Grayson frowned deeply seeing the list of potential candidates for the position of his new assistant—Incompetent they all were, unimpressive and most of all they weren't Kathleen. She'd done such a good job being his assistant that a replacement just felt like a let down, trying to fill up a void space.

He flipped through the pages of each personal information when Theresa suddenly walked into his office with a stack of files, placing it on his table even though he didn't instruct her to. His brows arched as he looked up at her, ‘Pardon??'.

‘These are the breakdowns you asked for sir'. She muttered in the most stoic way possible that it almost felt like a mocking sarcasm, ‘Unfortunately the assistant supervisor isn't here to bring these herself'.

It subtly sounded like she was trying to insult his work ethic, and he knew Kathleen wasn't one to slack on the job, ‘It isn't the assistant's job. It's your job'.
