JANE'S POV

It was said that the best news always came with the light of day.

I've experienced that firsthand.

The sun shone bright and hot casting a golden yellow over my skin as I strolled out of the hospital with a bright smile spreading across my lips. The brown envelope in my hand wavered with each step I took. My shoes clicked heavily against the tiles as I proceeded through the main door of the hospital heading towards my car.

Jason had always wanted to be a father and maybe this child would make him love me again. I hurried into my car, cracking my fingers as I held the steering tight ready to start the car. 

The car engine hummed as I zoomed off heading home to share the good news. My car pulled up in the front yard after about twenty minutes. As I climbed through the front porch of our magnificent mansion, the doctor's words flooded my mind. 

“Jane, you are having a baby” my heart suddenly began to pound in joy and anticipation. Jason was going to love this, his parents too would love this, i thought. 

In no time I pulled up in front of the mansion I share with her husband. The home we've built together. My heart leapt with joy as I hopped out of the car running to the porch.

“Jason!” I called out pushing the front door open. Hurrying through the lobby and up the stairs, I could smell his presence in the house and I could tell he was in our bedroom. I kicked her heels off my feet and headed to the master bedroom. All the while the bright smile which I'd had on my face since I left the hospital hadn't faltered. 

I inhaled and exhaled heavily as I held the bedroom door knob and pushed it open.

But nothing could've prepared me for the scene that greeted me. My heart stopped as soon as I crossed the threshold. 

There they were, naked.

My husband!

My best friend!

Tina, my closest friend, had her legs spread wide open, her eyes rolled up in ecstasy while Jason's waist did all the grinding and thrusting. The slurpy sounds of flesh hitting against flesh filled the room like a sound track from a horror movie. 

But this wasn't a movie. This was real life, my life flashing before me; a nightmare I couldn't unsee no matter what.

“Oh! Jason, don't stop”. Tina moaned his name, her voice sultry and erratic.

“Fuck, I love you, you taste good, better than that cheap thing Jane”, Jason moaned the words out loud—words he hadn't said to me once in our three years of marriage—squeezing her boobs with one hand while his hard manhood drove deeper and deeper into her violently. 

At that point, I just couldn't take it anymore  

“Jason! Tina!” I managed to scream their names

Sharply, he stopped the moment he heard my voice. His body was covered with sweat and the room had the thick smell of sweat and body fluids. 

“Jane, I thought you weren't coming home until later tonight” Jason's voice didn't quiver as he spoke. His eyes were unrepentant.He carefully rolled off the bed naked with his cock still standing erect covered in slimy female fluids. He grabbed it with both hands and hurriedly covered himself with the white robe he picked up by the side. I stood watching the scene with my mouth agape, I just couldn't help but feel the bile rising in her stomach.

Tina was still lying in bed, rolling her eyes at me and just like Jason, unfliched by my presence as though I was just an inconvenience sent to disrupt their blissful moment. She didn't even bother to cover herself. 

My feet glued to the floor, numb and heavy waiting for him to give me some explanation at least but he didn't. And do I really need one? I doubt that.What explanation could he give that would explain the horror I'd just witnessed?

Turning to Tina with a finger pointing directly at her “Tina… I thought you were my friend” my lips quivering as she spoke.

Tina rolled her large eyes “Oh come off it Jane! You can't have this handsome man all to yourself while you barely satisfy him. It’s not my fault he needed a real woman.” She said, grabbing her things as she finally got dressed yet didn't leave, she stood beside Jason and leaned forward to kiss him. At this point I felt like scratching both of them would be a good revenge for me.

“Jane look, I am not even sorry for this, you clearly interrupted our lovely and you need to apologise to Tina right now” he barked the words at me. His eyes were cold and distant. Jason was tall around 6 '2 with broad shoulders and a clean soft skin, his large green eyes resting in their sockets and sending sharp piercing hateful stares to me. 

My mouth opened in disbelief" Is that all you have to say?"

"Yes, Jane, what would you have me do,huh?! Well I hear you have a new man now so go be with him", He spat the words in my face. His deep blue eyes pierced through my soul like a dagger dipped in hot coal, every word spat at me stung like venom. His broad shoulders stiffened, his jaw clenched as he stood with authority, annoyingly unremorseful and unapologetic about his misconduct. I hate him.

“What are you talking about Jason? Are you trying to flip blames on me?” I was shocked at his unremorseful tone.

Tina rolled her eyes, interrupting my words rudely"Jane, come on, stop pretending, we've got evidence, enough of it", Tina threw a brown envelope at me and it fell on the floor. My eyes widened as she bent over to pick up the photos. Photos of me and a man holding hands, another one of me kissing the same man in a hotel room. 

Confusion struck me in the head instantly, the image in my hands stared right back at me "What's going on Jason, this isn't me and you know it. She's lying", I tried to redeem myself hoping maybe he would believe me, but my guess was wrong.

"Oh really? So how do you explain the evidence in your hand, bitch!" He bawled the words with hate.

"I swear to God these photos are doctored. She made them up and you believe her over your wife?", my hands trembled, her voice quivered and her throat ran dry of saliva. Disbelief washed over me as I stood at the brink of crying myself to a river.

I've always known, deep down. It had been clear. The lip stains, the women's lingerie, the perfume scents. These nights, Jason had always been a chronic cheater. And he knows this because he is handsome, tall, wealthy and rich. Jason is the type of man every woman would want to have a taste of, I mean his sex game was good. I can forgive his other hidden escapades but cheating on me with my best friend and on our matrimonial bed— framing me so he could get away with his shit is something I just can't condone. 

I shut her eyes, holding myself back from doing something I might regret and just then I heard his croaky voice.

“Jane I can never be with a cheating wife plus you aren't the woman for me. You could never be. I already told you this,” he ran a hand through his hair as he said the words without remorse. 

“And you chose my friend? Of all the women you have on your list?” I barked at him. At this point Tina got her things dressed up and planted a kiss on Jason's head before swaying her stiff waist out of the house.

“I will see you later baby, clean this mess up”

“I will be my love”, He kissed her on her cheek, she smacked her lip and ran her eyes through me from head to toe before saying.

“Our child will be just as handsome as his father”, she squeezed her stomach gently and walked off.

I knew Jasosn would have wanted me to cry and plead and beg but No. I sulked in everything, because I am not giving Jane the satisfaction of seeing me cry again. I refused to shed another tear in his name. I'd wasted enough in three years.

“You two are having a child? How long has all this been going on?”, I demanded but as the rude nonchalant man he is he shrugged and replied. “Does that even matter now?Look Jane, I’m the man and I can do whatever the fuck I want. Besides, Tina has accomplished in a few months what you haven't been able to do in three years. She is already carrying my son. I'm going to be a father. No thanks to you.” He scoffed as he said this, then went on to rummage his closet for his shirt and pants.

"Jason we can fix this—", I hadn't finished before he shut me up.

"This isn't working Jane can't you see—and I can't deal with your cheating ass", 

Defeated by his words, I walked to the bed and sat at the edge of it.

“Okay! Fine!” I mouthed quietly but firmly with a curt nod. 

Three years are all gone. Wasted!

Three years of marriage and the only day I had felt really good and like he actually had any feelings for me was the previous month when he'd come home drunk. He professed all the love in the world to me—although thinking about it now, I realised he'd probably thought I was someone else, Tina maybe. And then, we made love. The sweetest love making I have ever experienced, even though he was the only man I've been with.And what was her reward? She sat there, carrying the child of a man who couldn't care less about her. Jason jumped into his pants and buttoned his shirt quickly. His mind was completely aloof and unconcerned with my emotional state.

“I can't have you ruining things for me all the time. Enough is enough, you filthy bag of shame!” He spit the words and snatched the car keys from the night stand.

“No Jason, I won't have you speak to me in that tone”, i wasn't done talking before he smacked me over the face with the back of his hand. I fell, hitting my back against the wall before crashing to the ground. He grabbed me by the dress then by my hair.

“Jason please, I am innocent!” I begged, tears burst out from my eyes, I couldn't hold it any more.

“No you need to leave and you must do that now”, He pulled me by the neck of my dress and by my hair, dragging me on the floor, I janked, kicked the air as my body trailed a single line on the floor till we reached rhe porch. He pushed me off aggressively, I fell on the ground hitting my stomach heavily on the slabs. 

“Jason please—”, snot trailed down my nostrils.

“I don't want to see you here when I get back”, He warned with burning eyes before jumping into his car. He drove off without another word.

I only watched him leave, my brain unable to make my mouth move. It was clear he never really loved me. But I’d held on to false hope. Lied to myself all those years. My hands rose to her stomach with one hand.

“I can't take this anymore. I am sorry baby, this isn't working anymore.” I wept bitterly, squeezing my belly and suddenly I began to feel something wet in between my legs. I raised the helm of my dress and beheld blood trailing down my thighs. 

No!!! I screamed at the top of my voice, I managed to search for my phone to text Tenaya and just then a message popped up, my phone screen lit up. I swiped a finger on the screen still in pain but then the message I received from Jason hurt me even more.

“Meet me at the attorneys office.This marriage is officially over. 2pm tomorrow don't be late!”
