Adriana's POV

"Ma'am! Ma'am, what happened?"

The nurse was back. Her face was pale with shock as she knelt beside me on the wet floor. Her hands were gentle as she checked me over.

"I fell," I said through the tears. "There was water on the floor, and I slipped."

"We need to get you back to your room right now." The nurse helped me sit up and her arm supported my back. "Can you stand?"

"I think so." But when I tried to get up, fresh blood started flowing down in between my legs. "Oh God, there's so much blood."

"It's going to be okay," the nurse said, but her voice sounded obviously worried. "The doctor is on her way."

Two more nurses appeared and they lifted me into the wheelchair carefully. The ride back to my room felt like it took forever, even though it was only a few doors down.

"Get her on the bed," one of the nurses said. "And page Dr. Williams from OB again. Tell her it's urgent."
