My boyfriend was the illegitimate son of Oceanfall Pack’s Alpha, while I was just an ordinary healer working at the pack’s hospital. When his father broke his legs and threw him out, I was the one who stayed and gave him everything I could. However, the day fifteen luxury cars came to take him back, he ignored me completely and left with my coworker instead. When reporters pointed at me and asked him, “Who is this Omega to you?” Jeremy said coldly, “Just my healer. Nothing more.” Later, he rose to power to become the untouchable Alpha. I turned away, crossing borders to Sirius Pack to marry his greatest rival. On the night of my mating ceremony, he sent his men to kidnap me. “Are you really going to marry Marcus Flint, a man cursed by a witch? Aren’t you afraid of punishment?” I smiled. “Being with you was already my biggest punishment.”

Chapter 1

The day Alpha came to take Jeremy Cooper home, everyone thought he would bring me along. After all, I wasn’t just his girlfriend. I’d cared for him wholeheartedly for five years.

However, he walked right past and took my coworker instead.

A line of luxury cars filled the hospital driveway.

Reporters all held their cameras, blocking every inch of space.

I had just come out of the OR after surgery when I saw the chaos outside.

One of my coworkers nudged me with her elbow and laughed. “Grace, I can’t believe your boyfriend is the Alpha’s illegitimate son.

“Now that his brother’s dead, he’s the only heir left. That makes you the future Luna, doesn’t it?”

In that instant, everything clicked.

Jeremy had lied to me all along and wasn’t some poor, rogue wolf. He just needed an excuse to use me.

Now, standing there in a perfectly tailored suit, tall and confident, he radiated nobility and cold arrogance.

It was hard to believe this was the same man who couldn’t even afford a decent meal a few years ago.

Beside him was my coworker from the same department, Stacy.

Jeremy’s gaze met mine, but the affection I used to see was long gone. In its place was the look of a superior.

It was then that a reporter raised his camera and asked loudly, “Mr. Cooper, what’s your relationship with this lady here?”

Jeremy only said coldly, “She’s just the healer who treated me while I was recovering.”

My coworkers all turned to stare, shocked.

After Jeremy broke his leg, I rushed home every night to cook for him because he couldn’t stomach hospital food. I even bought him expensive medicine and stayed up helping him with physical therapy.

Everyone knew what relationship we really had.

There was no doubt about how much Jeremy’s words had humiliated me.

I could feel all the eyes on me, some filled with pity while others gossiped behind their hands.

They even threw mocking glances my way.

I had taken care of Jeremy for five years, pouring my time and energy into him. With just one sentence, he’d taken away everything I’d given him.

As I stood there, frozen, my hands clenched tight in the blood-stained scrubs I hadn’t had time to change out of.

Jeremy didn’t look at me again. He put his arm around Stacy and walked toward the car.

Then, right before getting in, he turned back as if something had just occurred to him. “You did take care of me for years. I suppose I should repay you. How much do you want? Name your price.”

Everyone around us looked expectantly at me, waiting for me to demand a fortune when I only said, “Five hundred thousand.”

Jeremy frowned, as if he hadn’t heard right. “You sure? This is probably your only chance to change your life forever. You really want half a million?”

Laughter rippled through the crowd.

With Jeremy’s wealth now, he could easily throw away fifty million without blinking, let alone five hundred thousand.

I nodded and began counting on my fingers. “I can’t work for free. Based on local rates, my time as your healer comes to around three hundred thousand. Add in your food, medication, and care expenses…”

“Five hundred thousand seems fair.”

Jeremy stared at me for a moment, something flickering in his eyes, before gesturing to his assistant to give me a check.

“I hope you don’t regret this later.”

I glanced at it—exactly five hundred thousand dollars.
