                                                  Lyrica

My phone vibrated for the tenth time since I came out here. Glancing down at the screen, it showed I had yet again another text message. I didn't bother reading it. Just placed my phone face down as I looked out across the pond. This is one of my favorite spots to come and clear my head and to breathe. Ever since the meeting, you can feel the tension drifting through the pack. As most are worried, some are afraid; I can't blame them. Rogues have plagued our borders every night.

My worry for my father grew. I know mom is just as worried, but she handles it better, something she has learned to live with all these years.

I was waiting to hear back about me returning to college. Dad said he reached out to the Alpha but has not heard anything back yet. I'm to return in three days. I can't believe how fast the days have gone. I'm hoping he lets me. It will hurt my credits and my overall grades if I can not, and I will get knocked out of the rotation and lose my grade for me to pass the course, and I really need to pass it.

So far everyone has followed the rules the Alpha put in place. Dad said everyone is safe in their houses no later than eight each night. No one has gotten hurt with these rogue attacks other than the patrol groups and some of the warriors. But the once easy feeling and safety you would feel as you walked through the pack was replaced with tension and fear.

"Hey Lyrica." Someone called out to me, making me look over my shoulder. Seeing a group of girls I knew as we grew up together just was never super close, but I guess you could say we were friends.

I gave them a wave. They came towards me. "We didn't think you were still here," The one Elena said as she sat down next to me,

I nodded. "Have to wait for the Alpha to clear me to return. I haven't heard anything yet." I told her as the other sit down.

"I guess with all this rogue business going on, he is being extra cautious." One of the other ones spoke.

We all nodded.

"I get it. I just hope he lets me. I do not want to lose my grades or credits, and have to make them up."

I feel my phone again but do not look at it.

"I can understand that. I would hate to have to start over, but he probably let you, seeing as you do not come back each day. Right?"

I shrugged, "My dad seems to think the same. I mean it would be another month or so before I got time to come back for a visit. I only came this week cause all my roommates are gone with the short break."

Just like with my parents, I can't tell them the real reason why I came this week.

"So.. how is it living the college life huh?" one of the others asks. "You get a chance to have a first row seat to all that partying they talk about."

That made me chuckle, as the other laughed. "It's not as glamorous as it sounds, yeah there are some parties, but I stay clear of them. My classes are grueling and I need to be on my toes, cant afford to screw them up. But I can say the parties are almost every weekend and sometimes during the week."

"That sucks, isn't college like supposed to be the wild time in your life?" Elena asked.

I laughed, shaking my head. "Sure if you have nothing to worry about for passing, I know some have an easy pass cause of who they are and those are the ones who party hardy all the time. I can't afford to misstep and have to start over again. Besides, not sure drinking till I puke sounds like fun for me."

"Ok, ok, enough about the parties, I want to know about those college guys," She wiggled her brows. I couldn't help but laugh a full on real laugh,

I shook my head. "Why are you asking about human boys when you all have these Greek gods running around here." I waved my hand around in front of us.

"Oh come on Lyrica. Looking at these guys here is turning boring. I mean we would like a variety please, and besides I heard some are just good looking."

"Oh my god you did not just say variety, did you?"

She slapped my upper arm. "Shut it. Now come on, fill us in on the college guys, oh hey do you have a swim team? I would love to see some of them in one of those tight Speedos."

"Oh me too. Bet they look yummy."

"OOO and all that water running down their chest and bodies," All three of them let out this dreamy sigh.

"You guys are nuts. You have all these hot males running around here, and you are day dreaming about a human guy in underwear? I mean come on, the males here can shift into wolves and pretty much pull a car door off the hinges without opening it and you want some human boy who can't open a jar?"

"Yeah but those males are annoying and so full of themselves; they think they are the goddess's gift to females and it's all this primal, what I say goes. crap, I for one would love the chance to boss around some male and make him bend to my will and do my bidding. Instead of the you're mine and no one can touch you line,"

I just stared at her, blinking,

"I have to agree, I would love me some fifty shades of grey, please."

I shake my head, "You guys are nuts, but I can say some of the human guys are nice and helpful; not all have raging hormones."

At those words they all broke out into a laugh, and for the first time in months I felt a small bit of weight lift off my chest as I sat here talking with them. I keep to myself so much at school, knowing I can't risk it, and here I can just be me.

"Hey do you think the human guys are hung as well as our guys are?"

"I heard they can be very blessed," one of them said,

"How would you know? You ever see one?"

Her face turned red. "Stacey!" Elena said as she slapped her shoulder,

"What? I was curious so I looked up some things."

With another fit of laughter,

"It's always the quiet ones."

My phone broke me out of my laughing as it was ringing this time. I didn't look at the screen as I picked it, swiping at the screen.

"Hello."

"So you thought hiding in that so called pack could keep you from me huh my little birdie," HIs deep rough voice carried through the line all traces of laughter or happy I was feeling left me so fast I pulled in a deep breath, I couldn't form words, Just held the phone to my ear all the surrounding noise fade away as a rushing sound filled my ears,

"Look at you sitting there laughing it up with those cheap she wolves, so unaware of what's lurking in the bushes,"

My heart picked up as my head began to swivel, looking at the area around us but I saw nothing.

"I see I have our attention now, don't I? Do not worry. When I come for you, it will be when you are least expecting it; it will be a surprise and no one will know who it was, and no one will stop me. I told you, you are mine, I tired of waiting, my sweet Lyrica."

And with that, the line went dead and so did my heart.

  • My Lycan Mate   Chapter 26

LyricaI can say I have never felt fear like I did sitting in that car with those red eyes looking in through the window at me, I saw those white fangs as he smiled at me. Wren let out a growl his hand went to the handle I quickly grabbed his wrist. "Don't"His head whipped back around to look at me, "They will not stay out long, If they get in here it will be worse. I can hold them off till help gets here." He looked up at Dad. "Once I step out take off, Get her away from them, Andy and the warriors are on the way. I will hold them off."Dad gave a nod, "Ly get up here." Shaking my head I clung to Wrens arm, "No. Please do not get out." My eyes looked past him out the window seeing a lot more red eye glowing off in the distance. "There are to many of them, you can not hold them off on your own."Gripping his arm tighter, He gave me a smile leaning closer. "No need to worry, I have faced worse, the main thing is you. The

WrenI wanted to ask her about the scent but I held it back seeing how she really did not recall anything that happened before she past out, Her Dad was right she was mad at first but at the mention of what is happing at the pack not that I wanted to play on her feeling like that, she soften. She understand more then most in the pack does about what going on, I see them everyday going about like nothing is happening the Alpha had put out certain orders some had followed but a lot of them haven't they walk through the pack land without a care in the world that Rogues have been attacking them and getting closer to the houses each time. But Lyrica isn't like them, She knows what is at stake if something would to go wrong, I know when we get back I have to tell them what I know so she can be protected this was a big enough risk and I wouldn't be surprised if they know about her already. This changes everything I do not wan

Asher Where the hell was she? I have been watching all morning, and there is no sign of her anywhere. I even clocked her classes. I know her schedule like the back of my hand, but she was not in any of them. I asked one of her teachers and she said she had not heard from her. But she did not show up in class. And that is odd. She is like a robot with the classes. It made it so easy to learn her patterns and she never knew it. Now I sat waiting in the food court. She comes through here on her way to her afternoon classes. She grabs something small on her way. I have never seen her sit and eat in here. But yet again, there was no sign of her. Growling, I left out of there, heading to the classroom she is to be in. Peeking in quickly, she was there at the table where she sits with the other four. Her chair is empty. Slamming my fist against the wall, I spin, heading out of there. Going straight to my sliding, I s

Lyrica Why did it feel like I was moving? Not like floating, but as if I'm on a slow-moving roller coaster. My eyes slowly peeled open. A dark-colored ceiling came into view, along with the smell of leather and exhaust. Why did I smell exhaust? Turning my head, I saw the back of a seat with a body sitting in it. Squinting a little, I shifted to sit up using the back of the seat in front of me, The movement caught the person's attention. Their head turned and it was Dad, "Dad? What is going on? Why am I in a car?" My head started to swivel. I didn't recognize the car. "Whose?" I started to ask when my eyes landed on the person sitting in the seat next to me. Shaking my head a little, I looked at the person again. "Wren?. Wait, why are you here?" He looked towards Dad, "You were right, she does not recall anything." I frowned, looking to Dad. "What is he talking about and where are we going?" I glanced out the

Wren I watched as she stared up at me. Her eyes blinked with that look on her face, and then the next minute her eyes rolled to the back of her head as her knees gave out. I was moving my arms, shooting out, wrapping around her as her whole body went limp, "Ly!" Her dad called her as he was next to us. I scooped her up, moving to her bed, laying her down gently, moving the few strands of hair from her face. Pressing my palm to her forehead, I could feel she was clammy but cool to the touch. Her dad moved to the other side of the bed. Dropping to his knees, he grabbed her hand. His own moved to her face, doing the same thing I just did. "She don't have a fever," I spoke. He didn't say anything continued with what he was doing. Jumping up to his feet, he went in her bathroom, coming back out a few seconds later with a wet cloth in his hands. He wiped her face then rolled it, placing it across her forehead. "She doe

  • My Lycan Mate   Chapter 21

Lyrica It felt like I had just fallen asleep. When there was a loud pounding coming from downstairs, making me shoot straight up in bed, my eyes instantly scanning my room, my heart thumping in my chest as I tried pulling in deep breaths. 'He's not here Lyrica, your safe.' I told myself. I was about to lie back when the pounding came again. I heard my roommates moving outside my door. They were grumbling and yelling to hang on. I grabbed my phone, tapping the screen to see what time it was. It was almost one in the morning. Rubbing my forehead, I had only been asleep for a half hour. God I could kick whoever was making that noise. Just as I tossed the blanket off me, my door flew open, pulling a loud scream out of me as I jumped back. My mind instantly went on the defense. I jumped out the other side of the bed. I couldn't see anything. All I knew was I needed to move, to get away, "No." My feet were moving
