Chapter 3: The master's decision.

A week later.

Ezra's POV:

I got called to the master's study.

Fred and I came in, and the master was busy with paperwork.

" Master, she is here," Fred said.

"You can do what I asked you to do," the master said to Fred.

Fred bought out a key and came close to me and unlocked the chain around my neck.

I was speechless with the chain removed, which means I was no longer a slave.

"You will become a servant from now on and you shall be paid,you have your freedom back,if you wish to you provisions will be made for you the kid you said is the only heir of his family." Master Chris said as he flipped through the papier work,he wasn't looking at me.

Silence filled the room ,because I was speechless.

He finally looked at me .

"Are you not satisfied with it?" he asked.

"I...I am just speechless thank you Master." I stammered.

"Hmm"was his only reply to me.

"Ask the head maid to tutor her on how to behave, you can leave." Master Chris said .

Fred took me to the head maid .

"She is the new servant, the master personally asked you to tutor her,I shall leave her in your care" Fred said to the head maid and left.

The head maid was a middle aged woman.

"You can call Nora,What is your name?" The woman asked, staring at me from head to toe.

"Ezra," I answered.

"Ezra...first you need a bath". She said and I flinched.

"No ....I am fine" I said and looked down.

"You can't be a servant in this house and look like that, do you want to bring shame to the master?" she said immediately.

"I am fine, I will change my clothes." I replied.

"And the smell, what will you do about that?" She asked.

"I am fine," I insisted.

She sighed.

"Since the master sent you to learn, let us begin your lessons,you can change your clothes " Nora said and led me to my room,where I could change.

She told me to rest and that our lessons will begin tomorrow.

The room was beautiful, a bed by the window, a table and stool and a wardrobe...

I lay on the soft bed and hummed.

Everywhere was clean and sparkling, the only dirt found was me.

The next day

A knock on the door brought me back to reality while I was still admiring my room.

"Come in, " I said.

That's how I am supposed to reply, right?

A maid walked in.

"Good morning" I greeted

"Save your greeting for someone that really cares," she replied with disgust written on her face.

"Follow me to the washroom." She said,

"I am fine," I said.

"Hump ,you will be taught to behave like a proper maid here so follow me to the washroom,so that you can have a proper bath and rid yourself of that smell and those rages you call clothes" she said angrily.

It seems to me that she doesn't want to be here.

"I refuse" I said

"What !! Who gave you a choice in the matter" she shouted at me.

She exhaled .

"Well I tried my best I will inform ma Nora that you refused to heed her instructions,hump" she said arrogantly with her head held up high and left.

I locked the door and took a towel from the wardrobe and the water I saw in the jug in my room and cleaned my body and face the best I could and wore the maids dress. It seemed so out of place on my body,must I take a bath?

A few moments later someone knocked and I opened it. It was Nora , the head maid.

"I asked someone to show you the washroom and you refused to follow her,I see you improvised" She sighed .

She thought for a moment.

"Well it can't be helped, come along"She said.

She showed me the washroom.

The kitchen where we had our breakfast after serving the master and the guards,where the cleaning equipment was kept,she showed me how to use the cleaning equipment...

"Now there are rules here:

1. You don't look at the master or any of his guests directly in the eyes unless asked to.

2. You must always reply with respect to everything the master or his guests say,there are also elite guards that you need to respect.

3. Don't get yourself into trouble by being clumsy,and respect your senior maids

4. You must answer every summon with haste ,I will forget about today so that's all. Any questions?" She asked after explaining everything.

I shook my head.

"You speak with your mouth not your head." She corrected my actions.

"No ma." I replied.

"Good." She half smiled.

"I will assign you to cleaning first,Gloria." She called.

"Yes ma." A maid said and ran to us.

"You will be in charge of her as she learns how to clean." Nora told Gloria.

"Yes ma." Gloria nodded in understanding.

"You can get acquitted then." ma Nora said and left.

"I am Gloria and you?" She inquired with a smile.

"Ezra." I replied.

"Nice to meet you" she smiled.

"You too." I mumbled.

"Let's get to work." She clapped her hands excitedly.
