~Alexandra’s Point of View~
“What a fucking circus,” I said, staring out my window, shaking my head.
The entire front gate of the property was swarming with leeches, vile creatures with nothing better to do than to pry into people’s lives. It had now been about 26 hours since the arrests and they likely weren’t going away anytime soon.
I looked in the mirror at my pantsuit and smoothed out the blazer. I had to look my best for the roaches outside. But I would never let them have anything other than my best fake smile.
“All ready,” I announced as I trotted down the stairs to join mother and Emilia.
They were both also well dressed, though Emilia looked simply
~Alexsey’s Point of View~ I broke my own rule that I should always honor above all else. Never … ever fucking lose my patience. When that happens, I give up control. Now I’m sitting in the damn house on a full moon, fighting my wolf that doesn’t give a flying fuck about an ankle bracelet. I wanted to blame Mickey, he never should have let me go in that bar, full of a hot head and hell bent on revenge. But I wouldn’t have listened to him anyhow and I know that. “Sir? Your cousin Ivan is here to see you,” the butler said. Mickey flicked his head at me in a questioning manner. Viktor’s son was essentially shunned from the family and had nothing to do with our dealings. I never felt ill toward him, but Viktor was very old school and unfortunately cho
~Emilia’s Point of View~ I was getting pretty damn tired of seeing Pavel and I was very close to asking Aleksey when he was leaving. I get that it was the appropriate thing for him to offer support, but the guys were out on bail quickly and we hardly needed him anymore. They wouldn’t go to trial for probably months. I was a complete fucking nervous wreck about it all and we’d barely talked since the plane. I laid in bed after our long run, waiting for my mate to join me. Sofia said I probably wouldn’t be able to shift after my first trimester and I shouldn’t eat any raw meat from now on. My wolf wasn’t happy about that but I supposed I needed to ask a doctor. Shit! Would Aleksey be able to get permission to go to my appointments? Ugh. Just when things start looking up, just when life seems to
~Alexandra’s Point of View~“No, next,” I said, dismissively.I’d been shopping with Emilia for over an hour and we’d barely found two acceptable ensembles. If she was going to have big dog conversations, she certainly couldn’t look like she was from the pound. Furthermore, the right outfit would … and should empower her. I can help her with what to say but the delivery is everything. Confidence!Emilia grumbled and the sales clerk followed her back into the dressing room.“How about these,” mother said, holding up two pant suits.“That color is so five years ago,” I said, pointing at the first.
~Aleksey’s Point of View~ I was a nervous fucking wreck and I hated the feeling. Seemed to be a lot of that going on lately. Between meeting with the lawyers and teetering on how much we wanted to tell the females in our lives about our scheme and sending Emilia with my mother out to deal with other bosses … I was sure I’d have a full head of gray hair in a few days. Alexandra was being a lot more cocky now that she had her wolf, if that were even possible. It was obvious she now wanted to contribute more to the family and I was going to have to clue her into our court scheme and give her tasks. I set a meet with the Chinese and Italian bosses this week, and I was flying in trusted associates to pose as security but they were doubling as translators. Clearly neither my mate nor my mom would know what kinds of things they might snicker on the fl
~Emilia’s Point of View~ If you looked up “scared shitless” in the dictionary there was a picture of me, I was sure of it. Aleksey and Alexandra had spent two days prepping me for these meetings, but all they did was make me more nervous. I couldn’t just rely on Sofia to do all the talking. She’d be calm and cool, but she was also still questioning if these people tried to off her mate. One little thing could set her off. Aleksey said that having Sofia with me gave me legitimacy, despite the fact that he set up the meetings and said I was going. I needed to get my face out there, have it be seen and known. That was the last fucking thing I wanted but it seemed like that ship had sailed. I was mated into the family and that’s all there was to it. Not that the humans would give a shit about that. Ton
~Alexandra’s Point of View~ RING RING RING Unknown number. Hmm. I hovered my finger over the ignore button before I let my curiosity get the best of me. “Hello,” I said as dryly as possible. “Hey Alexandra, it’s Pavel,” a voice said. I found myself sitting up straight and puckering my lips for no good reason. “Oh hello,” I said, trying to act uninterested. I couldn’t sound eager. Fuck if I had a dollar for every time I secretly wished he’d call me. He’d ask me out. Hell that he’d pay any attention to me at all. “I got a call from Emmy yesterday that you were ope
~Emilia’s Point of View~ Our car was pulling up to the restaurant where we would be meeting Bohai Zhang and that was the only name I knew. Apparently he didn’t allow many lower level men to participate in meetings, at least not this one. They might be present but I would only be speaking to the boss it seemed. “Keep your posture up and your head high. He’s just a human, boss or not. Aleksey mentioned he wasn’t thrilled about meeting with women. Well, we’re not inviting him to the house so it’s this or nothing,” Sofia said, touching my hand. “Well Lorenzo and his goober didn’t care that we were females, it was just a chance for them to flirt shamelessly. But this guy is married, probably has mistresses on the side anyhow,” I said, taking in the outside of the place.
~Aleksey’s Point of View~“That’s crazy, does mother even have that kind of pull with the owners of the country club,” I laughed, hearing my mate tell me about her night.“How would I know? But probably, I have no idea. I mean hell she knows all of the richest women in Chicago,” Emilia said, throwing a pillow at me.“Hmm. Bohai is extremely astute. He’s been boss since the early 90’s so he should be. I’ll talk to Mickey about it. He probably has five Roberts on his payroll, he probably knows everything,” I said, feeling a bit worried.“Well he gave me the willies for sure. There were a few tense moments but I thought it still went okay. I hate to think how it would have been if no
