth before I could stop it.Julian didn't answer. He looked at the document in my hand, then at the phone on the desk. Marcus was studying him too."Julian," I said. "Who has the evidence?"He rubbed a hand over his jaw."I don't know if we should…""You should." My voice was steady. "You have spent years deciding what I should know and what I shouldn't. That ends today."Julian held my gaze for a moment. Then he said, "Harrison."I went still. An uneasiness settled over me, because Harrison had never once given me a reason to doubt him. "Chief Butler Harrison?"Julian nodded."But why would Grandfather leave it with him?""Because Harrison was one of the few people he trusted completely.""You knew he had something?""I suspected.""Suspected?"Julian exhaled."Your grandfather told Harrison to protect certain documents if anything happened to him. But after Grandfather died, Harrison refused to tell me where they were.""Why?""Because your grandfather gav

The message changed everything.“Now ask Julian why your grandfather was afraid of the Vance family.” I read it twice before lowering my phone.Julian noticed my expression. “What happened?”I handed him the phone. He read the message. His face changed immediately.I looked directly at him. "You knew," I said.Julian looked away."You knew there was something between Grandfather and the Vance family.""It wasn't that simple.""Then make it simple."My voice was calm, but I could feel anger building inside me. "For years, I believed my family collapsed because of business problems. I believed you and Grandfather did everything you could to protect me. I believed my marriage to Damien was completely separate from all of that."I stepped closer."But now I find out that Grandfather owned Westbridge, that he left instructions for me, and that he specifically mentioned people who knew what happened."Julian said nothing."And now someone is telling me to ask you about the Vance family."M
