Chapter 13

DRAX’S POV

For the first time since I became a fugitive and was being hunted, I actually had a plan.

Prior to now, I had no bearing, no direction, no destination, no will to live. I was just a lost soul, wandering the forest alone. To be honest, I was on the verge of death. I had even contemplated suicide, but I have a feeling that any attempt I made to take my life would just result in my wolf emerging with fury to cause havoc.

Even if it wasn’t intentional, sometimes I’m low-key grateful that Rissa got dragged into all of this. Because the only thing that keeps me going right now is my promise to keep her safe.

I’m pretty sure I would have given up long ago if the only thing at stake was my life. But because someone else is involved, I can’t give up. I can’t afford to have more blood on my hands.

Although she’s annoying as hell, I have to make sure she stays alive. Or at least she doesn’t die because of me. My conscience wouldn’t be able to handle that.
