The storm had finally relented, leaving behind a world washed clean. Puddles mirrored the bruised evening sky, and the air carried that sharp, invigorating scent of wet pavement and distant pine. Droplets still clung to the library’s stone steps, catching the first glow of streetlamps as they flickered on. I swung my legs off the chair where I’d been perched, landing softly on the damp ground. My skirt brushed against my thighs, cool from stray rain, and I smoothed it down with nervous fingers.

I looked up at Evander, my heart still unsteady from the charged moments we’d shared inside. The memory of his arms caging me against the table, his low voice murmuring my name, lingered like a phantom touch. I tried to steady my breathing.

“I—I should get home before it gets too dark,” I said, aiming for casual, but the words came out hesitant, almost reluctant.

He set me gently on the edge of the table, the worn wood cool beneath my thighs. My legs dangled, swinging slightly, and I shifted to find balance. The single lamp on the nearby shelf cast a warm, golden pool around us, softening the sharp edges of the library but doing nothing to dull the sharper edges of his presence. Light glanced off the lenses of his glasses, hiding his eyes for a moment before revealing them again and they were dark, watchful and impossible to read.“Am I… heavy?” I asked, the question small and cautious, barely louder than the rain still tapping against the windows. His chuckle was low, resonant, rolling through the quiet space and straight into my chest. “Not even close,” he murmured, the words laced with something that made my skin prickle. He didn’t move away. Instead, he planted his hands on either side of my hips, caging me in without touching, his arms forming quiet barriers I suddenly didn’t want to escape. The faint scent of his cologne that smelled ced

I felt his arms tighten around me slightly, and I couldn’t help but glance around, taking in the dimly lit hallway, the flicker of lightning outside, and the shadows dancing along the walls.“Hey,” he said, his voice low and teasing, and I felt him shift me slightly against him. “Eyes wandering, huh? That’s not nice.”I blinked, caught off guard, but he didn’t loosen his hold. “I… I just…”“No,” he interrupted, his tone firm but laced with amusement. “If you want to be carried, your gaze needs to be on me. Only me.”My heart skipped a beat. I tried to focus, and I did… eventually. My eyes locked with his, and the intensity of his stare made my pulse race. I felt my cheeks heat up, my lips parting slightly, my stomach twisting in a mix of nervousness and excitement.“So,” I whispered softly, daring to ask, “why are you so cold around everyone else, but… suddenly soften around me?” Damn it! I was terrible at changing the topic. He went quiet as if weighing his words carefully, or tryin

I felt his weight shift slightly as he pressed me closer, his teasing tone making my cheeks heat up even more.“You know,” he said, the corners of his lips twitching, “you could’ve just said you wanted me to carry you.”I blinked at him, startled. “I—I didn’t want that!” I protested, my voice wavering despite my confidence. He raised an eyebrow, that smirk never leaving his face. “Oh? Really?” His voice was low, teasing, dangerous even, and I could feel it rattle something deep inside me.Before I could say anything else, I felt the movement,I was being lowered. His hands shifted slightly, and I realized he was putting me down. Relief should have surged through me, but instead, panic bubbled up.“Wait, don’t drop me!” I gasped, my voice pitching higher than I intended. His smirk widened, amusement sparkling in his eyes. “Oh, now you beg? That’s… adorable.” He tilted his head, like he was analyzing me, and added softly, “I’d love it if you begged.”I flushed, my heart pounding, and my f

The darkness was absolute, broken only by jagged flashes of lightning that lit his face in sharp, fleeting bursts. My head was still pressed to his chest, hearing his heartbeat. Then came his low chuckle.“There’s no more thunder sweetheart?” he murmured, voice velvet-rough against my ear. “Or are you enjoying the cuddle a little too much?"My breath caught in my throat. Another flash of lightning revealed the wicked curve of his mouth, the knowing glint in his eyes as he dipped his head closer. “Because if you wanted to be this close, all you had to do was ask.”The words unraveled me. Heat flooded my cheeks,my heart slammed against my ribs. I couldn’t think, couldn’t breathe with him holding me like that, teasing me like he already knew every weak spot I’d tried to hide. With a shaky inhale, I pulled away from him. His hands fell away slowly, reluctantly, fingers brushing my sides one last lingering second, I stepped back.“S–sorry Mr Evander,” I managed to mumble. I tried to steady

EVELYN’S POVI had no idea that Mr Evander had not left the classroom. I turned around to see him still staring at me. My heart thumped way too loud for the quiet room, and I prayed he couldn’t hear it. I couldn't dare speak. I bit my lip again, fuck! Hope I didn't speak out loud.He chuckled. A soft, deep sound that rolled through him as he had just read my mind and found it amusing. He shifted his weight slightly, squeezing his hands into his pockets… relaxed, calm, completely unbothered while little Miss Me stood there, practically melting.“You know,” he said casually, gaze never leaving mine, “you look incredibly sexy when you bite your lip.”I froze. Every thought disintegrated. My lips? Sexy?My entire brain had disconnected from my body at that point because I couldn’t even process normal things like breathing or blinking, and before I could even think of a reply, he stepped closer. Not too close. Just enough to make it impossible to think straight.“Can you…” His voice droppe
