The carriage wheels rolled softly against the dirt road, the rhythmic sound filling the silence between me and my father. I sat still, fingers twisting the edge of my gown, my heart drumming far too loudly in my chest.

After a while, I found my voice. “Father,” I said quietly, glancing out the small window, “is… Lord Dylen coming with us?”

He looked up from his thoughts and smiled faintly. “Of course. He’s one of Alpha Aldric’s closest allies. It would be improper if he didn’t attend.”

I nodded, though the answer didn’t soothe me, it only made my pulse quicken. The idea of being near both of them… Aldric and Dylen, made the air feel heavier.

My father must’ve noticed, because he reached over and gently patted my hand. “Evelyn, you’ll be fine,” he said, voice calm and assuring. “Aldric is recovering, not holding court. You’re only there to wish him well, not to impress anyone.”

“I know,” I whispered, “but still…”

He chuckled softly. “You worry too much. Just breathe.”

I tried, but my t

The words hung in the air like a curse. For a long moment, I said nothing. The night wind howled across the cliffs, carrying the taste of magic and betrayal. My gaze fixed on the barrier, its light reflecting in my golden eyes, then I chuckled. “She truly thinks she can chain me,” I said at last, my tone quiet, almost dangerous. “I wonder what she's thinking now, that I will come and beg?.” I scoffed.“Preposterous,” Kaelith growled.Rhydian growled low. “The goddess has gone too far this time. She’s afraid of what you are, my Lord.”Kaela’s jaw tightened. “She’s not afraid,” she said bitterly. “She’s spiteful. The Lycan blood reminds her of her failure, the beings she created but couldn’t control.”I tilted my head slightly, studying the threads of power weaving through the barrier. It shimmered with divine essence…the kind that burned at my touch. Kaelith stirred deep within me, he was restless, and he snarled against the magic pressing down on us.“She’s severed my connection,” I murmu

Dylen’s POVThe barrier shimmered before me,a thin veil of light stretched across the valley, pulsing with strange energy. It was supposed to be steady, calm, but now it felt alive, unstable… and hostile.I narrowed my eyes, my senses spreading like shadow tendrils through the space between realms. Something was wrong. The pulse wasn’t natural,it carried the taste of divinity. Of her…The Moon Goddess. Of course it did,she created it. But something felt off.“She's watching…” Kaelith whispered. My jaw clenched. Of course she was watching, she always does. I guess she's watching to know if I would back down. Then a movement caught my eye. Shapes… faint, blurred… crossing through the barrier. I took a step forward, the night stilling around me. It was them.A group of wolves. Among them, an older male, broad shoulders, hair streaked with gray. Hold a second, that's Evelyn's father and in his arms, was a girl. Her head rested against his chest, her hair catching the pale glow of moonlight.

The willow swayed gently above me, its silver-green tendrils brushing the grass like fingertips stroking a harp. I sat beneath it, before a wide mirror that reflected me and the soft veil of mist curling through the air. The stillness around me was almost scary. There was no wind, no sound, just the faint murmur of my own breathing. Then… a sensation.A faint warmth trailed through my hair, like fingers parting each strand.I froze. My reflection didn’t move, she just sat there, perfectly calm, while I felt it.A hand. It felt real and warm.Sliding slowly down my hair to my shoulder. For some reason,I couldn't look back.My heart stuttered. “Who’s there?” I whispered, my voice swallowed by the mist. No one answered. Yet through the mirror, I could feel his presence behind me,it was close enough that his breath grazed the shell of my ear. Then his voice came, low and deep.“Avelynne…”My pulse jumped. No one had called me that name, not even Sylvara.“You look so gorgeous…”The words w

A burst of white light swept through the courtyard, flooding every corner with divine brilliance. The force of it knocked the breath from my lungs, and for a moment, all I could do was shield my eyes. When I finally dared to look up, the world had shifted, the heaviness that had pressed upon us moments ago was gone. The Alphas, who moments before had been crushed beneath Dylen’s aura, gasped in unison, their bodies trembling as the divine energy cleansed the space. The Moon Goddess’s magic had washed over the courtyard. What a relief.Every Alpha dropped to their knees. Heads bowed low. No one dared to look at her directly.“Blessed be the Moon,” they whispered in unison.I followed their lead, lowering my head as my heart raced. I could feel her power which felt smooth and infinite. It was as though the stars themselves had descended to stand upon our earth. Her presence was gentle, yet heavy enough to make Sylvara whimper softly inside me.Footsteps echoed softly, the ground responde

Everything happened too fast for my mind to keep up.Raya, the one beside him changed too. The faint golden light that had touched her body pulsed once more, and her aura thickened like a storm cloud. The air warped around her, her eyes glowing faintly crimson. Every Alpha around the courtyard dropped their heads lower, trembling as her presence clawed at their strength. She wasn’t the calm and kind Raya I had seen earlier, this one looked lethal. A being carved for war.And still, none of them could raise their heads. The Alphas were on their knees. Their wolves whimpered. Even the strongest of them dared not breathe too loudly. I stayed frozen where I knelt, my heartbeat pounding so loud I could feel it in my throat. Then he moved. The man — no, the creature — began to walk toward me slowly, his steps were unhurried. Each step carried weight, each movement deliberate, echoing against the quiet like thunder. The courtyard floor cracked slightly beneath his feet. And even though his

The moment the words left the guard’s mouth, my father didn’t hesitate. He turned sharply, striding toward the door. I followed without thinking.“Father!” I called, nearly tripping on the steps.“Stay close, Evelyn,” he ordered, his tone grave. As I walked to the courtyard my heart thundered painfully in my chest. What’s happening? I whispered inwardly.Sylvara’s soft purr rippled through me. “Something familiar…”“Familiar?” I frowned, trying to catch my breath. “At a time like this, you’re purring?”“You’ll understand soon enough,”she said cryptically, her tone both teasing and… emotional. She sounded less worried.I didn’t have time to argue. The courtyard opened before us, a scene of chaos and confusion. Guards lined the sides, whispering among themselves, while a few Alphas stood frozen in disbelief. And there, lying on the cold marble ground…was Lord Dylen.“Dylen…” The name escaped me before I could stop it.I ran to him, my feet barely touching the ground. My father called af
