Chapter 4

Archer Wild

Infuriating! How dare that woman speak to me like that? Doesn’t she know who I am?

Pacing the space that I have been walking for at least an hour, smoke practically pours out of my nose when I think about what she said.

I have to tell myself to calm down, or I will go raging down the hall and throw that insufferable girl over my shoulder! Maybe that will teach her a lesson! Me, Archer Wild, not desirable? Any woman in her right mind would throw herself at me! I could have any woman I wanted, and this is who the God paired me with? An absolute know-it-all?

Walking to the door I get ready to slam it open when I hear knocking come from the other side. Opening it carefully so as not to show how angry I am, I come face to face with the one person I didn’t want to see tonight! My beast steadies in my mind and focuses on the beauty sanding in frount of me.

“Paison told me what happened. Thank you for bringing me here, but I don’t want to stay here anymore. We’re leaving.” She turns to walk out of my sight when my arm reaches out and grasps her elbow. Pulling her closer to me, I look into her blue, green eyes. My traitorous heart skips a beat when she looks straight into my black ones, and I almost forgot what I was about to say.

"You can't leave." Asserting my dominance wasn't supposed to happen, but what can we do right? Huffing her eyes fill with determination and she lets out an angry sigh.

"Look, I realize I don't know much about this world, but I have to keep my brother safe." Trying to pull her arm out of my grip, I squeeze harder and turn her towards me again.

"I'm not saying that's not true, but you were kind of doing a bang up job at it. I mean you lost control in an alleyway with your brother five feet away." I say, can't she see that I'm not trying to keep her here against her will. But for some bizarre reason, I need to keep her within sight at all times.

"I was what? Listen, angry man, we were doing just fine on our own. We don't need your help, so thanks, but no thanks." Firmly pulling her elbow from my grip, she turns and goes to bolt when what I say next has her freezing in her spot.

"Yeah, and what are you going to do about the bond that has locked us together? You feel the push right? It's only going to get worse the longer you hold out. You might as well give in." Apparently that was the wrong thing to say, because the next moment my head whips to the side and a searing pain spreads through my cheek.

Now smoke is really coming out of my nose. "How dare you say that to me! Go pound sand for all I care, but stay the hell away from me, and my brother." She turns and bolts before I could say anything else.

Looking at where she was just standing, I locked eyes with Oliver and snorted. "Don't"

"I wasn't going to say anything."

"Sure you weren't, your just standing there for the entertainment." I say sarcastically, he shrugs his shoulders.

"It was entertaining. Are you going to go after her?" I look towards where she stormed off and fight the beast that is wanting to come out and track down the insufferable girl that finally left my sight. Apparently I am not one with my dragon anymore. The only thing he wants is to go after her and tell her how sorry he is. Well, too bad, because she can apologize first if she wants anything from me.

Going back into my room, I walk into my bathroom and start getting ready for bed, when I find myself walking towards the door I slammed to make a point to Oliver. Opening it, I see him off in the distance laughing.

Walking down the stairs, towards the front door, I find the twins walking down the driveway.

"Wait, hold on." Paison freezes, but is then pulled by his sister with a sharp glare at me. Running over to them, I stand and block their path and try to explain to them.

"Look, I'm sorry, okay, I'm not used to being tied to someone else. I'm processing and trying to behave myself at the same time."

Snorting, she say, "Not very well, obviously" She looks over her shoulder at the house and says, "I'm not going back there, I may not know about this life, but I know enough to keep moving out of sight when I 'blow up.'"

"I realize that is what you're used to, but what if I could offer you a deal?" she squints up at me and gestures to me to continue, rather rudely might I add.

"Stay here and keep the bond alive. In return, I promise to answer any questions and make sure you know what you're doing in the future. I can help you not only contain the power but control when it comes out."

"And how would I keep the bond alive?" she asks skepticaly.

"Just being in the same house helps, I can't believe you don't feel it."

"She feels it." Paisan chimes in. Elbowing him, she throws a glare his way and turns back to me.

"Fine, but no funny business mister."

"Scouts honor." Putting my fingers to my forehead, I make the salute and turn to walk back inside the house.

"Yeah, like you were a scout." she mutters under her breath.

"Heard that, and yes, I was a scout." Paison bursts out laughing and follows behind his sister.

This is going to be a long night.

Closing the door behind the siblings, I put them in the rooms across from me and Olivers. I close my door and flop onto my bed. Sleep finally overtakes me an hour later.
