Chapter 30: Pay for her life

Marcus.

We could not go in any further in our human forms. It would be dangerous, so we shifted.

“Where’s your friend, mom?”

I asked her. I had sniffed around to find there were no other scents than Ben, my mom, and me. Our scents were so visible compared to the two rogues that hid in the abandoned warehouse over there.

We made sure to keep a safe distance from them.

Mom did not answer me.

But then, I heard a low roar echoing from the other side of the forest.

My ears peaked at the faint sound. I immediately stood up, looking around. My heart was pounding. That painful roaring got me worked up. I wanted to run to where that sound was. I felt like I was on fire. Anxiety crept through all the veins in my body, urging me to go whenever.

The thrill was eating me up.  

“Do you hear that?”
