Colt shoved me into the cell and jammed it shut before me. My lips trembled with pleas as I gripped the cold rusted rod watching him work the locks. “You little slut!” He sneered and turned the key, “You have one good thing, and like always you ruined it. You are fucking useless and a slut!” He walked out and I ran a hand through my hair in disbelief. I shook my head and shut my eyes. Just one night that I decided to be reckless, this happened. Why did it always have to be me? Casteel fucked my stepmummy over and over again and they weren’t caught, when I did, it suddenly became a problem. I clutched my head in my hand as I crumpled on the cold hard ground—just my sour luck for being reckless and sleeping there. I wished I regretted what I did, but I did not. Not the tiniest bit. Casteel deserved it; no, he deserved more than that. It wasn’t as if he was the perfect mate and a saint, he wasn’t. I wondered if my father knew his precious wife was getting fucked by a man younger than him. Maybe I should tell him, see how he would like it. I hugged my legs as I tried to shake off the sheer look of disappointment on my father’s face. Could I do that to him? Most importantly, who would believe me? I’ve once again disappointed him, not that it was a surprise, but it was the way I kept the streak. The room was dark; it was hard to tell the time in here. I only knew it was late when my stomach growled. “You can’t fail like this. You are the alpha princess. Be strong,” I told myself as the hunger tripled. Hunger wasn’t the only thing, I was thirsty as well, dying of thirst, plus the hangover from the intake of alcohol. It also wasn’t a good thing that I drank, and of all things, whisky that contained 40% alcohol. What the hell was I thinking? I closed my eyes and I tentatively remembered how the Alpha had fucked me, lost himself in it, and even poured the drink on me and now he couldn’t remember me? Why did I have such bad luck with men? My father, brother, mate and hook up too. I was in the shorts they found me in, so when they threw me into the cell, it was in the same shirt. The cell became cold, causing me to shiver and wrap my arms around my body. I folded in two as if that would make the cold stop. Suddenly I heard the lock of my cell rattle and then I saw the last person who could single-handedly make this worse, the one who cursed all this. “Casteel!” I spat the name not in the way I intended. The cold and hunger made my usual careful demeanor bleed and now I was snappy. He stood inside my cell watching with judging eyes as if he were better. “Why? Just why did you have to be a slut?!” His tone was sharp and vicious. I sat up in the cell, gritting my teeth. “I took you in despite all your shortcomings, bad luck, and overall weird personality. I mean your own family doesn't accept you and I did and that’s how you pay me? Why?” Goodness! Anyone hearing him now would think he was the victim. The poor mate who got cheated on. With my strength waning, my thoughts were brutal. I didn’t trust myself with the right choice of words. I’ve already been reckless once, and I did not want to spit another word that I would regret. When all this was over, if it would be over, I needed somewhere to return to, and as much as I hated myself and loathed Casteel, he was that shelter I had to return to. Because with his well-built facade of a personality, he was the perfect epitome of a perfect mate. People would pity him, but they wouldn’t be so hostile to me. So I bit my tongue to stay quiet. “You just had to parade yourself, Alpha princess around despite having guests, do you not have shame?” He squatted before me. When I didn’t reply he gripped my chin and yanked me forward. “Tell me why did you cheat? Were you horny or was he that good?” I already had the reply ready on my tongue before he added, “As a whore I bet it was one of the guards, servants. Whore rarely has taste or class?” My eyes stung with tears, but I held them back. I'm the alpha princess. Don’t cry. Don’t allow him to see you weak. That’s what he wants. I told myself repeatedly. “Have you always been faithful?” I asked after his little peevish speech. My hollow eyes met his and I saw him flinch before he composed himself. “You slut!” He shoved me hard against the wall. “You cheat and break our sacred bond and now you want to what? Accuse me of doing the same?” I dropped my head in resignation. He jumped to his feet. “I will make you regret hurting my wolf and me!” He turned and left the cell. Locking it. I really contemplated revealing that he had been cheating after his dramatic appearance here. But who am I kidding, no one would believe me. It would be considered blasphemy against the perfect Casteel. When I couldn’t hold myself anymore against hunger, thirst, and cold I lay down on the ground, curled up. Then I heard the cells rattle again. Another visitor? The cologne of the visitor hit me first and the moans and monstrous cock filled my head. It was him. Alpha Rhyan. The alpha that denied me to my face. My stomach twisted and so did my face. He was on the list of my enemies now. “What are you doing here, Apha?” He tsked his tongue in a disapproving manner. “You weren’t this snappy last night.” My eyes widened. So he did remember last night. Even if I knew it was impossible there was a little part in me that thought perhaps he didn’t recognize, or he was even slightly blind and he did not know it was me. But it was a lie. He knew all along and this went to prove just how stupid and naive I was. I scoffed at myself. At this point, I was literally a pushover. He shook his head once again and took my face, forcing me to look into his eyes. “The alpha princess,” he hummed like he was contemplating his next words. “The princess who killed her mother, cursed, a disappointment to her father and pack, and Casteel’s pitiful mate.” My throat tightened and I felt the stink in my eyes return. “I can go on and on about all the things about you.” It hurt, the way I couldn’t explain. “You went digging about me?” The fact that he denied me after everything was terrifying and now he went digging about me? “I have a proposition,” he said amidst my fuming, blatantly ignoring me. “You have to agree to what it is when the time comes.” I barked out a humorless laugh. “And why should I? Have you forgotten that you have never seen me in your entire life?” “Of course, I didn’t think you'd agree right away,” he said, releasing me and rising to his feet. “But it will help both of us.” I scowled, “I strongly believe any plan of yours will help both of us out.” “One of the things you’ll get is to get away from here with my help of course when you agree to it.” He watched me silently, and I knew he knew that he had me. Away from here, from this pack. How would it feel? It was both terrifying and really exciting as well. I eyed him, “and what do you get in return?” “What makes you think I want something?” “Do I look like a kid?” He didn’t answer, but his silence was the answer I needed. He walked over to the door and said, “You are a good fuck, Fane. The best I’ve had, if I might add.” My throat dried, unable to say anything as he left. That fucker! Those— ahh I wanted to scream, hit my head against the wall but then his words echoed in the back of my mind. “The best I’ve had.”Fane’s POVI stared at the commotion, his gloves. The way he wore it was like it was part of him. I thought it was for his usual activities but it turned out to be something more.I couldn’t peel my eyes from the clenched gloved hand. I was sure Isolde probably didn’t know what she had said. The words kept echoing in the back of my head. For a single moment, I was teleported back to when we met and every single time I’d seen him slip the gloves on.I was shoved back as people pushed forward to take a look at the commotion. The room was buzzing with whispers and eyes were fastened on Alpha Rhyan and the girl who had tried to reach him.My eyes darted to Alpha Kaelor, assuming he would be furious at the chaos that had ensued at his birthday and, perhaps furious at Alpha Rhyan.Of all things I imagined, I never thought that he would be mad at the lady who crumbled on the ground because of how hard Alpha Rhyan had hit her.“Please take the girl out,” Alpha Kaelor said evenly to my shock.
Fane’s POVHe was grinning, and I couldn’t help but grin back. I took his hand and introduced myself.“I’m Fane.”“A lovely name.”I blushed. “Thank you.”“I saw you mingling, trying to hide,” he said and I flushed from shame.“Was it that obvious?”He nodded and palmed my face. “There are too many people that I don’t know, and I didn’t know what to do.”Besides back home I just snuck out when I was done being introduced and went to the kitchen. Werewolves of higher rank rarely went there, hence why I went there that day. Here, I didn’t know where the kitchen was and even if I did, I couldn’t exactly go there. So that was why I slithered around, trying to hide myself with food.“No need to explain. I want to get away as well.”My brows shot up. “Really?”“Yes. And I know the place.” He took my hand. I looked around for Alpha Rhyan but he seemed pretty occupied, talking with dignitaries and I didn’t think it would be a problem going out with Lucas.Lucas had dirty blonde hair with blue
FANE’S POVIt was as if Azriel was waiting outside the door, waiting for Isolde to leave because the moment she stepped out of the door, he came rushing in.He was on my case immediately. “What happened? Why did the alpha bring you back unconscious, did he do anything to you?”“You are going to have to slow down and allow me to ask at least one question,” I told him and he sat on the bed. When I didn’t say anything he said, “Well, I’m waiting.”“Nothing major happened.”“Do I look like a kid, Fane?” He deadpanned. “He brought you unconscious. He had to rush to get the doctor and you say you are fine?”My stomach twisted in knots hearing the hurt in his voice.“We ran into an incident on our way back. Some rogue incidents. I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want you to worry.”He frowned. “If I don’t worry for you, then who will?”“I understand, but please don’t get angry.” I dragged him in for a hug, knowing it would calm him down, just like it did.Later when Azriel was out of the ro
Fane’s POVI had questions, a thousand of them. But my mouth was heavy, muscles weak, and pain shooting throughoutthrough the entirety of my body. I heard Alpha Rhyan give a command. I was way too gone to make out his words.“Do not close your eyes, Fane!” He ordered and I almost chuckled.Usually, s would speak in soft tones when someone in their arms was on the verge of passing out, but notothers Alpha Rhyan. My back connected gently with a smooth cool surface and I moaned from the contact. He said something akin to 'hold on' or 'wait up'; I couldn’t quite decipher it.When the darkness pulled me in, Alpha Rhyan’s voice ordered me to keep my eyes open and I forced myself to stay awake. I felt like I was moving, in motion. The motion stopped and a pair of strong arms lifted me again. He carried me and walked inside. I saw the familiar interior of the room, as I went in and out of consciousness.Where are you taking me to? I wanted to ask but every syllable edweighed a pound.“To you
Fane’s POV“You can’t be serious,” I sat up and arranged myself, feeling very naked suddenly. The dress was too short but it didn’t occur to me that it was before or I just didn’t care, however, now?Now I was mad and conscious and actually cared how fucking short.“How old is his son?” I demanded. His driver looked at him from the front seat but didn’t reply which further confirmed my terror.“Don’t tell me—““He’s twenty,” he said casually.“Twenty?” I was in disbelief. “And it makes it better?”He didn’t reply so I shook his head. “Why would you ever take someone’s son, it’s not right.”“That father owes me money.”“And that makes it right? It’s his father who has to pay you, not his son. Why should a child suffer for what the father did?” I demanded brutally. He turned to me, eyes locked on mine, and said very slowly.“Because the sins of the father fall on the children.”At that point, with his eyes fixed on me, it felt like he was speaking those words directly to me. The car su
Fane’s POVI slipped on a mask of confidence with eyes trained on me. They followed me with every click and clack of my heels. I spotted the table where they were playing cards. The man facing Alpha Rhyan, following the hushed whisper in the room, turned to me. His mouth fell while his eyes bulged out.I didn’t let my victory be known, I played completely oblivious to the hunger in his eyes as I walked past him and settled into Alpha Rhyan’s thighs. The moment I did, his hands went round me possessively. I could see others retreat, seeing that I already belonged to someone else, but not all; some were angry that he got to have me.“Did you get another wife?” The man across from Alpha Rhyan asked, stealing a glance at me and then at his card.“Something like that,” Alpha Rhyan said, not directly answering his question. The man hummed. He was handsome even in his advanced age, one could tell he turned a lot of heads in his prime, that was if he didn’t still turn heads now.“I want to ma
