Chapter 11

Cassie POV

“Jessie!” I practically shouted, frustrated that the woman was obviously so busy with some guy that she didn't even hear me calling her name.

I heard a rustling sound behind me and spun around to see Boss, his face partly obscured in the darkness.

“Cassie? Aren't you meant to be attending to Mr. Costa's party?” he asked as he stepped closer.

I don't know why I did it, but I stepped backward as if to get away from him.

“Yeah, he asked me to get him a bottle of brandy and I forgot to ask which one he liked. I don't want to look like an idiot so I wanted to ask Jessie if she knew,” I embellished the truth slightly. “The guys said she came out here for a quick smoke, but I can't see her.”

Boss shrugged and pulled out a box of cigarettes, putting one in his mouth before he lit it and crumpled up the now empty box.

“Costa drinks d'Usse cognac,” he replied, taking a drag of his cigarette before he threw the empty box at the open dumpster.

He missed miserably and it bounced off

I'm crying over here. I wonder if the Boss got a little too handsy and Jessie tried to get away, and he killed her for it. Perhaps he got what wanted hence the cigarette he started smoking. Perhaps it was Gerald sending Cassie a warning. Can't wait for more chapters.
