Chapter 13: Yes!

The Browns' mansion.

Edsel Brown sat at his desk. In front of him was his daughter, Tina's phone. At that time, this phone constantly displayed calls coming from none other than Marcus Bailey.

Edsel frowned, thinking that Marcus had seen that the Omega he had married to was not Tina.

In his head, he quickly came up with a plan.

Edsel cleared his throat. He then picked up the phone, "Marcus?"

On the other end of the phone, Marcus's voice rang out. It sounded somewhat surprised, "Edsel?"

It was like he was not expecting Edsel to pick up the phone.

"Your wedding night, and you didn't even pay attention to your mate, but calling Tina like this?"

"Where's Tina?", Marcus no longer bothered to beat around the brush with Edsel.

Edsel nonchalantly replied to Marcus, "I don't know where she was, Marcus. She has disappeared."

"She has disappeared?" exclaimed Marcus, unable to believe what he had just heard.

Why did Tina disappear?

When did it happen? Even though Tina was slow to answer his messages, his phone calls. After all, Tina was still there? Then why did Edsel say Tina had disappeared?

"Are you deceiving me?" asked Marcus quietly.

In response to Marcus's threat, Edsel simply laughed, "Nope. Not at all. I wouldn't dare."

"You..."

"Marcus, you married my daughter, exactly as you asked for. Now you're telling me that I'm deceiving you. What do you mean? Not to mention, I don't know where Tina is now."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Tina disappeared a week before the wedding. It's useless to look for her now. We're going crazy, too. That's it. I'm hanging up now."

Edsel immediately hung up, leaving Marcus to say anything else.

"Why did you say that?"

Sitting at the coffee table across from Edsel's working desk, Brenna closed the book in her hand and placed it on her lap. She looked up at her husband, her eyes sharp.

"There's no guarantee," Edsel said.

His headless statement made it hard for Brenna to understand, "Excuse me?"

But Edsel said nothing more, he just shook his head, signaling to Brenna not to say anything else.

Indeed, there was no guarantee.

Marcus's father, the deceased Alpha leader, was a very favored leader. A talented, intelligent man. Not to mention, an excellent fighter. His Luna was also an astute beta. If so, could the son of the two of them be a mediocre man?

Raiz Bailey, the deceased Alpha leader's brother, was not a weak wolf, too. He had been hiding behind his brother's shadow for too long. During that time, he also built his faction. Straight off, his brother was dead. His brother's mate had been struggled to fend off until Marcus grew up.

Marcus needed support. He needed a rising star like the Browns backing him.

Raiz also needs support. He also chose the Browns.

But what Edsel didn't understand was why did Raiz also recommend the Browns to Lady Bailey?

However, no matter what Raiz was calculating, it was fortunate that Edsel had two daughters. Whether Marcus or Raiz would be Alpha leaders, the Browns benefited.

Thinking about it, he picked up his phone and texted Giselle a message.

When he finished, Edsel leaned back to his chair, taking a deep breath.

Mrs. Stephern couldn't get home anytime soon.

"Arrange for Giselle's mother a place in the house," Edsel said suddenly.

"Excuse me?", Brenna could not believe what she had just heard. Did Edsel say anything about that dirty wolf named Judy Stephern?

"It's best to find her a house in the villa. No one can come and disturb. Make sure to ensure her security. If so, her little girl could be in our benefit."

Edsel said nothing more. He closed his eyes, completely relaxed.

Oh, how he could not wait any longer. Edsel was so impatient then.

***

Marcus answered the phone and didn't know what to taste.

Tina's gone.

Was it...was it Giselle who forced Tina to leave?

But how did Giselle know who would mate with Tina? Besides, he and Giselle had only met once or twice. How...How...Marcus thought about it.

The only possible reason for Giselle to do this was they imprinted. However, if they had imprinted, it would have had to affect Marcus as well.

Why was only Giselle alone?

Plus, Giselle herself said she was going to get married, too? Then why did it turn into marrying him?

Hundreds of thousands of questions together followed the turnaround in his head. It was so annoying that it made him headache.

Marcus squeezed his phone tightly in his hand, took a deep breath, pushed open the door into the room.

Giselle was startled when she heard the thudding shout. She quickly dropped her phone, got up from the couch. She wanted to get close to Marcus but stopped in her track. She stood there like her feet had been glued in her position.

The last scene appeared in Giselle's head again, making her not dare to get any closer.

Marcus saw Giselle's silhouette, it reminded him of the unbearable pain of last time. It was completely faded then. He knew, his anger did not do him any good. If he stayed fuming, he would not have any answers for his questions or have Tina back.

However, he needed to know all of the stories.

Marcus took a deep breath, slowly opened his mouth, "We should talk. Calmly. You said you were going to get married right, Giselle? So why...why me? Where's Tina? Where's my Tina?"

Giselle said nothing. She shrugged her shoulders. She did not know what to do or say then. Her eyebrows furrowed, sadly. Sadness swam in her beautiful doe eyes.

She wanted to know why, too.

Why did it have come to this?

"Don't shrug at me, Giselle. I'm trying to stay calm here. Please, tell me where is my Tina?", Marcus almost begging her.

Giselle bit her lip, feeling bitter in her heart. Her heart was like someone was squeezing it. It hurts so much that she couldn't breathe.

"I... I don't know, Marcus," Giselle said, starting to tremble.

Marcus seemed to try to control himself, staying self-collected. He took a few deep breaths, and calmly asked again, "Why was that, Giselle? What's the story of all of this? Why are you here?"

"Because I like you!"

"Excuse me?" exclaimed Marcus, not believing his ear.

Giselle clenched her hand into a fist, trying to keep her composure. She repeated, "I like you."

Marcus shook his head, disbelieved, "You've got to be kidding me!"

Giselle insisted, "No. I meant every word I've said, Marcus. I like you. I want to be with you more than anything!"

Suddenly, a frantic thought flashed through Marcus's head, "So... That's why you kicked Tina out, didn't you? That's why Edsel didn't know where Tina was. Tina didn't answer my phone not because she didn't want to, but because she was kicked out by you so she couldn't!

Edsel couldn't turn us down, so he brought you in for Tina. It's because of you..."

Suddenly, the anger that had calmed down in Marcus's heart surged, bursting like a fire of prosperity.

Faced with Marcus's wrath, Giselle, no matter how frightened she was, couldn't back down then. She recalled Edsel's earlier message, Giselle knew she couldn't turn around. There was no way back then.

The plan she had planned on discussing with Marcus, was no longer could escape her mouth. She could not talk about it anymore.

Giselle gritted her teeth, trying to pull out a word, "Yes!"

The word "yes" was like the spark for the slow-detonating bomb in Marcus.

Marcus stormed to her side. His hard, cold steel-like arms squeezed the sides of Giselle's shoulders. His eyes were bright red, and his voice was also low and threatening, "If you had wanted to take Tina's place so much, I would be your best!"

Marcus threw Giselle to bed.

The Omega was frightened, too scared to move an inch.

In front of her, it was not the Marcus she had known before anymore.

Right there and then, in front of her, Marcus was nothing different from the devil rising from the ground. He was so ready to kill her.
