Lucian’s POV

The words didn’t settle in the room at first, but the moment they did, I rose.

Lycan? That meant a whole lot of things. Countless things, actually and I wasn’t so sure I wanted to tell Selene what it meant. No, scratch that, I wasn’t going to tell her yet.

I peered down at her tired face, “Rest now, we’ll talk properly when you wake up.” I said.

She couldn’t argue, she could barely even keep her eyes open.

“Jordan… help me watch him.” She said in a pleading voice, then finally clos

Selene’s POVI held Jordan together to my chest — tighter than I had ever held him before. He rustled in my hold and I wasn’t sure if it was from the pressure of being held like that or from something completely different like the presence of his supposed father.“We meet again, Selene,” Leo said, a tight lipped smile that looked nowhere near genuine donning his face.“I told you to not try anything drastic again.” I forced myself to sound very strong. Like I knew exactly what I was doing and he stood no chance against me.“Now, you don’t expect me to sit and fold my hands while I watch my mate live in another kingdom with my own child.”“I’m not your mate any longer,” I said through gritted teeth. “And stop all of these, I’m not going anywhere with you and neither is Jordan.”“Jordan?” He asked, stepping closer to me, “You already gave him a name? Tell me, did he give you recommendations while you searched for a name for MY son? Or was it he, the lycan king, who straight up named him

Lucian’s POVI hadn’t put on my full gear before I ran out of the war room with my senior warriors right in my tow. The explosion sound that had shaken the castle was enough to make Kairos almost force shift. My eyes sparsely moved towards the west wing as we made our way downstairs but I didn’t stop. The warriors were still standing there, guarding the wing ably. And just as we got outside, I saw the extent of the damage that had been done. The building that just exploded was an incomplete building in the kingdom’s center. And the craziest part was that it didn’t have fire or anything related to it oozing out of it. It was just completely destroyed to the ground. That definitely wasn’t a normal bomb.I didn’t stay too long on that before joining my warriors to deal with the rogues. There were so many that they could pass for an army of soldiers.Snarls and yells of anger went round the clearing, blood spilled to the ground and soon enough, the clearing turned into a real battleground

Selene’s POVI woke up at 3 am. It wasn’t even as though I really slept. But the few minutes of sleep I got before that time was what was disrupted. I sat upright, the soft snores of Jordan the only sound that I could hear in the room. And as quiet as the room was, the kingdom should be too, right? But no, the distinct sound from the distance was one of the reasons I woke up. Jordan was still latched onto my breast and I had to gently place him on the bed before standing up.I stood up and walked over to the window, my face contorting into a frown as I looked downstairs to see that the source of the sounds was warriors who were training under the moonlight with little to no light.“What’s going on?” I asked slowly, trying to catch exactly what they were doing. The training ground had more lights than it should at the moment, and even the warriors moved with purpose. They didn’t move like they were training normally. It looked like drills, like a preparation for something.I had lived

Lucian’s POVAn uprising. It was the last thing that I needed on my table at the moment. After everything that went down in the last couple of weeks, I had been doing everything within my power to get my people together again. An uprising wouldn’t just scatter everything, it would also make it all worse. We couldn’t afford to cause one at the moment. But at the same time, we needed something very solid to counter whether Leo could be planning. The whole of yesterday when Darius said those words passed by so quickly.Selene and I could barely breathe after what he said and it took Jordan’s wailing to get the room back into order. She didn’t even know about the second chance mate bond yet. Or rather, I wasn’t sure if she knew about it yet. But if she did, Selene wasn’t one to bottle in something as crucial as that. She’d have definitely brought it up or even shown signs that she knew. And that just meant that I was the only one who was aware that we were second chance mates.A mate. Nev

Selene’s POVAzriel shifted on the same spot, stiffening a bit beside me. Lucien came into the room fully, his face hardened.“Good morning, your majesty. I only came here to greet Selene, who’s my friend. I was actually about to leave before you came in, I’ll just be on my way now.” He said, stepping towards the entrance where Lucian happened to be at.He allowed Azriel to walk out of the room but his glare never left his face until he walked out and closed the door behind him.“Has he offended you before?” I asked Lucian the moment we were alone.“Why do you ask?” His voice still cold, almost like the way he sounds each time he speaks to his men or just random people.“Well, you don’t seem to like him at all.” I shrugged and decided to change the topic. “What are your plans for today?”I’ve turned that into a routine now; asking him about the things he intended to do for the day and he’d run me through them before he went through it all first. And that’s because he comes into this r

Leo’s POVWhen my contact at the kingdom told me that Selene was in the process of giving birth, I thought they were lying.A normal werewolf pregnancy takes about seven months and if she delivered the child that early, it only meant that the child was premature. And that there could be complications.I was up on my feet immediately, fear gripping me wholly. I wasn’t even thinking straight, all that was on my mind was how to get to the lycan kingdom already. My heir, my own child was about to be given birth to and I wouldn’t be present due to the stubbornness of a woman who sought more solace in the lycan kingdom than in the pack of her own mate. But on getting to the entrance of the pack house, I bumped into Amelia who almost fell to the ground.“What’s going on? Where are you rushing to?” She asked, grabbing me by the arm.“Now’s not the time for any kind of questioning.” I gently shoved her aside but she came to stand before me once again.“Is the pack under attack or what? What ex
