"Hurry up, babe. If we’re late, the hospital’s going to be packed."

Aiden Carter’s urging pulled me sharply back to reality.

My hand instinctively pressed against the slight swell of my belly, and that’s when I knew. I had been reborn.

I was reborn on the very day we were supposed to pick up my prenatal test results.

In my last life…

From the moment I got pregnant, Aiden had been meticulous about caring for me. Every day, he bought something new for the baby, and he’d already picked out over a hundred possible names.

Even though the hospital where I had my prenatal checkups was his own workplace, he always took leave just to accompany me. He never hid his excitement or love for this child.

Four months in, we went for the routine check as usual.

When the attending doctor, Dr. Marianne Cole, assured us that the baby was perfectly healthy, with no signs of Down syndrome, Aiden, who was an OB-GYN himself, glanced over the report.

That’s when his smile froze on his face, twisting into horror. Without a word, he grabbed my hand and tried to schedule an abortion.

I stood there stunned, tearing my hand free. "Aiden, the baby’s fine. Why do you want to get rid of it?"

However, he didn’t answer. His fingers flew over his phone, already booking the procedure.

I reached to snatch it away.

His breathing grew ragged, and his eyes were bloodshot as he roared, "Clara, there is no way we are having this child!"

His outburst rattled me so badly my heart nearly tore out of my chest, and my legs threatened to buckle beneath me.

While he was distracted setting up the surgery, I quickly messaged my parents, who happened to both be OB-GYNs as well.

They came swiftly.

When Aiden saw them, he didn’t look nervous at all. In fact, a faint smile tugged at his lips.

I shrank into my mother’s arms. Dad swung a fist and smashed it into Aiden’s face. "The baby’s perfectly fine. Why the hell are you pushing for an abortion?"

Aiden stayed silent, shoving the test results into Dad’s hands.

The moment Dad’s eyes scanned the report, his rage curdled into shock. His eyes widened. His hands shook. Then, he lifted his fist, aiming for my stomach.

Thank God Mom stepped in.

His punch landed squarely against her instead. She shouted furiously, "Have you lost your mind? Clara’s carrying your grandchild!"

Dad sneered, thrusting the report at her.

After a single glance, my mother, who had just shielded me, went pale as if she’d seen a ghost. She shoved me away from her chest, shaking her head violently. "No… no, this won’t work."

That’s when I realized something was wrong with the results.

"Mom, what’s happening? What’s wrong with my baby?" I demanded.

However, she didn’t answer, trapped in her own terror. "This won’t do!" She clutched Dad’s arm. "It’s too obvious here at the hospital. I have another solution."

Her voice dropped. "Find a few men. Lock Clara in with them."

I froze, going numb all over.

Why had they both changed the instant they saw the report? What could possibly be so terrifying? And why wouldn’t anyone tell me?

They started to drag me away.

I spun to run, but Dad caught me easily, yanking me back. I sobbed, begging them to let me go, or at least, give me the truth.

Nonetheless, they forced me into the car, gagged me, and shoved me inside.

Then, they locked me in a basement cell with five men. Terror nearly crushed me. I pounded on the door, screaming to be let out.

Only silence answered me.

The men dragged me down to the ground. Whenever I resisted, they struck me. Soon, the child inside me spilled out in a pool of blood, eventually drying on the floor.

A week later, my parents and Aiden came to collect me.

Mom smiled sweetly. "Clara, let’s go home."

I laughed bitterly, not understanding how she could pretend nothing had happened. My voice cracked into madness. "Why? Why would you do this to me?!"

Her face turned cold.

Dad’s hand whipped across my face. "Ungrateful and shameless!"

I stood there, dazed.

Then, Mom’s eyes hardened, venom dripping from her words. "Clara’s lost her mind. Send her to Ravenwood Asylum."

From the moment they locked me inside, Aiden made sure someone came every day to torture me. The man I once loved more than anything wanted me dead.

Three months later, I finally broke. I died without ever knowing why that prenatal report had condemned both me and my baby.

The terror of that past life surged back. My hand brushed against the faint heat of my belly.

I drew in a long breath. This time, I would find out the truth.

No matter what.

Mom didn’t give me a chance to speak. Her hand cracked across my face. "How dare you air something so shameful online?! You promised us you’d have the abortion and leave. Is this how you repay us for raising you?"I laughed coldly. "That’s right. But I never imagined you’d hire five men to violate me! Again and again, you treat me like I’m not even human. This was never my fault!"My roar only earned me another round of slaps from both of them.Dad sneered. "Look at how people talk about you online, and you still think you’re blameless?"I clenched my jaw, fixing them with a hard stare. "But you know better than anyone what really happened that night. I was the clueless one."Because of what happened, my brother, Ryan Hart, cut ties with you and ran away. Although you were heartbroken, you didn’t want to lose me after losing your son. So you told me nothing happened."I was drugged. My memories were hazy. I actually believed you that maybe nothing happened, but you didn’t expect

At first, the men tried to tie her up along with me.However, when they noticed the crowd gathering behind her, they panicked and bolted. The stranger slipped a coat over me and carefully led me to a hotel. After I showered, she finally revealed her identity. She was a journalist named Hannah Orwell. Like all the others, she knew I carried a headline-worthy scandal. She wanted to hear my story. However, she said that if I didn’t want to talk, that was fine too.I asked her, "Why did you save me from those men? Aren’t you afraid I really am the kind of monster everyone says I am?"Her face betrayed no expression. For a moment, she hesitated, then answered, "No matter what you’ve done—even if you broke the law—there are legal ways to punish you. What they tried to do was wrong. You shouldn’t have to suffer that kind of violence."She continued, "Your ex-husband already signed the divorce papers. Your parents have gone back to their normal lives, but you’re the only one still haunt

The moment Nathan’s eyes landed on the report, his brows furrowed. Before he could say anything, Mom leaned close and whispered something in his ear. Instantly, his face darkened. When he looked back at me, his eyes were cold and filled with disgust.I had expected that reaction, yet my chest still tightened with pain. His response only confirmed it—I truly was nothing more than a wretched stain. After hearing Mom’s words, Nathan recoiled from me as if I carried a plague.Turning to the other media and bystanders, he raised his voice. "This is a family matter. We shouldn’t interfere. Her parents and husband are all OB-GYNs. Three doctors wouldn’t misdiagnose the fetus together. And if there really were an issue, the police would’ve resolved it at the station already. We’re talking about an unborn child here. Don’t stir up gossip or feed on someone’s tragedy."With that, he waved for his team to leave. His parting glance at me was laced with pure loathing.Others looked unsettled

"It’s alright. No matter what happens, we’ll stand up for you. Did you see anything unusual in that report?"A bitter smile tugged at my lips. I shook my head. Then, I met my mother’s eyes. The hatred there was unmistakable. She sneered, "I should’ve known that you’re nothing but an ungrateful whore. Imagine calling the cops on your own parents.""Another word like that, and we’ll detain you," Officer Rivers warned sharply.Mom shut her mouth, but the loathing in her eyes didn’t lessen one bit.A blur of trauma crashed over me again. My whole body felt sick. I bit down hard on my lip and forced myself to look at the police."I’m sorry. I wasn’t thinking clearly before. There is… something wrong w

Without any exchange of words, they knew something had happened.Mom rushed to shield me in her arms, but the instant she touched me, I flinched.Kind Samaritans quickly explained what had just taken place.Dad lifted his hand, ready to slap Aiden across the face. But before he could, Aiden raised the prenatal report high."Dad, don’t look!" I cried, lunging to grab it.It was too late.He caught it first, his eyes flicking over the page. A tremor rippled through him.I whispered tentatively, "Dad…"When his gaze snapped back to me, his eyes were bloodshot. His raised hand swung down, not at Aiden, but across my cheek."Wretch! Aiden told you to abort it for your own good!"I shattered inside. Still, I gritted my teeth, forcing out, "But the doctor said the baby is healthy!""I’m an OB-GYN too! How dare you argue with me!" • My Family Wants Me Dead   Chapter 2

At the hospital, I made sure to grab the prenatal report first.Even after Dr. Cole reassured me that the baby was perfectly healthy, I immediately tucked the report into my hands.I thought that as long as Aiden didn’t see it, nothing bad could happen. However, the moment we stepped out of the doctor’s office, he asked me for it, just like in my last life.My heart lurched, but I forced a smile. "Why do you need my report?"Aiden smiled back. "I’m the baby’s father, and I’m an OB-GYN. Isn’t it normal for me to take a look?""Dr. Cole already said both the baby and I are healthy. Don’t you believe her?" I challenged."It’s not that. I just want to understand the details so that I can take better care of you."I deliberately slipped the report into my bag right in front of him. "Well, I’m not letting you see it today."He assumed I was just being pouty, so he played along. "Alright, alright. I won’t look. Your health is all that matters."I clung to his arm with a smile. "I’m j
