With a sense of duty, Alaana prepares to sacrifice her dreams of a fated bond for the good of her people. But everything changes on her wedding day when she shares a gaze with her fated mate-a mystical Omega servant hidden in the sea of faces. The bond is instant, undeniable, and forbidden. Alaana is now torn between her heart and her responsibilities. Her choices will either mean an opposition to her father, pack, and centuries of traditions or giving up the person born to be hers. Will Alaana follow her heart, risking the stability of her pack? Or will she embrace her duty and walk away from love gifted by fate? As the strongest bond clashes with the heaviest burden, Alaana has to decide what kind of Luna she is to be.

"Elara, do you think I am doing the right thing?" I quavered.
Elara, our most favored maid-smiled back at me through the mirror as delicately she readjusted the lace along my shoulders. "Princess Alaana, you look so beautiful today. Don't worry, everything will be alright," she said, though her hands were entirely steady amidst this whirling storm of excitement that surrounded us.
She smiled weakly at the praise, and then my chest twisted uncomfortably inside. "Thanks," I whispered, knowing my mind was racing furiously; was I ready for this?
There was another maid at my feet, tugging the hem of my gown so that it lay just so upon the floor. The gown itself was white lace, hand-embroidered and fitted tightly enough that it should have made me feel a princess, at least. What it did was put an ever-tightening knot in my stomach.
Elara stepped back, eyed my face critically. "Princess Alaana, do you need more makeup?”
"Yes, I need to be perfect. It is my special day after all," I said, forcing a smile. "Even if I am not feeling perfect."
Elara only raised an eyebrow but said no more, gesturing to the other maids to set on with finishing touches of my makeup. My heart was pounding against my chest as I just stared back at my reflection. I was marrying Rylan, my childhood best friend, the Beta's son, a man I knew since time out of mind. But he wasn't my mate.
My chamber door creaked open, and maids scampered either to the right or the left of the now open doorway, their heads bowed respectfully as my father entered my room, the Alpha King.
"Ah, Alaana, my beautiful daughter," he said, striding toward me with eyes alight. The firm hold of his hands over mine sent shivers crawling over my skin. "You look stunning. Today is a big day for you, for all of us."
I nodded, fighting to keep the smile. "Thank you, Father."
He frowned at me another second before his face relaxed. "I know this isn't what you wanted, Alaana. But it's for the best, you'll see. Rylan will make a fine husband, even if he isn't your mate."
I let a soft breath out. "I know, Father. But… What if I meet my mate after I marry Rylan? What then?"
The Alpha King gave me an assuring smile; he squeezed my hands tighter. "Don't worry about that, dear. When you get married to Rylan, it shall all fall in place. You shall be happy. We have waited long enough now for your mate to show up and now we need someone strong to take over the pack after me. Rylan is that man. And you know him better than anyone else does.
I swallowed hard, pushing words out past the lump in my throat. "I know Rylan is a good man. I just… I don't want to regret this."
"You won't," he said with finality, brooking no argument. "You'll be the Luna this pack needs, and Rylan will be the Alpha at your side. This is what's best for everyone."
I nodded, but my mind had already wandered elsewhere. And what if someday he really did come fetch me, my mate? Could I really push him aside for the pack's sake? I thought it tugged on me heavily, choked.
My father leaned into me, pressing a light kiss against my forehead. "I shall be off. The guests await. Remember you do this not only for yourself but for all the pack. You are my only daughter, Alaana."
I watched him go, the words still echoing within my mind. I turned back to the window, looked out over the pack gathered below. They were all there for me, for this marriage, for what it symbolized: unity, strength, and leadership. But inside, I was a fraud.
The gentle knock at the door startled me and a small Omega servant peered inside. "Princess Alaana, it's time," she whispered.
I nodded, and my stomach twisted even tighter. "Thanks," I muttered, and followed her from the room.
As we entered the big hall where the ceremony was going to be held, some sort of doom clung to me. The pack had decorated everything so nicely-flowers, candles, banners. A perfect setting for a wedding, but all I could feel was the weight of this decision that I was about to make.
My father stood at the entrance, pride reflecting in his eyes as he watched me walk up to him. "You look so radiant, Alaana," he said, reaching for my hand and pulling it out to the aisle.
"Thank you, Father," I whispered back. My eyes swept across the crowded room-all eyes upon mine, smiling faces, eager anticipation. I should be rejoicing. I should be ecstatic. But all that ran through me was cold dread.
Music swelled as we began our procession down the aisle. Familiar faces, alphas and Lunas from other packs-lined the sides, seated and watching with eyes of approval. Everything was perfect. Everything was wrong.
Standing beside the priest, Rylan was handsome in a fitted black suit. His eyes lit as he watched me approach, his excitement palpable on his face. He was ready for this. More than ready.
But I wasn't.
The stairs were growing narrower and more steep; though I felt sure of my way up this side of the mountain, as it were, my heart seemed to catch in my throat at every step.
Continuing up the last stairs that led to the altar, something quite strange happened: a smell, strong, heady, and unfamiliar, caught me like a wave and washed through my senses. My footsteps faltered; my racing heart, my gaze scoured the crowd wild to locate the source.
And then I saw him.
Standing in their midst, plain gray clad as any other servant, his eyes met mine. The world around us dissolved, going misty gray. Nothing remained except that gaze, that connection.
My wolf stirred inside my mind, yowling wildly with excitement. "Mate!" she shrieked in my head over and over.
I averted my face, my breath catching sharp in my throat. This couldn't be happening. Not here. Not now.
It was Rylan's voice that brought me back down to earth. "Alaana?" he asked, furrows of concern etched across his brow as I reached the altar.
I blinked, my heart pounding loudly in my chest, forced a smile onto my face for him. "I'm fine," I lied, while everything inside screamed otherwise.
But I wasn't alright. Far from it.
The instant he uttered that one word, my head started spinning. This couldn't be it now, could it? How could I find my mate just a few minutes from promising myself to another?
The scent was there, strong in my senses, pulling and commanding anew. I spun back into the crowd, and there he was, staring into my eyes with that same strength. There was the connection, the undeniable pull.
My heart pounded, palms sweating. How was I supposed to move forward with this now? Could I marry Rylan, knowing my true mate was only feet away?
The priest spoke, but I wasn't listening. My mind was consumed with the man in the crowd, the one the bond now tethered me to.
Every instinct inside me screamed literally to run to him, to claim him as mine.
But my father's words replayed in my head. The pack, the responsibility, Rylan.
My chest constricted, forcing myself to pay attention to the ceremony.
My eyes trailed to the door of the building. There he stood, The man I'm supposed to get married to, not Rylan. His piercing silver eyes locked on mine.
“I can’t do this,” i muttered, my voice shaking.
"Stop this wedding."
WILLIAM'S POV The blood of the rogues, soaked into my robe. My bones ached, my Wolf moved uncomfortably. We have won.Or at least, I won, if that means anything. Now the Pack was crowded. The rogue's attack was unexpected and brutal. But it passed like a whirlwind, and my anger gave me strength I didn’t expect. Maybe it’s the pain. Perhaps it was the fact that I saw Alaana dressed in white, making vow to someone else. As I entered the guest quarter, I was hailed by the guards. I barely shook my head."Alpha William," one of them said. "The council wants a report.""That will be later," I mumbled. "I need to clean up."I entered the room that was given to me and Lisa to spend the night."William!"Lisa called out I turned back towards her direction. She came up to me like a storm, anger written all over her face, her eyes full of betrayal."You lied!" She shouted, stopping inches from me. Her voice echoed.I opened my eyes wide. "What are you talking about?"I asked, looking confused
ALAANA'S POV Immediately I heard that the Pack was being attacked by rogues. I stood frozen, unable to move,my heart was beating fast, then it occurred to me that my father might be in danger.I ran outside immediately.Rylan was already standing by the window, looking out. "They've crossed the eastern border," he whispered hoarsely. "We have to find my father." I said "No!," he said quickly. "First we have to help the people, I'm very sure the guards are protecting the Alpha."We went outside together, our feet pounding the marble floor of Pack's house. Before we even entered the Alpha quarter, the smell of blood filled the air. We could hear the sounds of rogues screaming. Bodies lay motionless on the floor. Then I sighted a mighty white Wolf, fighting the rogues. His movements were terrifyingly graceful. He mercilessly brought down the rogues, sending their lifeless bodies tumbling across the floor."Who could that be...?" Rylan whispered beside me, his eyes wide. The Wolf was o
RYLAN'S POVI had fought several wars and saw people who died and who got injured severely. But never have I seen someone who died in front of me and resurrected. I couldn't believe my eyes.William.It took me several minutes to recognize him, even though the man who I was looking at right now;looked nothing like the Omega I had last seen, bleeding in the mud.His hair was now clean and shiny, free of sweat and dirt. His once hollow cheeks were now stiff and jagged. His shoulders were broader, his neck straighter, and he wore a black suit that emphasized the aura of a ruler. Next to him stood a beautiful young woman who held his hand. But that was William. It was William, William's eyes that were once filled with pain and defiance, were now deathly calm.He should have been dead.No one returned from this battlefield alive. So William didn't die?. He came back to life. Now he’s back…dressed like a King.I was becoming uncomfortable, as I began to sweat profusely, adjusting my tie.
WILLIAM'S POVThe silence of my room was the only thing that truly understood me.My room was a haven for me, despite the noise of the wind rattling against the tall windows and the noise of the Pack members practicing in the courtyard. I was no longer the Omega servant I once was. Now, I was now the face of Darkmoon Pack, at least in public. I have been a lonely person whose heart bled every day for his Mate.I stood by the window, looking at the sky, my hands wrapped around each other, as I watched the sky. I felt different today. I could feel a heaviness in the air that I couldn’t let go of, as if the forest was holding its breath. My Wolf had been restless. A sure sign that something was about to happen. I didn't know what it was. Then I heard a knock at my door."Come in!" I called out, already pulling away from the window. The door opened, and Alpha Austin walked in, as imposing as ever, but today his demeanor was a little unsettled. His blonde hair, still pulled back neatly, s
ALAANA'S POV Two Years Later I stood at the front of the mirror in my room. My face pale beneath layers of makeup. The Pack was filled with excitement, but my heart remained empty. Today is my wedding day. A day that was meant to be celebrated, laughter and love. But none of that I felt. I stared at my reflection in the mirror,my lips, my makeup were looking perfect but I couldn’t hide my sad eyes from the makeup. I looked like a bride, dressed in the best silk dress my father could afford, but inside me, I felt like a ghost in a mask. It's been two years since I've been crying myself to sleep, his voice ringing in my ear and the warmth of my hug against his skin.I could still feel the Mate bond, deep down I know he is still alive somewhere. My father entered the living room where I was standing, and suddenly closed the door. The veil of my wedding gown fell behind me. My heart was full of fear instead of joy. The room was silent, except for the sound of music that echoed thr
ALAANA'S POV I went to the warriors quarter and pushed the door where Rylan was. The soldiers inside seemed surprised at the sudden intrusion, but I ignored their gaze. My eyes, sharp as a hurricane, scanned the room until I saw Rylan seated at a corner.“Rylan”. I called out My breath hitched, my eyes wide and sensual. Rylan stood alone, leaning against his backpack after hours of training, but straightened at the sight of me."Princess Alaana?" he called, startled by my sudden appearance. "What are you doing here? It's late..." He asked."Don't pretend like you care," I said, my voice sharp and steel-sharp. "I came for the truth."Rylan frowned. "What truth are you talking about?"His eyes were burning, fierce and broken. "What did you do to William's?"He opened and closed his mouth. "William's?""Don't pretend to be surprised!" I shouted. "Don't act like an innocent warrior, Rylan. I know. I've known you for a long time now. And enough is enough."Rylan blinked. "Princess Alaana
