Chapter 2

Author: Stars
Stacy clung to Jeremy’s arm, smiling triumphantly as she looked at me.

“Grace, I know you’ve always liked Jeremy, but he’s with me now. And I know you’re not the kind of woman who would come between someone else’s relationship.

“So please don’t bother Jeremy again.”

Jeremy glanced at me, too, saying, “Grace, I appreciate everything you did for me over the years. Since I’ve already repaid what I owe you, from now on, there’s nothing between us.”

I knew he was afraid I would expose our relationship to the media. So, I just nodded.

Having an ungrateful boyfriend like him wasn’t something to brag about, anyway.

After Jeremy left, the onlookers slowly dispersed. Only a coworker who was close to me still looked furious on my behalf.

“Grace, why didn’t you just go with him? If you had, maybe one day you’d be Luna!”

I shook my head. “He couldn’t wait to cut all ties with me. If I go crawling after him now, that’d be truly pathetic.”

Witnessing someone’s true nature was worth it.

I’ll admit I’d been blind and fell for the wrong man.

I thought that was the end of it.

However, for several days straight, Stacy kept showing up at the hospital, demanding to see me.

Every time, she caused a scene and accused me of writing fake prescriptions.

I knew that as long as I stayed in this pack, she’d be terrified I might expose my past with Jeremy. So she wanted to get rid of me.

Everyone knew what was going on. Now that Stacy had Jeremy’s support and she was most likely the future Luna, even the hospital director didn’t dare offend her.

In the end, I was fired.

With Stacy’s widespread influence, no other hospital would hire me. I had no other choice but to buy a plane ticket to Sirius Pack.

When Jeremy left, he took everything that had ever belonged to him. The apartment looked empty, as if he’d never lived there at all.

I didn’t own much to begin with, which made the house seem even emptier.

The day before my flight, I packed my suitcase and went to the airport early, spending the night in the waiting lounge.

After arriving at Sirius Pack, I found a small hospital job, barely making enough to get by.

However, I was never one to need much. Without Jeremy, my expenses were simple, and my life was quiet.

That five hundred thousand could last me twenty years.

Still, I planned to save it to buy a house someday, a place that actually belonged to me.

Even in that tiny hospital with low pay, I worked hard. When there were too many patients, I stayed until late at night.

One evening, just as I was about to clock out, a man in a sharp suit suddenly pushed open my office door.

“Healer, hi. My arm’s dislocated. Could you help me put it back in place?”

The hospital was in a remote area, with barely any residents nearby, let alone someone who looked this polished and well-off.

Curious, I studied him for a moment.

He was tall, broad-shouldered, and strikingly handsome. With chiseled features and deep-set eyes, he had the composed air of a man used to being in control.

He sat down across from me and rolled up his sleeve.

After a quick examination, I could tell it was a clean dislocation caused by a strong external force, but no other visible injuries.

I touched his arm. “This might hurt a little. Can you handle it?”

He met my eyes and nodded. “Go ahead.”

Relieved by his words, I didn’t hesitate. I found the right spot, then gave a sharp pull and heard a crisp pop.

The man hid a grunt, his brows furrowing.

“All done,” I said.

He rotated his arm a bit and found he could move it freely.

“You’re good at what you do,” he complimented me.

I froze for a second, then let out a dry laugh. “If I were really that good, I wouldn’t be stuck in this rundown little hospital.”

He picked up his suit jacket. I thought he was about to leave, but he pulled out a business card and handed it to me.

“Would you be interested in becoming my personal healer?”

I took the card, glanced at the name—Marcus Flint.

Wasn’t that the name of Sirius Pack’s Alpha?

I’d only heard of him since moving here. I’d never seen him in person before.

Suddenly, I was wary. He was not trying to keep me, was he?

“Salary’s a hundred thousand a month.”

“When do I start?”

Though I wasn’t the type to chase after money, the amount he was offering was too good to pass up!

Marcus chuckled. “Tomorrow.”

“Grace, it’s all my fault. I’m sorry. Please don’t be with Jeremy. We can start over, okay?”Jeremy was on his knees in front of me, clutching my hands.Looking at him now, I only felt disgust.“When you dumped me back then, did it never cross your mind that you were wrong?” I said coldly.“You’re not sorry, Jeremy. You just realized I’m useful again.”Jeremy froze.“You only chased me in the first place because I had a little money you could burn through,” I went on. “Then you went after Stacy, because she had more to offer.“Now that Stacy’s run out of value, you’re crawling back to me.“Do you really think I’m still the same naive girl who’d forgive you no matter what, Jeremy?”My words hit Jeremy like ice water.“But you can’t be with Marcus either. He already knew who you really were and wants the power and influence. He’s no different from me.”I smiled faintly. “But he is. And if being with me gives him an advantage, I’ll give it to him willingly.“Just like when w

A banquet hosted by the Alpha King was one that every Alpha attended.Just as I expected, I ran into Jeremy, with Stacy by his side. From the moment I walked through the door, Jeremy’s eyes widened in disbelief as he looked me over.Kate was there too, glaring at me with open disdain. Ever since Marcus had thrown her out after her lies were exposed, the sweetness she used to fake was gone. Now, her voice dripped with venom. “Marcus, you’re really choosing this lowly Omega? I’m ten times better than her! What can she offer you?”Marcus shot her a look. “Watch your mouth. I told you that if you ever disrespect Grace again, I won’t let it slide.”Kate curled her lips and stopped taking. However, Jeremy stared coldly at me. “So that’s why you never came back to apologize. You’ve already hooked up with someone else.“You really think being with the man cursed by the witch to kill his own father won’t bring you bad luck?”I sneered. “If I get bad luck, it’s from being with an ungra

Later, when Jeremy was kicked out of his family and badly injured, I gave up the chance to continue my studies and took a leave from school to care for him.I couldn’t stand the thought of losing someone close to me again. So I worked three jobs, barely having a moment to breathe each day.Eventually, I found a decent position at a hospital and transferred Jeremy there so I could take better care of him. However, everything changed the day Stacy arrived. She came in for an internship. Pampered from birth, a perfect image of grace and privilege, someone like that naturally stood out among ordinary people like us.From the moment Jeremy saw her, he couldn’t take his eyes off her. Even after he was discharged, he kept coming back to the hospital just to see her.I still remember that on her birthday, Jeremy bought her a five-thousand-dollar necklace using my money. One of my coworkers asked me, “Jeremy looks healthy enough to me. Why isn’t he working? Why’s he still spending your

I didn’t understand what Marcus meant until that night, when the butler came to find me.Marcus wasn’t feeling well and needed me to check up on him.I hesitated for a moment, puzzled. Still, I was his personal healer now. This was part of my job. When I knocked on his door, a deep voice came from inside. “Come in.”I pushed the door open only to find Marcus with his lean upper body bare, a towel slung low around his waist. Water still dripped from his damp hair, running down over the hard lines of his chest and abs.I stared for a moment, completely still. As a medical professional, I’d seen plenty of bodies before, but never one built quite like his. His muscles were precise and defined, and his V-line chiseled to perfection.Marcus noticed my gaze and smirked faintly. “Enjoying the view?”Heat rushed to my face before I could stop it.He laughed softly. “Didn’t you date Jeremy for five years? How are you still so innocent?”I suddenly felt very small. “He never let me

Marcus nodded and gestured toward the girl beside him. “This is Kate. I actually—”Before he could finish, Kate suddenly looped her arm through mine. “I know who you are! You’re Marcus’ girlfriend.”I froze for a moment. “No, I think you’ve got the wrong person.”Sure, Marcus and I had a past. However, that was years ago. At most, I was his ex.“No way I’d mistake you. Marcus’ phone wallpaper has been your picture for seven years. He’s never changed it! Grace, right? He talks about you all the time.” Kate laughed. I didn’t know what to be more shocked by—the fact that he still had my photo after all these years, or that he openly told people I was his girlfriend.Jeremy and I had been together for five years. Not once did he ever hold my hand in public, and there wasn’t a single picture of us on his phone. Still, I gave him everything I had because I believed being his girlfriend meant taking responsibility for him. However, when Jeremy was brought back to Alpha’s family,

Just as I was about to leave, a tiny hand tugged on the corner of my coat.I turned around. The little boy was standing there, staring up at me with wide eyes. His lips trembled for a long time before he whispered, “Thank you.”Maybe it was because I knew what it felt like to be abandoned, but something in me felt for him. From that day on, I started dividing my breakfast into three parts—one for the stray dog, one for the boy, and a small piece of dry bread for myself.Sometimes we’d go out on the streets together, picking up recyclables to buy dog food.Unlike everyone else, he never feared me. Even when I worked on my skull models, he’d just look at them in awe and say, “That’s so cool!”Over time, we became friends. He didn’t know his own name, so I started calling him “Spud”.After all, he was always covered in dirt, like a little potato freshly dug out of the ground.Years passed. He found a job washing dishes at a restaurant and finally left the streets behind. I was
