I was in a relationship with Luke Johnson for seven years. When we were finally about to get married, my younger sister, Nessa Reid, made a mistake at her teaching job. Her mistake left one of her students paralyzed. My parents bribed a lawyer to tricked me into signing a confession statement on behalf of Nessa and ended up in prison. In prison, I was bullied by the other inmates. Two of my ribs were broken, and one of my eyes was blinded. I endured five brutal years there. After I was released, Luke brought me back to the mansion and proposed to me in front of everyone. He promised to give me a grand wedding. However, a day before my wedding day, Nessa drove too fast and killed someone. The victim came from a very powerful family. Chapter 1

The night breeze was extremely chilly on the windy mountain road.

Standing right in front of me was the head of the Scott family, Camden Scott. He was famous for being vicious and cruel. He leaned against a black Maybach, and the cigarette in his hand briefly glowed.

Luke Johnson and my parents had abandoned me at this very spot just a few minutes ago. They had simply shoved me in front of Camden before turning around and leaving without sparing me a single glance.

As they passed through the dim car lights, Nessa Reid poked her head out from Luke's embrace with an eerie yet smug smile.

I felt as though I was falling into an abyss. The blood in my veins froze.

She had done it all on purpose.

I stared intently as they left before Camden's cold voice startled me.

"Well? Do you already miss them?"

I turned around abruptly as Camden walked over to me and grabbed my chin fiercely with his gloved fingers. He forced me to look up at him.

"You're Violet, right? I heard you like to drive fast?" Camden's eyes were vicious. "My younger brother was only 19 years old. His life hadn't even started, yet you ran over him and reduced him to a mangled mess."

I clenched my teeth and used my only functioning right eye to look at him. My voice was trembling as I said, "It wasn't me… I didn't run over anyone! I was forced to be here to be their scapegoat!"

Camden sneered, as though he had heard a huge joke. "A scapegoat? Your parents and boyfriend of seven years would do that to you? Violet, if you want to lie, come up with something I can believe.

"Since you like cars so much, I should let you experience how it feels to get run over by one.

"According to the Scott family's rules, you have to pay a life with a life. You better pray you're strong enough to survive this ‘accident'."

I had thought that I would end up in prison again. I had not expected that Camden was not going to abide by the law.

A bunch of strong bodyguards forced me into a crappy car. They buckled the seatbelt tightly against my body.

Camden retreated to a safe distance before coldly waving at his subordinates.

From afar, a dump truck turned on its headlights. Then, I heard a loud roar of the engine before it sped directly towards the car I was in.

The loud bang pierced through the silent night.

The front of the car had completely caved in. The heavy engine was pressing against my legs.

I screamed in pain. I could clearly hear both of my legs breaking.

The huge airbag popped out and broke a few of my ribs. The broken bones pierced through my organs, and I could immediately feel blood bubbling up my throat.

My entire body was seizing in pain as I threw up mouthfuls of blood. Cold sweat covered my entire body.

Just as I was about to lose consciousness, I heard Camden's cold voice say, "Take her out of the car and toss her on the street outside of the Johnson family mansion.

"Let her succumb like a stray dog."

I could feel the cold rain prickling against my skin like needles. I was kicked out of the car by the Scott family as if I were a bag of trash. I rolled down the street and landed before the mansion of the Johnson family. Rain mixed with my blood and tainted the road beneath me a bright red.
