Eleni's Pov
“Are you listening to me!” The red haired man barked. I was dozing and nearly jumped out my skin at the sound of his voice. “Sir?” I asked startled. “I have just given my order! I expect you’ve taken it all down. You better have because I don’t like repeating myself. It make me mad.” He sneered. He was sitting round the table with five other men. They had been there drinking for hours, going from one brand of wine to another. He had ordered another one but I hadn’t been listening. My heart skipped. I had seen him get mad once with another customer and the guy ended up with a cracked skull, so I definitely didn’t want to be on the receiving end of that anger. My skull won't stand such a crack. “I will get your order right now.” I stammered. “What did I order for? Repeat it!” He demanded. He was looking at me with his mean narrowed eyes, he must have guessed I hadn't heard a word he said, and I knew this was the moment he’d been waiting for to get back at me. His name was Glykos, why he was called that I had no idea because there was nothing sweet about him. He was a mean asshole who'd had it in for me ever since Christos Makris had taught him a “lesson” "I asked you to repeat my order!" He sneered. I felt myself loose some color and my mind raced thinking of a way out of this, when one of his companions, a thin bald man called Stick, said, “Don’t stand there staring at us, go get the bottle of Raminsta.” Glykos glared at him, furious his chance for revenge was gone. I sighed in relief and mentally thanked Stick. “Of course. Two bottles of Raminsta coming up.” I said brightly I turned and hurried to the bar, feeling the eyes of most of the customers on me. I wasn’t surprised. The skirt of the waitress uniform I was wearing barely covered my ass, and I was constant trying to pull it down but it kept crawling back up. My top too left nothing to the imagination. I hated the uniform but I had no choice. As long as I worked at The Brothers Bar, I had to do what I was told. I also had to put up with the leers and rude remarks from drunken gangster. If I protested I would be ridiculed. “Stop complaining you whore! If you don’t want it why dress this way?” They would ask. It is the dress code moron! I won’t be walking around half naked if it wasn’t! I felt like yelling. But I didn’t. I didn’t want an offended customer reporting me to the Makris brothers. They were brutal and dangerous. I had seen them punish staff for less, although Christos seemed to have a soft spot for me, but I didn’t want to push it. At the bar I gave the barman their order and waited. I eyelids felt heavy as I looked round the crowded bar and I struggled to keep them open. I had been on my feet all morning and afternoon behind the cash registers at my first jobs, then had rushed to my room, jumped into the shower, and rushed to the bar where I would work till 6am. This had been my routine for more than a month. I rarely ate dinner and hardly slept. Now it was beginning to tell on me. I had lost weight and was utterly exhausted, but I had no choice. I needed the extra income if I was going to have a chance at paying off my debts this century. “Are you okay?” Rich the bartender asked, handing me the wine. I nodded. “Yes I’m fine.” “You look exhausted. You need to get more sleep during the day.” He said. I could hear the concern in his voice. I smiled weakly. “I will be okay.” I picked up the tray, feeling unsteady on my feet, and turned and began walking to where Sweet and his companions sat. Then, Crash! I had walked right into trouble.Eleni stared at the gun open mouthed. Once again a weapon was in her face. That seemed to be a common occurrence ever since she had met the Romano’s. “You are coming with me!” The man snapped. Panicking her eyes quickly scanned the room, looking for a weapon she could use to defend herself, but there wasn’t anything. “Now!” He snapped. “Please let me go. I will leave town and not come back.” She said frantically. “Move!” He barked shoving her towards the back door. The cold air hit her as she stepped outside, and she shivered from the cold and fear. She didn’t know where the man was taking her, but guessed wherever it was Mia would be waiting. She looked at the guard house, there was no sign of the guards. Where were they now she needed them? As they walked further away from the house she looked round hoping to find a weapon. Her eyes caught a large log of wood on the ground. “Who are you working for?” She asked trying to distract him. “Be quiet and move!” She stumbl
Leonardo’s heart nearly stopped. The footsteps were getting closer. Was it a maid? Guard? Or had Niccolo come home unexpectedly? Whoever it was they couldn’t find him here. But the information he needed was almost up, of he shut it down he won't lose everything. He made a decision. He shut the laptop and looked round for a place to hide. Behind the bookcase at the end of the room was perfect. He slid behind it just as the door opened. He heard the person come in, walk around then stop. From his position he couldn’t see who it was, and didn't dare peek. The sounds stopped. Everything was quiet for a long time, then the footsteps sounded again and he heard the door opened and close. He let out a sigh of relief as he came out his hiding place. He needed to hurry up and get the hell out of this place. He walked to the computer and stopped suddenly. It was open and the browsing history had been wiped out. Fuck! * Eleni’s again looked out of the cabin windows. No sign of any guard. Sh
Helena wasn’t surprised to see Julia at her house the next afternoon, but she was surprised by how angry she looked. “Helena what have you done?” Julia demanded.. “I was helping you solve our problem,.” Helena said calmly. “I had already solved it! The girl was leaving with the money I gave her. Then you had to ruin everything.” “I’m sorry. It was the fools I sent. They messed up.” “What was the point of having her kidnapped?” Julia demanded. “To make sure she was gone for good.” “Well she isn’t! And now Niccolo knows what you’ve done. He is angrier than ever with Mia. You have ruined everything.” “And I will fix it. We will try again.” “How? I don’t even know where she is.” “What do you mean? I thought you said she didn’t leave.” “She didn’t. Niccolo rescued her, now he is hiding her somewhere and I don’t know where.” “Then find her. Or make Nick forget her.” “I am trying.” “Try harder! Nick must get back with Mia, and soon!” “He would never have broken
Julia paced the living room anxiously, occasionally glancing at the wall clock. Alora and Jane had been gone for nearly two hours and she didn’t know if Jane had managed to escape or not. She had tried calling Alora to indirectly find out what was going on, but she wasn’t picking up. Jane must have escaped, she told herself. She has enough money and Alora is careless so it would be easy for her to slip away, especially since no guards are with them. But what if she hasn't? How would she explain it to Helena? Then she heard Alora's car pull into the driveway, and held her breadth as Alora rushed into the living room. “Aunt Julia you are here? Where is Nick?” She asked breathlessly. “At work of course. What is it?” “No he isn’t there. I’m just coming from his office. I need to know where he is!” “Calm down, what is it that’s so important?” “Jane is missing! I think she has been kidnapped! We have to find her.” Julia let out a quiet sigh of relief. So the stupid girl d
“Please let me go!I didn’t escape I’m with Alora!” I tried to explain. “Shut up!” One growled. I stopped struggling. I knew Nick must have told them to take me back to the mansion. The jerk couldn’t even wait for me to come back, he had to kidnap me. I thought furiously. Then one of men said, “Call miss Conti. Tell her we have the girl and are on our way.” Eleni froze. Mia! Mia was the one who had kidnapped her? This wasn’t good. She began to struggle desperately. “Stay still!” The man yelled holding her tightly. She began wishing she had listened to Nick and stayed at home, but how was she to know Mia would go this far. Then she heard a load bang that shook the whole car. It skidded off the road and crashed on to the sidewalk. She moaned softly. Now what? She thought as the door opened and she was pulled out. She saw another car had run into theirs and badly damaged it. Niccolo got out of the car and ran towards her, while his men pulled her kidnappers from the wrecke
Eleni's Pov Don’t bother getting up.” Julia snapped sitting beside me. “I didn’t know you were around.” I stammered nervously, guessing she was here for trouble. Julia looked at me coldly. “Everything was going well in this house until you came here. Niccolo and Mia were in love and ready to get married, now he hates her and it’s all your fault!" “I’m sorry I never meant to cause trouble. I just came here to get a job. I never wanted any of this, it was all Nick’s idea.” “That’s a lie!” “It’s true. I swear. I would have left long ago but he won’t let me.” “You expect me to believe Nick is keeping you here?” She asked scornfully. “He is. Honestly-“ “Prove it then.” I looked confused. “How?” I asked, wondering what drama I was about to be dragged into now. Julia pulled out an envelope from her pocket and threw it at me “This is a check for a million dollars. If you really want to leave then take it. Leave town and leave my family alone.” “The guard won’t let me-“
