Chapter 13

Valerie pov

I squeezed the hem of my top to control the pain in my chest. Leo bent down to calm me down but that wouldn’t help. What happened? Was this a prank?

“Ray, it’s me your sister Valerie.” I said once again hoping that maybe he would smile and tell me it’s a prank like he used to do when we were kids.

But instead, he moved closer to the women who put me behind bars for this three years, hands on her shoulder, he looked at her, both of them smiling to one another.

His expression changed once he turned to look at me. Slowly he walked closer and closer think he was a meter away from me.

“Sister? How dare you claim to be her?” He asked, shouting at the top of his voice which startled me and pointing towards the other Valerie.

“How can you say such a thing? I am your sister Ray. What has gotten into you?” I asked and turned to look and Leo who was squeezing my hand, trying his best to calm my anger.

Bending down to my level, Leo whispered into my ears.

“I am sorry Valerie, but he was confirmed to have lost his memory” He said and the tears I have been holding back began to pour down.

“Awwwn, little baby is crying.” the strange Valerie mocked.

“That’s enough, Ray I won’t blame you for not remembering your real sister but all I hope is that you don’t do anything to hurt her and then later regret it.” Leo said, his hands on Ray shoulder but my brother is here his hand off and walked towards the strange Valerie.

“You are not welcome here, your things will be arranged and sent down to you.”

“What?!!! This is my father house and I am not leaving.”

“Which father? The one you lied and claimed to be his daughter or the one you killed.” Ray asked in a very loud and angry voice that made me shiver.

“Believe me Ray, I didn’t do any of that.”

“Liars don’t always admit the truth. You almost got me killed!! You should be thankful to my real sister or else, you would have been spending the rest of your life in that prison.”

My heart stopped beat, the tears in my eyes stopped. This strange woman has succeeded in using my brother’s condition against me.

“That’s enough Ray!! If you weren’t my best friend, I would have beaten some sense back into your head. But I won’t and so don’t push me.”

“I don’t even know who the hell you are. You know what, I want both of you to get out of my house.”

Leo came to stand by my back. All this while I’m get have been talking I was quite and trying to process all my thoughts. Now that they are demanding me to leave, they just made a grave mistake.

“I won’t be leaving.”

“Valerie?!”

“No Leo, I won’t be leaving. I’ll remain in my father’s house.”

“You’re very selfish. Even after this years in prison, you’ve not learnt a single lesson.” He said as he began to move forward to me. Leo already in front of me to protect me.

I’ve never seen my brother in this type of mood before. He was just soo ready to send me out of the house.

“Can you end all this drama and leave?” Came Charles voice and all heads turned to where he stood up the stairs. He was wearing just a pair of black trousers with no shirt.

Maybe if I was still in love with him, I would have still found him attractive but then now, he irritated me than the pigs.

“I’ve been waiting for you babe.”

“Ohh sweetheart, this little rat was just causing a scene.” The strange woman said to Charles before looking at me. I know she wanted me to feel hurt that she also had my ex husband on her web, but I didn’t care.

“I’ve told you, I won’t leave.” I said looking at my rival dead in the eye.

“Well, I knew you would but up a challenge so I created some conditions.”

I arched my eyebrows, at her words.

“Become our maid if you really want to stay or eat your shame and leave this mansion at once.”

“Don’t you have a heart?” Leo questioned.

“Hey, don’t say anything. She is even lenient. I would have thrown her out.” Charles said.

My hands grapped the handle of my wheelchair tighter trying my best to control myself from standing and fighting this woman.

“Fine.” I let out after I couldn’t tolerate all their arguments.

“Fine, I’ll become your maid.” I said. Leo looked angry and was about to say something when I raised my hands up to stop him from speaking.

“That’s my decision and no one would stop me.” I said. My face staring at the ground in anger.

This was my only chance of seeing what goes on in the house and plan on how to expose every lie.

“Very well then.” My rival said and so everyone turned and left.

“How could you accept such a thing? You can’t walk Valerie!!” Leo said once everyone was out of sight.

“I know what I am doing.” I said to him and hoped that he would understand.

“Why don’t you just come and stay with me. Start afresh,huh?”

“Never you say that. A strange woman just came out of nowhere to impersonate me, take advantage of my brother’s health. And you want me to see back and do nothing?”

“I didn’t say you shouldn’t do anything. But you will only be getting hurt. Look around, you are surrounded by evil people.“

“I’ll be fine. Stop worrying Leo.” I said to him, my hands on his shoulders trying to assure him that I would be fine.

“Well, you’re mind is made up. Let me take you upstairs.” He said before gently caring me up the stairs. Step by step, my body tensed to the closeness of his body.

I didn’t realize that I was grabbing the collar of his shirt so tight, our eyes were locked in each other, I could hear our heartbeats now. Our little moment was interrupted by Charles.

“You can take your little love drama anywhere else . You know that?” He said with a look of disgust on his face.

Leo ignored him and took me inside my room, placing me on the bed like I was a baby.

I looked around my room and found out that my things were no longer there. The room was empty aside the bed, tears threatened to flow from my eyes but I braved up.

This wasn’t the time to shed tears but to pay the people who hurt me the most.

“Thank you Leo, I can manage from here.”

“You know Val, you don’t have to do this. You can come stay with me and my mom.”

“No Leo, we’ve all talked about this and I won’t be repeating myself.”

“Okay Val. I’ll not question you again. But make sure you call me everyday so I can be sure you are fine.”

“I will Leo, thank you.” I said with a small smile, after bringing my wheelchair up the stairs, I watch him leave and it made me sad a bit.

I never planned to be in this condition but since this is happening, I’ll give them a fight.
