The door clicked shut, leaving me in the quiet embrace of the cabin and the house, once again still, seemed to hold its breath. I stood there, momentarily alone, contemplating my safety. Even though the chances of me being attacked again in quick succession was one out of a hundred,I still didn't feel safe.

Limping slightly, I made my way to the bathroom. My leg didn't ache much, but I couldn't put it on the floor as if some invisible force lingered, urging caution.
