Chapter 24

Evelyn's (Vanessa's sister) POV

I winced in pain as I tried to sit up in bed, my body still aching from the incident with Kilan. Just as I managed to prop myself up, there was a soft knock at the door.

"Come in," I said, my voice hoarse. A young maid entered the room.

"My lady, the Alpha seeks your presence at the dining hall," she said, bowing. I felt a wave of dread wash over me. What did he want? I struggled to my feet, dreading the thought of facing him.

"I'll be there," I said, dismissing the maid. I groaned as I pulled myself out of bed, my body aching and bruised. I grabbed a coat from the wardrobe and pulled it on, hoping it would hide the worst of the damage. I limped down the hallway, trying not to aggravate my injuries as I headed towards the dining hall. I managed to make my way to the dining hall and sat down at the table.
