Ariana

The exhaustion from running around the city all morning had caught up with me when I got home that the moment I dropped my bag on the bed, I collapsed onto the mattress and passed out almost instantly.

A yawn escaped me as I stretched beneath the blanket. For a few seconds, I simply stared blankly at the wall before the reality came crashing back.

No job. Nothing.

I sighed and reached for my phone on the bedside table. The screen lit up.

6:14 PM.

"Wow."

I had slept for almost two hours.

  • My Obsessed Mafia Ex Wants Me Back   Chapter 50

ArianaI had expected Damien to ignore my request. Because that was what Damien Valmont did.He listened. Then he did whatever he wanted anyway. So when I stepped out of the elevator the following morning, coffee in one hand and my handbag hanging from my shoulder, I was mentally preparing myself to walk into his office as though last night's conversation had never happened.Instead...Dan intercepted me halfway down the corridor."Morning, Miss Ariana.""Good morning."He motioned for me to follow him. "I'll show you your new workspace."I blinked. For a second, I simply stared at him. Then the meaning of his words finally sank in. He actually did it.I followed Dan down the corridor until we stopped in front of a spacious corner cubicle surrounded by glass partitions. It wasn't completely enclosed like Damien's office, but it was private enough to work without constant interruptions.A brand-new computer sat neatly on the desk beside my files, stationery, and everything else that had

  • My Obsessed Mafia Ex Wants Me Back   Chapter 49

ArianaThe front door clicked shut behind me as I stepped onto the porch my gaze landing on the black sedan parked in front of the house.Damien was leaning casually against the driver's side, one hand tucked into the pocket of his trouser, the other holding two takeaway cups of coffee. The moment he saw me, the corner of his mouth lifted into a smile. My pulse stumbled. Tessa's words echoed mercilessly inside my head.At least be honest about where your heart is. I tightened my grip on my handbag.No. This had to stop."Ready for your lesson, Driver?"His voice pulled me back before I could lose myself in my thoughts.I should tell him I wasn't feeling well and go back inside.Instead...My feet carried me toward the car.I accepted the coffee with a quiet, "Thank you."He opened the passenger door for himself while I walked around to the driver's side.A small part of me couldn't believe I was actually doing this again. I slid into the driver's seat, setting my handbag behind me b

  • My Obsessed Mafia Ex Wants Me Back   Chapter 48

ArianaIt had been three days since Damien had declared, without asking for my opinion, that I was starting driving lessons.Three days since he'd completely ignored my protests. Three days since I'd foolishly allowed it.Sometimes I genuinely questioned my own sanity.Wasn't I supposed to be avoiding him? After everything that had happened—the dinner, the kiss, the conversation in his car, the confession that still echoed in the back of my mind whenever I tried to sleep, I should have been putting as much distance between us as possible.Instead, every single day seemed to throw us together. It was almost laughable. I'd had every logical reason to stay away from Damien Valmont. My heart, unfortunately, had developed a very annoying habit of refusing to listen to logic. The first driving lesson had been nothing short of a catastrophe.I'd spent the first fifteen minutes insisting I wasn't getting behind the steering wheel while Damien had stood there looking entirely unimpressed by my

  • My Obsessed Mafia Ex Wants Me Back   Chapter 47

ArianaSleep never came. I spent the entire night staring at the ceiling, replaying every second inside Damien's car until I could no longer tell which memories belonged to six years ago and which belonged to last night. The kiss. The way he'd looked at me.I haven't moved on.Those four words had become a curse.I turned onto my side with a frustrated groan, burying my face deeper into the pillow. What was I supposed to do with that? For six years I'd forced myself to believe the man who'd walked away from me no longer existed. I had mourned him, hated him, missed him, and eventually convinced myself that whatever we once had was buried where it belonged. Then one kiss—no two. The first one was in Paris. "Mommy."A tiny hand poked my cheek. I opened my eyes to find Lily kneeling beside the bed, her curls sticking out in every direction."Morning, sunshine," I murmured, forcing a smile. She tilted her head. "Bad dream?"If only it had been a dream. I brushed a strand of hair away fro

  • My Obsessed Mafia Ex Wants Me Back   Chapter 46

DamienI didn't know how I'd ended up here. No. That wasn't true. I knew exactly how.The moment she'd stood in my office that afternoon, file in hand, looking as composed as ever and said those words, "Congratulations, sir. I hope everything goes well."It felt like someone had driven a knife straight through my chest. After that...Nothing had gone right.I'd signed documents without reading them. Asked for reports I'd already approved. Dan had repeated the same question three times before I'd realized he was talking to me.Then Vanessa had insisted we have dinner to discuss the wedding. I'd gone. I'd sat across from her in one of the most expensive restaurants in the city while she excitedly talked about invitations, photographers, and honeymoon destinations.I'd nodded in all the right places. Answered when necessary. All the while...My mind had been somewhere else. With another woman. How insane was that? Worse than pathetic.Cowardly.Because I wasn't even trying to move on anymo

  • My Obsessed Mafia Ex Wants Me Back   Chapter 45

Ariana"What the hell is going on?" The moment I pushed the front door open, Tessa's voice hit me."What the hell is wrong with Damien?"I quietly shut the door behind me, slipped off my shoes, and shrugged out of my jacket. "Hey," I said instead dropping my handbag onto the couch. "Where's my baby?""Ariana, stop dodging the question." Tessa tailed behind me.I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose before finally looking at her. "What exactly do you expect me to say?""He's getting married."I shrugged. "I saw it too. The same way everyone else did. On the internet." I spread my hands."So...what's my own in all of this?"Tessa blinked surprised. "What is your own?"She let out a disbelieving laugh before pacing the room."That's Damien we're talking about.""So?""He isn't supposed to just wake up and—""Why wouldn't he? It's his life. He has every right to get married.""If I decide to get married tomorrow, nobody would question me."Tessa stared at me for a second. "Too bad you

Arianna"Sorry. You're no longer working with us."Those were the words that kept circling in my head. Within less than twenty-four hours, I had lost both jobs.First S&M Publishing House shutting down overnight after the fraud investigation. Then walking into the club and getting informed the boss

  • My Obsessed Mafia Ex Wants Me Back   Chapter 2

Ariana It took me a few seconds, maybe longer than that to convince myself that I wasn't imagining things. That this wasn't some cruel trick my exhausted mind was playing on me.Because once upon a time, those same eyes used to look at me like I was something precious. Like I was the only person i

ArianaI used to think survival was about strength... about smiling through pain and standing tall no matter how hard life pushed you.But life doesn't work like that. Now I know survival is just getting through the day without falling apart. The city lights blurred past the taxi window as I stared

DamienPower changes people. Sometimes it hardens you slowly until you stop recognizing yourself. Other times, it turns you into exactly what the world feared you would become in the first place. Two months. That was how long I had been out of the country handling shipments, negotiations, and probl
