After the 99th time Selina Roal stands me up for our pre-wedding photo shoot, I spot her pre-wedding photos with her blind first love, Felix Lont, on the large screen of the shopping mall. Suddenly finding it all so pointless, I agree to marry Luna Sanderson, the daughter of the wealthiest man in the city. In her joy, she buys an eight-million-dollar pinky ring from an auction and gifts it to me. Just when I think that I've finally found a good woman to spend the rest of my life with, I overhear her conversation with her best friend. "I knew that you weren't actually sincere about marrying Calvin Yangley! When do you plan to take action?" Luna answers coldly, "On the day of our wedding, I'll stage a balloon explosion to injure him. Then, I'll personally head the operation to take his eyes and transfer them to Felix. "I won't get to grow old with Felix in this life, so the least I could do is give him a wedding present and wish him a happy, healthy life." As it turns out, her love and devotion to me are all so that she can take my eyes. Even the act of marrying me is to clear the way for Felix. Immediately after that, I called the wedding studio. "Hello, I would like to cancel the wedding that will be taking place in seven days."

Chapter 1

"But Mr. Yangley, we've already decorated the wedding venue. If you cancel now, we won't be refunding the 2-million-dollar deposit. Are you really sure about this?"

"Yes, I'm sure. Cancel it."

I had barely finished speaking when Luna Sanderson pushed the door open and entered, bringing with her a faint hint of perfume.

"What are you cancelling?"

Instead of answering, I silently ended the call and watched as she took off her high heels before coming over to hug me with her usual smile.

"I've been quite busy with work recently and wasn't able to spend time with you. How about we go on a trip after the wedding is over?"

Then, she took out a diamond-studded watch from her pocket. "I was passing by a watch dealership earlier and thought that this would suit you perfectly, so I got it for you. Shall I help you put it on?"

Selina Roal had coldly neglected and abandoned me 99 times. Similarly, Luna had confessed to me 99 times.

She was the daughter of the wealthiest man in the city, yet she had completely disregarded anyone else's opinion and chased after me relentlessly for five entire years.

I had thought that she would be my salvation, the one person who could accept all of me.

Never would I have ever dreamed that her deep passion for me would be nothing but an act. She had chained herself to me, all so her first love could get to live a blissful life.

When I raised a hand to stop her from putting the watch on my wrist, she shot me a confused look. "What is it? Do you not like this design?"

Her voice was as gentle as it always was, making me suddenly recall the day I had agreed to be with her.

At the time, she had used the humongous screen at the shopping mall to confess her love to me and spent millions of dollars at the auction to buy me a pinky ring.

She had claimed that she must have done a lot of good deeds in her past life to have earned her the chance to meet me in this life, that she would definitely not let me down.

I took a step back. "Luna, I don't want to marry you anymore."

Shock filled Luna's eyes, and her hands scrambled to grab at the hem of my shirt tightly.

"Is it because I've been neglecting you the past few days? I really didn't mean to. I promise it won't happen again, okay?"

"Didn't you already give my wedding suit to Felix?" I asked. "Am I really the person you want to marry?"

Luna was briefly surprised before she hastily explained, "I just wanted him to help try out the cutting. If you mind it that much, I can contact the wedding studio right now and have them customize another suit for you."

With that, she moved as though to take out her phone.

I couldn't be bothered to expose her terrible lies, so I stepped around her to leave.

Luna seized my arm in a tight grip and opened her mouth, but before she could say anything, she received a call from Felix Lont, her first love.

There was a minute change in her expression, and with an apology, she grabbed her jacket and rushed out the door.

I looked at the expensive watch she had tossed onto the table.

On the side of the watch face, carved in a font so small that they were hardly noticeable, were the words, "Beloved Felix".

I knew that this watch model was also named "Felix", so was I really the first person to appear in her mind when she saw it?

Letting out a self-deprecating laugh, I bundled the watch along with everything she had gifted me so far and mailed them to Felix.

After that, I headed to the hospital, only to hear Luna's voice coming from the end of a hallway that I happened to be passing by.
