Chapter 3

Maybell Smith

I move around in the cloud that I'm somehow laying in and slowly come to, as I figure out what happened, and where I am. Opening my eyes, the bright light stabs me. I look around and see the most beautiful bedroom I have ever found myself in. The bed that is in the middle of the space is a dark blue with wooden beams that come out of the corners. There is a dresser right on the end of the bed that is a light brown, with a hint of gold. The carpet is white, and looks like it could be the softest thing my feet have ever touched. Sliding off the king sized bed, my feet hit the carpet and confirmed my suspicions. It is in fact, the softest thing these feet have touched in their little life. Getting out of the bed, I make my way to the door and peek out. Standing at the end of the hall talking to the giant man, is my twin.

“Look, I know you're nervous, but this is the safest place for her. Archer’s not a bad guy, he is just older than dirt and doesn't know anything”. Clicking my tongue, I use the morse code Paison and I learned as kids. Doing what I said, he stands still and makes it seem like he is paying attention to Oliver, who just keeps on talking about this “Archer '' guy.

Clicking my tongue furiously, I basically ask him what in the hell is happening. Tapping his foot on the ground, I read the code that says that he didn’t have a choice in coming here because Archer, whoever that is, knows what I am and told him that he could protect me. Clicking again, I explained that we need to get out of here and find somewhere to hide since someone saw me.

Suddenly the hallway seemed too quiet. The man that was supposed to be talking suddenly stopped and was looking straight at me. Slamming the door shut, I slide down the door and rest on the floor letting out a sigh of relief that there is a door between us. Knocking echoes around the room making me squeak and jump to my feet. Opening the door, I peek out and see the black haired beauty staring back at me.

“Hello,” I said, looking down at my bare feet. Not willing to look up, I get distracted when a glowing light comes from my rib cage. Getting this tickling feeling, I lift my shirt and take a look. Blue dragons with ice spitting from their mouths are shaped into a yin and yang sign. The glowing gets brighter, so I shield my eyes before looking down once more. My blue dragons turned into one blue and one red dragon, seeming to battle each other. Shock and disbelief come from the man in front of me. I hear a groan sound from behind him and look around his shoulder to see the same stranger I thought I had dreamed about.

His bright red hair falls over his eyes that seem to be pitch black. He is almost as big as the giant standing next to him, although Oliver has at least an inch on him. They make Paison look like a toddler. Looking up to his face I notice the sharp jaw that perfectly defines his face. These men could be on the front of a magazine.

“What just happened” I ask, although it seems that whatever just happened has something to do with the red haired guy. Aren’t I such a detective?

“We’ve bonded.” He says in an awed tone. Recalling the many books that I threw on the ground in the library, I recall that bonding is what this God gave his “blessed” for more protection.

“What if I don’t want to be bonded? Is there any way to reverse this?” I say. I’m pretty sure I see not only him deflate, but Oliver next to him also.

“Why wouldn’t you want to be bonded?” Oliver says in a quiet voice.

“I don’t even know what that means, also I don’t know any of you, why would I want to bond myself to people that I don’t know?” I feel like I’m talking to a bunch of 3-year-olds! Apparently I need to do more research because these men look downright hurt that I would say that.

“Do you even know what bonding is?” He snaps back.

“Yeah, It’s this dumb thing this one god put in place to ruin my DAMN life.” I replied.

Who do they think they are, my father? He looks at Oliver and they share a look that says I won’t like whatever they are about to say.

“That one god” he retorts, dramatically putting up air quotes. “Gave the bonded a chance to survive. The reason why he would bond me to a stubborn girl like you, I have no clue, but obviously we need to learn something from each other”. Before I could comment back, he turned on his heels and stormed down the hallway. Like he actually storms. Snorting, I walk back into the room and shut the door, rather loudly. Leaning against the door I slide down and sit my ass on the floor.

I look over to my bag and pull out the ancient laptop I got to take my online classes, and pull up the site I was looking at to do more research. I specifically type in bonding so I can see what this random guy was talking about. Now that I think about it, I literally “Bonded” to a guy I don't even know. What the hell has the world come to?

Powering on the laptop took a lot longer than I expected, and then I got to researching.

Bonding- the God, Dalion, wanted to give more protection to the creatures that he created by binding two people’s souls to each other. This is an unbreakable connection to enhance the power that is given to the Mythicals. In this connection the mark changes to show what dragon was bonded to one another. If a Mythical somehow bonds with a non-Mythical, The mark evolves into a dragon that curls itself around the shadow of a human.

Slamming the laptop shut, I huff out a breath and wonder what the hell I just read. Unbreakable? What does that mean? I’m stuck with this random guy for my whole life?

“PAISON.” I scream. He comes running into the room I'm in, and lands on his butt while tripping over me. While most of the time I would roll on the ground laughing at that. Right now, I'm way too pissed.

“Want to explain to me how I got into this situation?”
