Chapter 2

Auteur: Insomniac Moon
"Felix, just wait a few more days, alright?" Luna said. "I'll definitely give you the ability to see again. For you, I'm willing to marry and spend the rest of my life with a man I don't even love. What about you? Do you really not have a place for me in your heart, not even a little?"

Felix instantly clamped a hand over her mouth. "Don't say things like that. If Calvin were to hear them, he would be deeply hurt."

His eyes focused unseeingly on a random spot in the air as he thanked Luna for being willing to accompany a useless blind man like him to the hospital.

Just as he was about to wish her a happy marriage, Luna suddenly threw herself into his arms.

"Anyone else can give me their well-wishes, anyone but you."

"Okay," Felix replied. He slowly lowered his head and fumbled a little before managing to press a kiss to the corner of Luna's lips. Then, he told her that he would only be happy if she were in a blissful marriage.

I had only just finished taking photos of them when Luna spotted me. Her brow furrowed as she slipped out of Felix's embrace to shoot me a displeased glare.

"Calvin Yangley, did you follow me here? We aren't even married yet! Can't you give me some privacy?"

I scoffed, "By giving you privacy, you mean letting you run off to have a secret rendezvous with another man?"

Felix was quick to explain, claiming it was only a coincidence that he had run into Luna at the hospital.

"Calvin, I know you blame me for taking Selina away from you, and now, you're jealous that Luna changed the fitting of your wedding suit before giving it to me. You think that a blind man like me doesn't deserve to compete with you, but how could you accuse me and Luna like that?

"No wonder Selina had been all too eager to dump you back then. If you continue to behave like this, it'll only be a matter of time before you lose Luna too."

On my way to the hospital, I had indeed received a message from the wedding studio. They told me that Luna refused to cancel the wedding and had even brought Felix over to take away the suit.

I laughed. "Luna leaving me is exactly what you want, isn't it?"

Since he liked them so much, I didn't mind giving them both to him.

With that, I turned to leave.

Luna wanted to chase after me, but Felix's sudden exclamation had her stopping in her tracks.

After leaving the hospital, I happened to run into Selina, who was exiting her car. Before I could say anything, she charged forward and slapped me harshly.

"Calvin Yangley, I didn't think you would be this vile and malicious! As if it wasn't enough that you constantly pestered me before, but now, you're even trying to slander my fiance?"

My cheek throbbed fiercely with the force of the slap, but Selina didn't give me a chance to steady myself before she tossed her phone at me.

I looked at the screen, realizing that my side account on Instagram had somehow been made public, and it was now filled with intimate photos of Luna and Felix.

The two of them holding hands as they played games, them wearing couples T-shirts as they cooked together…

Only Luna and I knew the password for this account.

When I first made it, I had told her that I wanted to use it to record our love journey. However, it wasn't even two days before I grew too lazy to bother with it anymore.

Hence, this could only mean that Luna had posted these photos.

My finger continued to slowly scroll down, even as my heart sank further the more I did.

Selina pinned me with a frosty gaze. "I didn't think that you would slander your own fiancee in your bid to break Felix and me apart. I truly have underestimated you! I'm well aware of Felix's feelings for me, so there's no way he would go behind my back and cheat on me!"

My hands trembled where they were still holding the phone. Even though I had long since stopped having feelings for her, I still couldn't help the bitterness that welled in me at her words.

It seemed like I truly had terrible taste in women.

I opened my mouth to speak, but at that moment, Luna came over with Felix. Even with Selina right there, the two didn't release their hold on each other's hands.

Luna simply glanced at the contents of the phone before stepping forward to apologize, her demeanor unruffled.

"I'm sure that Calvin only did this in a moment of impulsive anger. After all, everyone knows how much he loved you. For my sake, can we just let this matter go?"

Selina huffed but stopped pressing the matter, choosing to help Felix into the car instead.

However, right before the door was about to shut, she twisted her head to say to Luna, "I suggest that you think this over carefully! Marrying a man like him would only shame and damage your family's reputation!"

I smiled and took out my phone to check for flights home.In the end, I returned home on Christmas Eve.Tears instantly filled my stepfather's eyes when he saw me, and it was as though he hadn't seen me in years, as he pulled me into a tight hug. Oddly enough, the past three months apart seemed to have brought us much closer together. At the end of the day, he was still the only family I had left in this world, and we talked late into the night.Just as I was about to head upstairs to rest, the butler told me that Luna had arrived. However, since my stepfather had previously instructed him not to allow her inside, the butler could only ask if I wanted to go outside and meet her, his expression somewhat conflicted.I glanced outside the window. When I had returned earlier, the skies had still been clear, but it was now snowing heavily. After thinking for a moment, I realized that I hadn't officially bid Luna goodbye yet, so I put on a coat and stepped out into the courtyard.

During my university years, I was the most outstanding student my advisor ever had. However, later on, I poured my whole heart and soul into my relationship with Selina. My only thought had been to marry her as soon as possible. Hence, I had rejected my advisor's suggestion that I stay on to continue my research. Now, reality had proven that there was nothing but regret if one didn't listen to their elders.I had gone the long way around and wasted so much time, only to end up back where I had started. My advisor seemed to notice the melancholy darkening my features. She sighed and stopped asking questions."There's no need to rush into the research right away. Why don't you spend the next few days going around Ferne first? Have a look around, get a feel for the local customs and culture. You only need to officially report to the lab next week."I nodded and headed straight for my hotel. For the next two days, I checked out the various places near my hotel. My originally depresse

Luna snapped her head up in disbelief. She clearly hadn't expected that Felix would push all the blame onto her just to prove his own innocence.Selina happened to arrive just as Luna scoffed and slammed a hand on the table, standing up to yell, "You used me? Felix Lont, you were the one who purposely seduced me back then and even hinted at me a few times to transplant Calvin's eyes into you!"For your sake, I didn't mind sacrificing my happiness to marry him, yet now that things have fallen apart, you're actually shoving all the blame onto me?""What did you say?"Selina stood rooted to the spot, dumbfounded at what she had heard. On her way here, she had already learned what had happened at the wedding. Someone had recorded the videos that had been playing on the screen and uploaded them to the internet, so she had come here precisely to confront Felix.Felix went deathly pale, and with him unable to see a thing, he felt the cold darkness around him even more clearly now. The moment the emcee failed to find me, he immediately informed Luna.Luna, perhaps worried that I had gone back on my word at the last minute and had gone off to cause trouble for Felix, purposely called the hospital. Only once she had confirmed that everything was still going according to plan did she breathe a sigh of relief. However, in the next second, there was an uproar coming from the event hall. She hurried over as quickly as she could, only to see the large screen playing a video of her and Felix embracing and kissing each other in the hospital.By this time, almost all of the guests had arrived and taken their seats. Besides that, the Sanderson family was considered one of the most influential and well-known families in the entire city, so a lot of the guests invited today were from the upper echelons of society.Hence, when they saw the contents of the video, whispers spread through the hall. Everyone cast Luna strange looks. "What's going on? Hurry up and stop that

Unable to find Selina, Felix could only take his anger out on me.I caught the fist he threw at my face, saying, "You were the one who did something wrong. What does it have to do with me?"He bellowed angrily, "It's because you won't stop seducing Selina, you bastard! You're the one who stole my blissful life from me!"Furrowing my brow, I pushed him away from me.Even though I hadn't used much force, Felix stumbled back and crashed into the table behind him as though I had shoved him with all my strength. At the same time, Selina and Luna rushed over, with Luna instantly accusing me angrily, "Calvin Yangley, Felix is blind! How could you pick on him like that?"Selina carefully helped Felix to his feet before shooting me a grim look."Calvin Yangley, you truly won't stop at anything to break me and Felix up, will you? You were even crazy enough to drug your own fiancee so that you could frame him and ruin his reputation!"I was thoroughly stumped by her words. "What did you s

With this new development, I had thoroughly seen through Luna's hypocrisy and finally come to terms with the fact that my genuine feelings had been for naught.Ignoring Luna's offer to take me home, I hailed a cab instead. The moment I stepped through the front door, I spotted Luna's parents and my father sitting on the couch.Naturally, they disapproved of the sudden cancellation of the wedding. My father, not daring to offend the Sandersons, could only shoot me a warning look, clearly wanting me to apologize."Calvin is still young and rather impulsive. Don't you worry, Mr. and Mrs. Sanderson. Since this marriage has already been decided on, we certainly won't cancel it.""No," I interrupted him. Then, turning toward Luna's parents, I went on, "Mr. and Mrs. Sanderson, I've already broken up with Luna.""Shut up!" my father roared as he took off his belt and stalked toward me. "Are you still not done with your nonsense? Seems like I need to teach you a harsh lesson today!" He
